Yeah I’ve had NALD for 15 years. Doc said the only way to improve is to lose weight. One of the reasons going for RNY.

Hi the more I read on this site the more excited I get about getting a revision from band to RNY and finally getting this weight off for the first time in my life. I’m 55 years old though. 5 foot 2 in and 240. If I lose 80 pounds or more at this age will I still look fat with all this hanging skin? Maybe I shouldn’t be worried about something so trivial?

Coincidentally I met a 62 year old who had bypass a year ago. 128 pounds down and looked good!

Hi Biddy zz, i had my gallbladder out 25 years ago before any wls. The gallbladder gets messed up from fast weight loss, not specifically RNY. I doubt that you have any permanent damage to your liver. My liver enzymes have been all over the place. The liver can heal itself. Of course I’m not a dr so you have to listen to your physicians findings and advice. That said I sympathize with you over the pain. I thought I was dying when I had my attacks.

Hi Mylighthouse, I’m sorry you had to go through all that with the sleeve. Thats exactly the reason i don’t want it. So so glad everything worked out for you. This is very encouraging to me! I have a feeling it will work out for me too. Can you tell me where your previous hernia was with the mesh? Mine was at the incision site of my C section. So its low. Thats why i’m hoping it won’t be an issue. Good luck with your bypass. Keep us posted on your progress!
