1. You're doing so great! It's nice you have your spouse to help you. I talked to the Bariatric Coordinator today at pre-op and she said sugar free gum is ok - Yay! She just said don't go crazy because it can make you salivate and may make you more hungry.
It's encouraging you have not had any nausea. Has your family mentioned the tummy noises are loud enough for them to hear? I read that never goes away.
Already cutting back on BP meds --- look at you GO!
The emotional part if the best to hear and I can understand feeling down. Something has shifted in me in recent months from "no hope" to "I'm going to fight this obesity once and for all!"
The tummy noises come and go and yes they can be loud. With so much focus on the physical part of this, the mental/emotional aspect needs more emphasis. Glad to hear you are in a good mindset.

2. jrandolph68 That's a great idea about the cooler. I bought those little 2 oz. clear disposable cups with lids and think they may look weird in our office refrigerator. I like the idea of storing a little cooler under my desk.
jrandolph68 & Kimbero Congrats on being this far our post op. You are my veterans now. Hoping I may ask you a few questions?
Did you have help at home when you returned from the hospital?
Can you chew gum?
How does your tummy feel?
Any head hunger?
Do you feel weak or out of it or pretty much like yourself?
How do you feel emotionally?

Wife helps all the time. Was told not to chew gum because of air. I suck on sugar-free breath mints. They are small and give me the flavor I would crave with gum. I had staples which have been removed. I will have scars to match my heart surgery scar. My belly looks like a constellation.

Have had no stomach issues like nausea...just alot of weird noises coming from there. No head hunger...not much hunger at all which is weird. I get a little dizzy when standing which is caused by not enough fluids and low blood pressure..I have cut back on BP meds.

Emotionally, I am alot better. My PCP said I look like I have hope for the first time in a long time. She was treating me for depression before surgery.

3. This is incredible. You didn't really take any time off. I was planning on 2 weeks off but my post op diet is pretty strict with about 3 weeks of liquids only before moving to puree. You are giving me hope that recovery may be much better than expected. Did you guys have any help at home?
1 week full liquids...then 2 week puree for me. I just prepared/planned my liquids out and used cooler and insulated mugs to keep things cold. Keep a positive attitude and keep hope alive.

4. That's awesome. I'm an Office Manager too so I understand the "sit at the desk" and up running around the office completely! I thought you had Gastric at first and saw you had the Sleeve. I'm still figuring out this site. Sorry! LOL I'm having Gastric this month and am curious to see if no pain meds are doable with that as well as I'm really wanting to not use them as much as possible. Cheers to our journeys!

Also work in office and sit at desk most of the day. I was back to work the day after I got home from the hospital. We all heal differently but it helps when the heaviest thing I lift is a pen.

@KimberoThis is so encouraging to hear! You are doing incredible! Just to clarify, you are taking 8 days off work total? That sounds amazing to me. Do you have a desk job? I love how your diet allows for some small bites. Did you have any pain meds at home?

@jrandolph68 Congratulations! You're doing amazing too! Love hearing this as I'm fairly new here but fast approaching my date. :)

Thanks Jessica!

6. Congrats on your bypass! How are things going for you?

I’m so excited! I know I will struggle sometimes but the excitement of this whole process is bigger than the nerves.. for now anyways! Lol I think once my date gets closer the nerves will definitely kick in!

Excellent. Thanks for asking. No surgery complications, no pain, no nausea. I hope your surgery goes as smoothly as mine. My biggest struggle is getting enough Fluid. I used to guzzle Water all day. Now I have to sip and it takes forever to try to reach my goal.

As you get closer, you will probably have some nerves. Trust your surgeon and think about the new you!
