Any advice on how to constantly lose weight? I have a 34-35 BMI and surgery is Wednesday. I want to make the most of itOn 04/14/2018 at 09:48, elle2 said: -
Was the weight loss steady? Any tipsOn 04/13/2018 at 18:21, sharonintx said:
I had a BMI of 36, self pay in Mexico, had no problems during or after surgery, have lost about 70 lbs, gain a few sometimes and have to eat more carefully.
Overall good.

I just hadn’t found the logic in the pre op but hey I’m not the doctorOn 06/02/2018 at 05:58, okayestmom said:
I do understand shrinking the liver, but I am sleeping 12 hours a day on this pre-op diet. 1000 cal a day isn't cutting it for me. I am also supposed to be exercising more, but i just don't have the energy. I went from 10,000 steps to only 8,000 some days. I've lost 8 pounds since I started. Nine more days until surgery and only 3 more work days until I am off contract. Maybe I can just sleep until my surgery date. I feel like I have to follow the diet since all my other health tests didn't come out so great, but I also feel like this can't be healthy.

I have surgery Monday and I’m the Grinch that Wanted to Eat Everything. I absolutely don’t want another Protein Shake and Monday can’t get here fast enough. Holy crow this is hard when we do still have the ability to eat more than we should. Ugh!
Hang in there everyone!Frustr8 reacted to this -
I’m already at 35 BMI if I lose 9 lbs I’ll be 34 BMI so it’s weird that I even need a pre opOn 06/02/2018 at 04:12, Polymorphing said:
The hospital I go to doesn't even recommend a pre-op diet. My doctor said that no amount of restraint pre-op will prepare you for the new lifestyle post-op and honestly eat whatever you want, maybe you'll call that bad advice, but he was right. I'm a little over 3 months out, lost 48 pounds. Don't fret it. What I do now, and the type of restraint I do now is vastly different from anything I've worked with before.

Who is your doctor? Mine has all the prescribed for me tooOn 06/02/2018 at 07:14, Hope2018 said:
As for nausea, my doctor ordered a scopolamine patch. I’m supposed to put it on behind my ear the night before surgery. I also filled a bunch of prescriptions that I’m supposed to have at home for after the surgery - meds for nausea, Constipation, etc. all in liquids or crushable form for post surgery.

I wasn't perfect on pre-op, I ate some tuna twice because I was a basket case. Just hang in there. Napping and long walks helped a little. You can get through this stage.
Makes sense. I gagged every time I made a shake. I finally found a clear drink. So far so good but I’m not getting enough inOn 05/31/2018 at 21:52, LaLaDee said:
Look, the surgery is harder for the surgeon if your liver is very enlarged, but it’s pretty rare that they aren’t able to do it.
That said, I wanted to minimize any chance of being under anesthesia for longer so I was pretty strict with my diet. I just drank Protein Shakes. Easy. No chance to think and screw up.
good luck!
That makes me feel much better!!!!On 05/31/2018 at 21:45, abefroman329 said:
I’m not gonna recommend you do this, but I failed at the pre-op diet HARD. I managed to lose ten pounds but that’s because I ate like a king for the two months prior to that, so my surgeon’s office thought I lost zero pounds. And they were able to do the surgery, and it was a roaring success. So don’t sweat it!
I know rightOn 05/31/2018 at 21:32, abefroman329 said:

I'm not there yet so I can't imagine how hard it is but I am here to offer support. You've had the strength to come this far knowing this time would come. You had the strength to make the decision to make this change in your life. Dig deep and find the strength to get through this part of it. We are all rooting you on!!!!

TBH, the pre op diet was harder than the post op. Because I *could* still eat stuff.

This is important for your health and your quick recovery. You can do it!!!! I have faith in you.
I’m 6 days out from surgery and although I’ve lost about 4 lbs I haven’t been following correctly at all. My BMI is a 35 but I’m scared that my liver hasn’t shrunk. Hopefully I can get it together!
June 6th! I haven’t even started buying stuff for after the surgery. But I plan to make some Soups and get more of the Premier Protein clear drinks and case loads of Water
You should be both lol I know I am!! I’m the 6th!!!On 05/30/2018 at 12:48, Sara S. said:
