    Mrsa

Just a few more things for you to think about. I am active in a divisional hospital wide council and today we had a meeting and there was the infection control specialist. The MRSA infections are down at hospitals however the Community Acquired MRSA is up. We are seeing people in the ER who have what they think are spider bites on the legs thighs and buttocks and when tested it is Community acquired MRSA. So just a little fyi...someone with mrsa sits on the toilet with an open wound and you happen to have a scratch.......there is an open area for it to enter your body. Always use the toilet seat covers if unable to squat and hand washing is essential. The problems with the Community acquired ones are they are harder to treat and some are considered VRSA......Resistant to the Vanco which is what is used to treat MRSA. So all MRSA infections are not acquired from surgeries they are acquired in many other ways. Nursing home stays etc......have to always make sure you and your nurses doctors etc use the best clean/sterile techniques possible and always always always wash hands before and after contact with patients.

MI doc says 25% do not loose wgt

Ok first of all I am not a nurse who knows or works with DR Pleatman.....But working in a hospital on a surgical trauma unit I have first hand seen several reversals of Gastric weightloss surgery. Particularly the RNY! He is not crazy and he is not just blowing smoke up your butts.......it can be done. It is not an easy surgery and there are alot of chances for several complications as well as the complications that you can have for having it done in the first place. So please give him a much needed break. He does know his stuff. He has said on several occassions to check out all information on your own and not to take what he said as word.........SO INVESTIGATE ON YOUR OWN!!! My hats off to him for being an honest and caring physican. He is one that offers free fills and free conversions if necessary when you have him do your lap banding. Come on how many do that in the states????? Very very very few.
  3. OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!!! I have my friend here and showing her the site and we are laughing so hard that its hard to control the FUPA Functions...like the FUPAPEEING.........Fupa pushups are the next on our list...........As well as a book from DALARLA so that we too can have the benwa balls...........WWWWWOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOO Is the FUPA federation a new club that we can join........As we sit here saying PICK ME PICK ME.........Keep up the laughs please as they are much needed. Trying to get her to join in with us and the fun of the FUPA and XXXX posts as well as the wonderful insiteful lessons of lap banding. Thanks for the wonderful entertainment.

    Evil Minds Unite

Vasiline to the door handles and the windshield wiper blades (just a thin coating will do lots of damage) I did this when I was in highschool to someone that was causing me much grief. It was a pain in the butt to get off and no one could do anything to me as it wasn't technically vandalism since nothing was destroyed and it was funny as hell to watch her try and get in the car and her hands be all nasty then when she turned on the windshield wipers it made a nasty coating on the windshield of the car! I still laugh about that one to this day as do those that went with me to do this. Lemburger cheese in the heat vent to the car is nasty as well as it already smells and when you turn the heat on the smell intensifies and they can't figure out where it is coming from.

    Chatroom Ghosts

I close out with the little red x and it still leaves me as being in there. Its weird to see my name on the chat room list when I am really not there anymore...........ghosts..........bugs............maybe it is my other personality that is wishing I were still there and had someone to talk to. Hee hee......gesh I have some issues.....lol At least we all now know we are not alone in this matter(not the having issues but the still there when we are gone and people going out as we come in.)

Accidentally Ripped off my Steri Strip

When was your surgery? Was it starting to roll off on its own? I would advise you to go to the drug store and get some more steri strips or a butterfly bandaid. As you apply it sorta make sure that the two edges are well approximated. That way you will heal with as little scare as possible. I have seen those return to the hospital because they didn't believe us when we told them to not pull off the steri strip to let it come off on its own.....and low and behold they had terrible problems resulting up to and including the entire incision line reopening and had to have staples, sutures and or packing because of the whole that was produced along with some infection. Don't want to scare you just want you to know that this can be a serious issue. However if it is like 3-4 weeks post op it will be ok and it almost healed and the bleeding was just from the scab coming off. Hope this information helps
  8. Erin, I am so sorry to hear about your issues that you are having that is absolutely terrible. Being that I work on surgery trauma unit we use wound vacs very regularly. I have seen personally that the use of wound vacs has shortened the healing times for wounds and have also seen where the wound vac has actually caused the wounds to tunnel and get much deeper. Then is when we start the two to three times a day with the packing dressing changes. I also did home care for many years before working at the hospital and can say I saw the same thing there. Make sure that you stress to your Dr. your concerns and ask him or her to see a wound care specialist. Almost every hospital does have a wound care Dr or Nurse Practitioner who specializes in this area. They have access to them. You have a right for a second opinion specially when it comes to something so serious. I wish you the best of luck and if you have any questions please feel free to contact me and I will see what I can do to help you. Praying for you to have a speedy recovery!

    *ADULT* I Miss Grrreat Sex.....

My my my what a subject that we have touched on here. For some reason it makes no difference to me that I am heavy or if I were still skinny. I guess I am just a FREAK in the bed(been told that on several occassions) how can something so natural make one a freak? Have tried several things but have to admit never tried the splenda thing......thanks for the idea. I have been known to do the outside thing, under the waterfalls at a local reserve with falls was way too cool. Yeah I know TMI>>>LOL. Various positions (sideways in several sideway positions included) is always a great thing. Keeps it interesting and they (our men) never know what to expect next. Don't be ashamed of your size just do what comes naturally and FEELS OHHHHHHH SOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOD!

    Turkey Neck?

