Almost 6 months post op. Here is my dinner

Here’s some tough love for you. You have so little to be proud in your life you wear a-hole as a badge of honour. Your world is so small and you are so meaningless within it that you come on a support group to put people down. You are irrelevant in this world and it burns you up inside. Your only way of connecting with people, which you are so desperate to do, is by putting people down. I hope you get the help you need.
  3. Sorry you’re feeling down. I’ve had times of feeling the same and more than one argument with family since getting the sleeve a week ago, so don’t feel alone. You’re feelings are all valid, of course you miss your cat and are sad. Crying is allowed. And you’re not acting like a third grader. You’re acting like someone who has gone through something pretty big, is adjusting to a new life, is missing home and a beloved pet. Big hugs to you.

    Not losing like we should

Can I ask what the rationale for increasing calorie intake is?

    Hi

Hey! I had my sleeve 24 May and joined the forum just before that. It’s an amazing forum with wonderful, welcoming and wise people. You’ll feel at home here really fast :)

    How am I gaining weight?!

Just like me!!! I have a love hate relationship with the scale. I’m almost as addicted to the scale as I am to food!
  9. My endocrinologist who I see for PCOS recommended 12 months of weight stability. The reasoning behind this is that when you drop a lot of weight the body has evolved to think that there has been a reason such as drought or other disaster leading to a food shortage. This then impacts the baby not through the form of birth defects but impacts on long term metabolic outcomes because the child ‘thinks’ it’s being born into a environment with not enough food. I haven’t looked into this myself because it sounded logical and she talk about a lot of research!

Just wondering how often you’re weighing yourself?

Developed a rash after being sleeved

Frustr8, I feel you are the guardian angel of this forum! You are so thoughtful, kind and encouraging! So many good wishes from me to you.
  12. I’ll be honest, I had feelings of regret the first two days. I’m less than a week out but really happy with my decision. Good luck and let us know how you go!

Developed a rash after being sleeved

Thanks, Frustr8. Been inside all day so I’ve been ok. It’s raining now too, so that will help!

    To tell coworkers or not?

I’ve only told close family. For me I couldn’t think of a good enough reason to tell colleagues. Will they help me in achieving my goals? Not likely. Do I value their opinions on health issues? Nope. Do they need to know? Absolutely not. Will it make it hard to work with them if they say something offensive? Absolutely. I like to keep things simple, so I kept work out of it.

Any sleevers that formerly had bands?

I’m only 5 days out of having the sleeve after having had the band removed. Pain after surgery and recovery have been much harder than the band. I’ve been really hungry and able to drink a lot of liquids. However compared to the band the immediate effects are more noticeable.

Developed a rash after being sleeved

I had an itchy rash but that was reaction to the painkillers! Agree with Diana_in_Philly.
  18. Had my sleeve done two days ago. Finished up two nights in hospital and have been discharged. Learnt that I have diabetes and being sent home with insulin. Lots to take in and get my head around. I can drink quite a bit of water but still feel so thirsty with a dry mouth. Looking forward to seeing what the coming days and weeks bring.

    Surgery, “it’s the easy way.”

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Cas_-bVYcS4&t=16s Sorry that you had to be in that conversation. I think most people here have someone like that in their life. I found this video very funny and insightful into others motives for what they say. Hope it helps!

    Not sure it's working

I’m feeling the same way too 5 days out. I feel I can eat a lot more food than I am meant to. I dream about cake. Don’t feel alone! I got no suggestions though but can definitely empathise!

    when did everyone first poop?

I had a diet cordial that triggered DS three days post op. Was terrible but kind of a relief at the same time.

    Busting outta hospital

Exactly what happened to me with bloods in the hospital. The nurses went crazy and the endocrinologist had them checking my blood sugars every 6 hours. They send in another doctor to take blood from my artery as opposed to the vien to do other tests. Fingers crossed I’ll be off the insulin soon!
  23. On 24 May I'll be getting a gastric sleeve. I work a crazy day job sitting behind a desk for hours on end, rushing from one meeting to the next and eat all kinds of junk whenever I can. I have some serious anxiety/emotional eating issues that I am working through with a psychotherapist. I've booked in for weekly visits post op with the nurse at my GPs clinic so trying to stay accountable. Any other tips on staying accountable with weight loss? Anyone else an emotional eater that may have some advice for me?

    Busting outta hospital

I had bloods done before but they were thinking insulin resistance. Then my bloods went all over the place in hospital!
