    anyone have surgery in Oregon?

I attended meeting at good sam last week. self-pay was $20-25K. I just can't afford that much. Glad you have had a good experience. Keep up the good work!
  3. Congratulations to all of you who have been successful this week. Last night received the packet of reading material from Dr's office. Feeling anxious about the process...but in a GOOD way!:biggrin2:

What dr. in portland are you using? I am scheduled for surgery in Denver in August and can't afford to return for fills or followups. There is a Fill USA in Salem, but seeing someone right in town would be great!
  5. Thanks, Marcy, for all the great information. My surgery is scheduled for Aug. 20. There is Fill USA located about 45 miles from my home, so I probably will use that facility.

  6. Whoa...thanks for the support. I now have to get the loan to pay for this new life. Don't think it will be a problem. This is all so overwhelming for me that it is difficult to express myself...thank you all for your support.
  7. Wow! Just talked to Natalie in Dr. K's office. My phone consult with him is July 2 and my surgery is scheduled for Aug. 20:lol: Now the anxiety really begins! Guess I will have to figure out how y'all put those little graphics and "meters" on your sign-offs....anybody wanna share how? Deb
  8. When you guys talk about something getting "stuck", sounds scary. What does it mean and what do you do when it happens?:confused2: Mini: I live in Portland.
  9. Hi, thanks for reply. Well, I have to apply for a loan at my credit union; plus I have set vacation plans in both July and early August that would throw a wrench into the works. Plus it gives me time to find a cheaper flight, prepare my mom and dad, whom I haven't told yet, and settle into focusing on the one item. I noticed you received your surgery date quickly; good for you!! This self-pay thing is a pain, but a person has to do whatever it takes. I figure I am worth the cost of a cheap used car! Just wish it wouldn't have taken me so long to get onto this. I am going to be 57 in September and hope this isn't coming too late!
  10. I am setting up my consultation appt. with Dr. K. Do any of you have recommendations or warnings about where to stay? I will be flying from Portland, OR, to Denver. Also, wanted you all to know that reading your posts is SOOOO helpful in a number of different ways. Obviously, the info for a newbie is important, but knowing that there is a support system like this is incredibly encouraging. I had originally thought to have surgery on Aug. 25, but then saw the Demo. Conv. was in Denver that week. Not such a good time. So probably right after Labor Day will be my target. I am getting married on Oct. 11 and hope to shed a few (10 lbs?) between surgery and then. Thanks again for all of your straightforward talk and upbeat attitudes!
  11. Have you traveled back to CO for follow-up or do you have a dr. locally who is following your progress (not the fills)?
  12. Lapdancer, thanks for your reply, but no forum jump showed up here; it took me to a space that "unscribed" me...not so good. Maybe you could just write out the address for me? I sent my first communication to Dr. K's office; hopefully, I will hear soon. This is all very scary for me at my age...57...as the OHSU personnel made it sound as if one is over 50 it is questionable to be approved for surgery. Has anyone else had that experience? Thanks sooo much for responding.
  13. Hi, I am new to this. Doing lots of reading about diff. drs. in diff. states and Mexico. Since I am self-paying, Dr. K looks to be a good choice. Being a newbie, I don't understand about fills, unfills, fluoro, etc. Is there some specific place I can read this info? I agree with some of new posts by new people, these threads are sooooo helpful!
  14. I am in Portland and may go out of state for procedure. How much does your organization charge per fill?

    anyone have surgery in Oregon?

Hi, I am in Portland and am just starting the research for dr. Went to oHSU seminar this week and was shocked that they charge $25-30K for lapband. My insurance won't pay, so that set me back a bit. How much was Dr. Neal, if you don't mind my asking?
  18. I am just starting my research and have plans to go to seminar at OHSU. My insurance doesn't pay, so I would be curious as to what they charge.
