Can anyone provide info on Dr Vincent Vanek?

Where are they from? sorry have no info to help you with regarding them. You can always enter their name in the search on here and see if it comes up with anything on them.

What do you do if you can not finance it?

Destiny unfortunately there are some companies that have UHC as their insurance and they have an exclusion writtien into their policy about weightloss surgeries. It is normally an exclusion that the employer has chosen. I work in a hospital on a barriatric unit and my UHC doesn't cover it either. All the fighting in the world got me NO WHERE! I am trying to save and wishing that someone would give a person like me with crapy credit a loan. Best wishes!

Hello Ohio, let's get this started

Disco Diva...Why did the dr put a filter in? Are you prone to DVT's(blood clots?) I have seen that done several times but usually only if the patient has had a history of them. They also do it postop if the patient develops them and they are not responding well to heprin therapy. It is good that he thought about it. That is a wonderful filter that has saved several lives. Surgery will be a brease for you. Worst part is the sore throat after from the intibation and the gas pains. Just walk walk walk and did I say walk. The more you walk the less the gas pains will be noted. More you lay around the more it just settles in your back, shoulders, neck or chest and it isnt a feeling that I can tell you first hand is pleasant! Wishing you and your daughter the best of luck! Paige....glad that you are doing better. Too bad its not the same as when you had a major surgery and they removed the galbladder at that time. Insurance wont cover it anymore. Lisa...how are you feeling? anybetter?
  9. NurseTeresa

Pain that just won't go away?

Just a little FYI.....I had all those tests too from the hydascan to lab work and ultrasounds and ct scans etc...all said that my gallbladder was normal. Pain eventually got so bad I couldn't walk, let alone breath. Guess what. Talked to a surgeon at work and he said he bet it was it even though the tests said no....he was right. He said it looked nasty when he removed it. Never had a pain like that again. So just because they say everything is normal doesn't necessarily mean it is. On the flip side of it if you don't like the fact of a chiropractor to manipulate you go see a D. O doctor of osteopath. They treat the entire body including any manipulations that need to be done. Just thought I would throw a few things at you. Keep us posted. Good luck with the pain and finding the cause!

Anyone Please! Have any of you financed?

Judy...have you heard anything yet? My credit like yours sucks and am trying to find somewhere to try that might accept me. Does anyone know if there are any of the Drs that will finance it themselves and let you pay them with some money down and then making payments to them?

Anyone from dayton area a member of....

Hi Debbie! I actually live in Vandalia...work at Good Sam Hospital. No I don't have a dr at this time as I am going to have to be self pay and am trying to save the money. Sometimes I wonder if I will ever get there. It gets very discouraging. Congratulations on the date for yourself and your daughter! That is fantastic! Would love to keep in touch with you. I can't believe that someone actually lives so close to me. Off to bed now...just got off of work and have to work again tonight. Have a great day!

Thanks Miss Banster for the suggestion of an mp3 player. I do not have one. Today I took a steamy book to read while on the treadmill. Was it sorta exciting....lol kept reading and walking and walking and reading. I just didnt have the balls to put my big butt in a golds gym with all those beautiful bodies! They would go runnin the opposite direction if they saw me walking in the door.

Hello Ohio, let's get this started

Congratulations for your approval for yourself and your daughter. I hope that your process from your appt with the dr to time of surgery isnt a long one. Keep us posted. That would be a great question to ask him during your appt. IF he does use staples you can always request him use dermabond and tegaderms or steri strips instead. I can't see why he wouldn't.

    columbus ohio lapband surgeon?

I don't know of any in the columbus area but do know that there are alot of people from Columbus that go to cincinnati to Dr. Curry and to dayton to the drs here that do it. Good luck in your search.

Hello Ohio, let's get this started

Isopure is a great source of protein. You can get it at gnc also. I have never seen it at any of the gnc's inside of the drug stores or krogers stores. Only in the regular gnc stores.

Hello Ohio, let's get this started

Paige....I am so glad that your surgery went well. Sorry that I haven't had to post anything since I went back to work last thursday. I can not believe that the hospital released you to drive home alone. AT my hospital if you dont have a ride you don't go. If something would have happened to you driving home it would have been their responsibility. Bless your heart. You could have stayed at my house with my loud kids when I was working. But at least you would have been safe and in a soft bed. Keep up the good work with your walking.

    anybody out there?

Dr C. Sorry if that last posting was confusing. The question I was asking was how long would you keep a floor nurse off of work after being banded. Just sort of need a ball park idea how much work I would have to miss or if I could possibly just miss a few days and then go back. Didnt know if the tugging and pulling etc would be an issue with returning back to my job. Thanks again!

    anybody out there?

Hey Dr C....just a short question please that is if you don't mind. How long do you normally keep your patients who are nurses and work the floor in a hospital off after banding? Thanks for your time. Happy New Year!

    Steri-Strip Fall off Time

WE tell our patients to not pull them off to let them come off on their own. When they start to peel off on the ends its best to cut that extra part off. I have first hand witnessed someones incision reopen because they were impatient and pulled off their steri strips. It was not fun for her. I personally have had several surgeries and just let them come off on their own. Unless they have peeled off of the incision and just attatched to the skin.. Just an opinion and first hand experience on what I have witnessed. That also leaves a bigger scar once it has reopened.

    Surgons in Kentucky

I am not sure of ones in Kentucky, but do know that Dr. Curry in cincinnati does alot of patients from the entire Ohio, Kentucky area. Its not that aweful far from Lousiville to Cincinnati. Just a thought to consider.

Hello Ohio, let's get this started

Christine, The surgery is very cool to watch. Watching the RNY absolutely scared the shit out of me. So far I have not seen any drawbacks personally to the Band. The rny is a completely different story. There is always a chance of complications with any surgeries. That is a risk everyone takes when having any type of surgery. This is a tool that you will have to work with. It isnt something that just does everything for you without you putting work into it as well. There are alot of changes that you have to make to make this successful. If you read through the postings on here you will be able to see the drawbacks that some people have had. Just because something happens to someone doesnt mean that it will happen to you and vice versa. If there is anything else you want feel free to contact me. I will then try and help you all I can. People on this site are very helpful as well. Good luck in your search. Happy New Years!

Hello Ohio, let's get this started

Mindful I was trying to say that I like Linadu work nights so it would be better for a day meeting. Hard to do night meetings if we are at work. I am not sure about Linadu but I work 650p til after 730 am so that would make it impossible for me to attend anything at night. time I will be off. Happy New Years to everyone also. I spent it with some friends but was so ready to be back home way before new years stuck. Would have rather been home and in the bed. I really can't stand being with a group of drunks let alone a group or couples and I was all alone.
