    June RNY buddies?

@Trixie82 - You're so sweet to check in on me. I do think today is better than yesterday but definitely slow and minimal improvements. I'm not sleeping as much as I was in the hospital so that's a plus. I have almost 30 oz. of liquids in, but man it's hard!!! Getting up from the couch or turning and getting up from bed is very painful still so I'm staying on the pain meds for a bit longer. Some of the bloating has gone down but it's very minimal. I'm so happy I still have 9 days left to heal before work. You have had an amazing healing and have lost so much weight already. That's so awesome. Keep up the amazing work. I'm headed into an evening of Netflix binging.

Ok, thank you for sharing! I just took two tiny sips. Maybe tomorrow will be easier! I did get the bags of vitamins/fluids this morning through the IV so hopefully I’ll be ok with the wee bit I got in by myself. Tomorrow is a New Day!

@Trixie82! I’m so jelly of your numbing shots. That sounds incredible! What a relief you had. I’ll count day #5 as lunch time approaches tomorrow and see if I’m feeling much better after another night and morning of rest. ?: do you guys feel that sensation after a too big of a sip and feel it going down to your pouch? How long after 1 sip of water do you wait until you take your next sip? Are you drinking all day?

Thank you so much @Trixie82 .... did you count surgery day as #1? If so I’ll be at day #5 tomorrow. I just want to be able to move without so much discomfort. I know today was better than yesterday so I’m hopeful tomorrow will be even better. It’s crazy how almost all of us on here have had surgery now. Sometimes when I wake up, I have to pinch myself and remember I’m already on the other side. I keep forgetting.

RobR44134 —- thanks for the tip. I may take some of the Gas X to see if that helps. Awwwww Yes, KC to Cleveland still has stops and makes for a long trip. You’ll love KC. I don’t spend a lot of time in Olathe but can definitely recommend my team at KU Med in Overland Park.

You’re doing awesome @Hal711! I wish I could take that many ounces in. I’ll focus on more tomorrow. Also, sorry for the TMI but I tooted a little this afternoon. Felt great to get rid of some of the bloating. Haha.

@New challenge - I had to look up what a lollipop lady was . I love the sound of that. Now I’m envisioning you passing out lollipops while directing school traffic and safely getting kids to cross the street. ;) Thanks for all your encouragement! It will be so great to have the rest of the school summer holiday off for you. I’m taking it super easy at home. I’ve been forcing all day to take sips of a protein water but that is only 16.9 oz. somehow I need to still get more in. I’m just so full. Also trying to walk around my family room (in the air conditioning). The temps outside are close to 100 degrees Fahrenheit today. @Hal711 -

Hall711 - how many ices ounces of liquids are you getting in? I’ve maybe got 12 or so, so far. 😬 I’m going to start all my vitamins tomorrow so hopefully that helps with some energy. I got home a few hours and should not have weighed myself. I gained 10 lbs during surgery.

Thank you for all the hope @New challenge. The visual I’m getting of going through the muscle gives me an understanding of the pain. I wonder how long before it heals and doesn’t feel so tender and burning anymore? The back pain totally subsided yesterday which was incredible but also a distraction to my surgery entry points. Now, that’s all I feel when I move around. I did get that metal taste when they flushed out with saline in my veins. I’ll probably stay on the codeine for now until I get home and then begin switching to Tylenol. I want to be able to drive again hopefully by week #2.

LOL - that made me laugh. It’s major surgery so thank you for your pity. I’m usually pretty tough with pain. Guess I’m getting older and know I don’t like the feeling of not feeling normal. Pain sucks but this too shall pass. And, I meant my surgery was 6/25 in my post. I’ve lost all track of time this week. You’re right! They are treating me amazing here. Everyone is so happy and loves their job. How are you feeling @Missouri-Lee’s Summit? It’s been a week and a half now hasn’t it? How’s your progress?

@Hal711. You’re the sweetest to check in on me. How is your pain now? I remember you asking others right after your surgery. My pain is what I was not expecting. First, it was my back. It was a constant throb even with pain meds. I guess it was from how they positioned me during surgery on the table. Now it’s all about the left side where the main entry point was on my abdomen. It’s so hard to get out of bed and shift around. I learned quickly to stay on top of the pain meds or else I would feel really lousy. I actually stayed an extra night by choice because the nurse staff are sooooo sweet and so pampering. It will be harder when I get home as I’ll have to really work on liquids. I can barely stomach anything right now so the bag of vitamins/liquids they give constantly are helping me survive. I’m pretty drowsy most of the time from the Oxycodone and nausea meds but sleeping it off feels good. It’s crazy how I have no hunger. I’ve eaten nothing since I’ve been here which was Monday 7/25 and today I’m entering my 4th day. The surgeon is going to discharge me today so I believe I’ll be going home around Noon. We have a circular hallway walk on my floor I’m on that measures 400 meters so I’ve been trying to make the loop a minimum of 4 times per day so I can get a mile in. Mentally I think I’m ok. I just worry about eating and drinking. It’s such a challenge but I know Incan do it. How are you? Tired still? Just taking Tylenol? Thanks again for checking in on me. Means a lot.

    Surgery Scars

Thank you so much for sharing. They definitely seem noticeable up close but nice and white. I wonder if sunning/tanning would help or make them look worse? Love how your surgeon went back into the same entry site to take out your gallblader. Very nice and neat. I've always used Mederma in the past but may have to try the silicone sheets. Thanks again for sharing and CONGRATS on the weight loss!

    Surgery Scars

Anyone willing to post photos of their surgery scars especially those that are at least 6 months + out? I'm not looking forward to the scars because I already had a tummy tuck. I kind of have done most things in reverse order. I should have had surgery first. Oh well! I'm excited for this journey! Surgery is on MONDAY! Yikes!

They told me the regular small ones were fine because they are small. And it wouldnt hurt to take them before hand. Ok, I'll take one tonight. Surgery is on Monday and they just bumped me up from 12:30 P.M. to 11 A.M. Things are getting real. I'm ready to lose this weight!!! Woot, woot!

I'm sorry for your trouble but I'm thankful for you sharing, @Hal711. Can we swallow the regular tablet stool softeners after surgery? Also, do you recommend starting a couple days before surgery already?

Yay! Good to know the side sleeping is working. I got a pregnancy pillow so hoping that will aid some relief in early days along with lots of extra other fluff.

How long do we have to sleep on our backs? I'm a side sleeper too.

Hi there: I've lost 10 lbs. in 10 days on my pre-op diet. So thrilled! My goal is to lose 100 lbs. total so I feel good about the jump start as I have 90 to go. My surgery date is 4 days away. Eeeek! @Hal711 - I think I'll order some of those Fruit Punch Premier Protein waters. They sound great!

I can only imagine the night before jitters. Thinking of you, @Trixie82. Just think about all the reasons why you wanted the surgery. Think about all the positive things and love in your life and carry those happy thoughts with you. You're about to go take a really nice nap tomorrow and everything is going to feel like puppies and rainbows. Know that we are here for you when you're ready. You're about to embark on an incredible journey and I can't wait to join you! All the best.
