    Do I make the cut?

I too just had my lap band removed and now have a sleeve. That was over a decade of Band Hell I could have done without. I would never recommend a Band. Many Doctors will no longer do them, mine included.

    Stalls

Oh, yes! I know! I’m so grateful for this surgery. And I realize it’s not actually slow. But the “stalls” make it seem so. That’s what I was trying to pass along. Although I’m 20 pounds down from surgery, I’m 100 pounds down from my highest weight 10 years ago. I feel better now than I did in my early 40’s!!!

    Stalls

I hit a three week stall. Now I’m at a 5 week stall. Each seems to want to last a week. I’ve lost twenty pounds in 5 weeks BUT I’ve gone from a size 16 to a 12 SO I know that during these stalls, inches are being lost, the body is doing good things! It’s not just about pounds! You can tell her that. (Let her know I’m no kid! I’ll be 54 in a few months. It’s slower for those of us who have seen a couple rounds!). :)
  4. This seems to be the new way of handling post op for sleeve patients. My surgeon is/was very conservative but my friend and unrelated medical provider is also a Bariatric professional (non-surgical) and your eating plan is how the industry is gearing post-op plans for sleeve patients these days. It’s just hard for most surgeons, hospitals to adapt their mindset. I AM NOT suggesting anyone deviate from their provided post-op plan!
  5. I update my weight through Patient Info when I remember but I never see my info anywhere. Not that I care. I already know my details! 😄
  6. I don’t see anything on left side of my posts! Is that when using a computer? I use my phone.

    This didn't work for me

@Sleeved in DFW :-) First, your respective is sound, you look vibrant, healthy...just lovely and full of life! Second, congrats! Your hard work has already paid off. Finally, you are correct. Age has a lot to do with this. At nearly 54, this post-op loss is much slower than post-op lap band at 42! :) Thankfully, I have far less to lose!

How are the May sleevers doing?

I can manage to get in 60 to 70 grams of Protein a day using a shake in the morning and eggs/meat in small amounts later in day. If I still need more a bit of ricotta or creamy peanut butter gets me there. But I never hit the 90 grams they want me to and getting in over 800 calories a day seems impossible to me without eating crap. I average 400-450. Meanwhile, I use juice Plus capsules for fruit and veggies. I have no real desire for anything sweet right now. Even fruit. Everything still has too much flavor. (5 weeks out).  Liquids are easier than they had been...this Texas heat forces me to drink all day long!

    Tespo Vitamin Machine

I forgot to use the code: 25offpod to get a 25% discount at the Tespo website. Perhaps that will work for you.

    Nexium - 14-days every 4 month limit?

With longterm, uninterrupted use, Nexium and many other PPI’s have been linked to kidney damage. They have also been linked to dementia with Senior users. Perhaps that is why?

How are the May sleevers doing?

I had my Band to Sleeve revision on May 17. I weighed 180 (30 BMI) on day of surgery. I weigh 160 today at 5 weeks out. I’ve been stalled for a week but I’ve stopped stressing about things I can’t control. I’m already halfway to my goal! Not having any trouble with any foods as long as I chew everything to purée consistently.  I had a band for over a decade, that’s just second nature.  I don’t often get hungry but when I do, very small portions of protein rich foods fill me right up.  I’m so pleased with this choice.

    Slow losers

My BMI was 30 on sleeve day. I was actually losing faster pre band to sleeve revision than I am now, HOWEVER, I am much more comfortable and healthy now! Additionally, even though I FEEL like things are going slowly, I just realized that the “only 20 pounds” I’ve lost in these 5 weeks post-op its me HALF WAY to my goal!!!!
  15. The thing is, all of these answers full of very good/correct info aren’t going to help you feel less frustrated. Ugh. I totally get where you’re coming from. It’s going to come off eventually if you’re following the program. Meanwhile, it sucks, sucks, SUCKS, when you lose slowly. Been there. I get it. Hang in there. Really...your patience will be rewarded. Even when it seems nothing is happening, you’ll notice your clothing becoming looser, your face becoming thinner...victories a scale can’t measure.

    Tespo Vitamin Machine

I just placed a one time order to see how I like them. I’m taking Thorne vitamins right now, several a day, several times a day. Not all that convenient. Thanks for making me aware of this option. If I like them, I’ll likely go all in!

    Non sweet protein

Shake It Raw PEa Protein is not sweet. I add it to other shakes to boost the protein and cut their intense flavor.

Can I have a half glass of Wine with a steak

I tried steak at 3.5 eeeks out. I took 5 bites before I was full. Each was approx a 1/4 inch cube. I chewed it until it was like purée/stage one baby food. No probs! It was awesome. I was done (tired of chewing and full). We’re all different. Let your body guide you. Please take small bites and chew the heck out of everything. It slows you down and gives your stomach a break.

I love “Lose it”. I’ve used it for years. It’s simple to use and has everything you need.

When can I Keto - 2 weeks post no loss

You are doing enough work that you are likely building muscle, losing inches and/or setting your body up for the long haul!

When can I Keto - 2 weeks post no loss

I hit my first stall at just about the same place. It’s normal. Hang in there. Over five weeks post-op now, I’m getting protein (shakes/lean meats) water, and supplements in but barely hit 600-700 calories in a day. Losing again. High energy. Great blood tests. Just keep on keeping.

    Pity Party - WAAAAAAAH!

I don’t know if this will help (you probably already tried this) but I chew everything until it is the consistency of puréed food before swallowing. Every bite. It takes forever. As a former lap bander, it’s second nature.

    C-section pain vs Sleeve pain?

If a c-section is a white hot bolt of lightning, sleeve surgery is barely a spark from the carpet.

    Staples or stitches

I had 7 incisions. They used a glue that I assume was called Dermabond.

Let's hear some normal poop stories

It took me exactly 1 month to normalize. Prior to that I never felt full in control. Now, everything is A-okay!
