I was absolutely not talking about you request! I apologize if you took it as such. That was NOT my intent. I meant that on another occasion when I posted a similar comment, I was told I HAD to source it. Again, I was not referencing your request for additional info.

    Whey protein intolerant?

Shoot, I’m a bit jelly. I can’t hold coffee in either. Not if I want to keep my vitamins in during the day. But, hey, I’m willing to make the trade. I’m healthier than I’ve been since my early thirties!

    Whey protein intolerant?

Oh, man! I wish you the best. I do that, "I'm going to try a little bit of Whey Protein shake" thing every now and then. about two ounces in my stomach lets my know we're about mohave an extended date with the Ladies Room. Oddly, I CAN now eat whey protein based bars if I don't have more than two in one day!

    Whey protein intolerant?

I became whey intolerant the very day after surgery! Neither my surgeon nor my primary had a clue what was wrong. Tested me for EVERYTHING on EARTH! I gave more blood that a lab monkey! Then I asked on this forum and someone suggested switching to plant based protein. I chose to stop all whey shakes and waters, grabbed a Pea Protein and never looked back. Stomach issues were gone within 12 hours! At just over 2 months out I could begin using whey based protein bars but Ive never been able to hold liquid whey again. I can, however, eat cheese. I don't now what it is, but if I use plant based shakes, I'm golden and Pea Protein shakes work the very best for me because they do not froth in the blender with water. I hope this info helps. Don't count on your Doctor to know to have you try plant protein. I went to two outstanding Doctors. When I later called them to tell them how I fixed things, they were astonished!

    Hair loss getting worse

I just got my baby fine, thinning hair cut yesterday. I was waiting to have my extensions put bacon but there just wasn't enough left so...here it is...

It is a difficult journey but the more manufactured (unnatural) artificial sweetener you can get out of your regular diet, the healthier you will become. The very same goes for processed food. Science has known about the dangers of artificial sweeteners for decades. You can find books, articles and medical studies dating back for years and years. Once again, the naturally based sweeteners like Stevia, (to a large extent) Trivia, chickory (blech) and many others that are now available are NOT considered artificial sweeteners in this discussion. But put them in carbonated beverages and they are very likely not a good choice because there has recently been discussion that carbonation is not good for the human body (bones, etc.). Please don't ask me to source for you. We all have Google and libraries I'm not trying to be rude but there's always someone who wants me to work overtime.

I am very worried that I may need help.

I have very little to add except going to the Doctor is the essential call and you've already made it! If blood work doesn't tell what's going on, then they will need to check for obstructions, etc. My very best to you. You look spectacular. Let's hope you feel the same quickly. Are you waist training or over exercising? I ask because either could be causing some of the symptoms, but not all.

    Week 2 post op surgery

You guys are going to find that so many of these foods you crave will be HUGE letdowns. Too sweet. Too salty. Too rich. Too...whatever. Just wait. It’s actually exciting to find the things you no longer really need anymore. Or the things that are enough in just ONE bite. It’s pretty cool.

    Nausea 3 weeks post op

I think your best bet is to call your surgeon or family doctor. I can’t imagine the discomfort!

That is odd! Has it gotten better?!
  11. I had my extensions removed four weeks ago for an unrelated, additional surgery. My hair began falling out about two weeks ago! My hair dresser has been keeping an eye on it for me as we’ve adjusted the extensions since May. Since I have super fine, shoulder length hair, we pretty much just have to take it up to ear or chin length and ride it out for a year or so, I guess. If she thinks it will handle extensions now, we’ll put them in but it looks/feels like I only have about six hairs left right now! ;)

You must not be eating the things your neck likes because it left you! Fantastic! Love the Photo. You look so happy!

    Damage Done?

I’ve heard a lot of chatter about a “reset” that involves going back to basics. Redoing the Stages; Liquids, Purèes then on to regular food again to reset the sleeve. But I think this is for folks who may be over a year out. I really don’t know.

    Chewing

I chew everything to death out of habit. I’m a band to Sleeve revision. My band was so bad that I threw up nearly everything for 12+ years if I didn’t chew to purée (and even then more than half the time). I don’t think I know any other way.

Likewise, BuzzVSG and I have had a very nice conversation. I was snarky with him. I've apologized to him. Nice how a couple of you folks ganged up on me just because I didn't have the same opinion you did. Lovely atmosphere you provide.

Oh, gee, so sorry. I didn't realize class had begun. I thought this was a forum and I was on my free time.

Can you maybe just google? I’m not talking about Stevia, chickory, Truvia...natural based sweeteners. I’m talking about the aspartame, Splenda, Equal, etc. Those you’ll find in most diet drinks unless you seek out the stevia versions. The science has been sound for over a decade. As far as carbonation, it’s a bit more speculative but there are articles and literature available. Again, google. I don’t owe you my time or service. Or don’t. Your health is not my responsibility. Get off my jock, would you please? Every comment I make doesn’t have to be your personal call to arms.

    Started at 29 BMI

I think this is the thread I’ve been looking for. I’m struggling a little fight now. A lot of you know my story. I was a 30 BMI on surgery day. Reached my goal a couple days before three months out. Felt great. Then the Surgeon told me to hold on because I was likely to lose another 20 before my 1 year anniversary. Well, shoot, I’ve lost 7 in the last week! And, I’m not trying. In fact, I’m losing faster now than ever. I’m doing everything I’m supposed to except working out (I just had another, unrelated surgery and have stitches in my head). I’ve tried upping calories by adding healthy foods when I can get then in...I lose more the more I eat! Yesterday, I passed out in the shower. I have no idea what happened. I was surprised to find my husband lifting me out. More blood tests. Again, I’m getting my protein in, getting my liquids, take a comprehensive, prescribed vitamin schedule...I’m following all the rules. I think that starting with a low BMI has put me in a tough spot. I don’t know where another 20 pounds is going to come from. And if I lost 7 pounds this week, it sure seems like it’s going to be a whole lot more in the next 3/4 of a year. I think I’m really frightened. My surgeon just keeps saying, “it’s okay. We’ll get you back up here when your stomach can hold more.” Meanwhile, my primary and psychologist (even my plastic surgeon) are saying, “You can’t afford to lose anymore weight. Yes you have extra skin/fat, but that’s not going anywhere. Health-wise you need to level out.” Btw, my psychologist is a sleeve vet and BariatricPal expert...just a coincidence. I’ve had her for years. I think I’m just venting while I wait for test results. I’m a bit frightened. So used to being strong and energetic. Currently feeling weak and frail.

I tried a diet coke today...

I, too, gave up soda years ago. I was addicted. Never drank anything but diet soda. Diet soda is so bad for a normal body. Artificial sweetener is truly a health nightmare and studies indicate that carbonation may actually be very bad even for a normal digestive system.

    Liquid Vitamins

They made me nauseous when I took them with food and if I took them without I often had diarrhea. I even vomited once.  I stuck it out for a month hoping it would get better.  It did not so no reorder.

Obviously, you had some concern about this based upon prior knowledge that it could be harmful. Read your own post. My response was based on the info you provided. I’m not engaging in any further ridiculous discussion.