There are a few neck, head exercises out there that do help with the extra saggy neck skin. I know that I have seen them in the Michael Thurman 6 wk makeover(which doesn't work by the way) But it has some cool exercises in it. I will see if I can get someone to scan them and send them to you. But it will be closer to the end of the week before I can get it done. Hope it helps. It did help firm mine up some and will continue to do them when and if I ever get banded! Congratulations on your weight loss!!
  11. Personally I have a coochie. As my other half always tells me......its my own personal hoochie with a coochie, Bad huh?

Not band related, Maybe XXX, maybe some arguing...

HUMMMMMMMM all interesting subjects mentioned here.......those that love to argue and fight and take offense need to go elsewhere to do so. As all of you have stated, how hard is it to not read something you don't agree with? I mean....if walking by an adult book store you can do two things walk by or go in and see if theres anything you might want....LOL I, however, would have to walk in and take a peak and maybe purchase something...hee hee SO, with the above people, I concur that sex is good and you can talk all you want and I will not be offended. The arguments must stop because someone was offended by what someone said in GENERAL not DIRECTED AT A SPECIFIC PERSON OR PERSONS! This is a web site for adults...why can't we all just act like adults and use our own discressions as to what we want to read and if we don't like the subject get the Hell out.....you can leave just as easy as you get in! If this offends someone.......thats on you!(mean aren't I) This is where the I statement thing comes in effect. You are the one that makes yourself feel some way not someone else that causes you to feel that way. Their action can cause YOU to feel a way but they themselves are not personally responsible.(thats what I learned in counciling what about you?)

    Iud??????

Major side effect of the Depro provera birth control shot is WEIGHT GAIN!!! Unfortunatly the weight that you gain from the shot isn't as easy to get off as it is to put on. I gained 85 lbs in 7 months. They didn't tell me that was a major side effect and it was well before I was a nurse. But, I at that time had decided I would rather be fat then pregnant as I had just had two babies back to back. Think very long and hard if you decide to do the shot, Very few %of people don't have weight gain but when you are banded who would want to chance that it hindered what you fought so hard for?

    Hypoglycemic

High protein drinks are definitely a plus when it comes to substaining a better blood glucose level. Protein takes longer to break down in the body so it is released at a slower pace then certain carbs and sugars. Glad I can help. Usually you can get the liquid glucose in a set of three tubes. They are recappable which is a plus so you don't waste what you don't use.

    Hypoglycemic

You can always carry some liquid glucose tubes. Easy to ingest, easier to get down the chewing the daylights out of the glucose tablets. You can always do the protein drinks(protein helps keep your blood glucose levels up and from bottoming out like you can with just raw glucose) that have a higher sugar content in them that will also help keep your blood glucose levels up. It is much easier to test more frequently then normal or if you dont have a meter then to just keep the glucose tubes with you at all times and sip on something protein with sugar in it all the time. Juice is a good way to bring it up as well. Hope this is of some help.

    Tilapia Fish

Orange Roughy is just as good, doesnt taste as fishy. Little more expensive however. Both are great broiled with little butter and lemon pepper or just spray with pan and broil.....(great on grill outside also on foil). It is light and flaky and very yummmmmmmy
  20. Hummmmm I am only gonna live til I am 82. Thats the year I graduated. But if I find me a goodman then my years increase......lol go figure....somehow it always comes back to a man being involved one way or another......lmao
  21. When I started at the hospital we had a choice between UHC and Anthum...I loved my Anthum. Then there were issues as to what they were being reembursed through Anthem.....next year UHC only last year and again this year. Then after we were assigned UHC they resigned a contract with Anthum. Sucks to be us. We were told if we wanted this surgery being it is elective to them then it has to be paid in full prior to admission. When they had the Anthum and the UHC my first year there it was offered and had no issues with Anthum for WLS and UHC did pay for it as well. Not as readily but they did. Now nothing at all. I also have thought about your suggestion to a part time job somewhere that covers the surgery.....but most companies don't offer part time benefits like that. Plus you don't know what the coverage is until you are employed with the company. Thank you so much for the brain storming for me. I also have to say I am extremely jealous of your insurance coverages. I pay out the a*$ for mine and it literally sucks. Co pays for sripts went up....what i paid $10 for in dec is not $30. I went into health care for better benefits and insurance. Sometimes think I was better off as a hairdresser with little of anything......Sigh!
  22. Alex, Thanks for the wonderful thoughts.......I asked about the discount the answer to that one was ummmmmmmmmmm NO. I then asked about payroll deducting it..........the answer to that was NO!! If it can't be paid for in 2 payments then we won't do it. We also asked about going through HR and having it or should I say tryint to have it appealed and decided on through them. They replied with a We just got anthem back so its going to be awhile before we take on something else soo big. Too a few of us the only thing we see big is our selves. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Maybe in a year or so they might include it but I am to the point I don't feel I have another year with all this extra weight! Why have a service offered at your hospital and the employees can't benifit from it?
  23. NurseTeresa

    So frustrated... need suggestions...

Call your doctor and explain to him what happened maybe he can call one of the drs and set up an emergency appointment to see you. Sometimes they will do something when asked by a fellow surgeon then by the patients. Its worth a try!
  24. I am so jealous. I also have UHC and they won't pay for anysort of weightloss at all not pills not diets and definitely not WLS. So much for being a nurse and working at a hospital. My insurance sucks. Where do I go from here? Can anyone tell me? I am single mother and barely make it now but need this surgery to make sure I can live many many more years. My weight is going up as well as my age. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
