  1. First of the year check in, surgery was June 15th I’m down 43lbs currently at 159lbs my loss has been slow and steady which was expected. My dr. Told me to aim for an average of 5lbs a month to stay on track and so far that that’s my average. My total goal was to get to about 125/135. I went from a size 14 to a size 8 currently. Honestly I’m pefrecetly comfortable with my weight and size, however I’m going to keep pushing to meet my goal set by my dr. The biggest reason is because he told me to expect a gain when I hit my maintenance stage. So I will hit my goal so when I gain stay in my comfort zone. This year I’m going to concentrate on trying to make it to the gym 3-4 times a week and build some muscle and some much lost booty lol. Other then that I’m happy to report that I’m the healthiest I’ve been in 7+ years. I’m the most comfortable and confident I’ve been ever I think. I’m looking forward to seeing what changes this year brings and I’m excited to keep sharing and being motivated by all of our June Sleevers. You guys are doing amazing.

First picture is me at about 190lbs Thanksgiving 2017

  2. I hated taking pictures before that really showed my weight so I don’t have a lot.... this was last thanksgiving and it’s not my heaviest.... I was at about 190 in these pictures my highest weight was 202.... and the current is from today.... I just happened to catch a glimpse of myself as I was walking out of my bathroom and thought omg that’s really me!! I’m down two sizes and not where I want to be but I’m so much closer. I feel good in my clothes and in my skin.... this was truly the best decision I ever made.

  3. Hey guys its been a while,

Checking in to see how progress is going, I'm still slow and steady.... Still can not eat salads which makes me a little sad because i've been craving chick-fil-a salads and every time i eat them i'm sick for a few days. Avacados also bother me but not as bad anymore. Carbs are still my bestfriends and i'm trying to slowly kill that relationship lol. Hope everyone is hitting there mile stones. Would love some picture updates for motivation. I will post this afternoon!

HEY GUYS! SLEEVED 6/12 LOST 45LBS AND HAVENT LOST ANYTHING ELSE SINCE. I DO NOTICE MY CLOTHES FIT SO MUCH BETTER WENT FROM A SIZE 20 TO WEARING A SIZE 14 WHICH IS STARTING TO FIT LOOSE SO I GUESS I DONT MIND THE scale NOT MOVING. BUT IF YOU GUYS HAVE ANY ADVISE ON HOW TO GET OUT OF A STALL PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I HAVE TRIED FASTING, IM ON Keto LOST 2 POUNDS BUT AT A STALL AGAIN. I FEEL LIKE I CAN EAT EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING :( GUESS THE HUNGER PAINS ARE STILL THERE THAT HASNT CHANGED.

LET ME KNOW YOUR MEALS ON A DAY TO DAY BASIS!! :)

Do you take anti acids pills on the daily? I only ask because i'm the worst at remembering to take those but when i get into a pretty good routine of taking them my hunger goes down quite a bit and my scale starts to move. To be honest i don't eat like i should. but if i remember to take my anti-acid pills regularly I have consistently lost about 5 lbs a month which is what my goal was per my Dr.

my "water only diet" was involuntary , I was really sick after my surgery I was hospitalized due to dehydration, unable to keep anything down not even Water I was throwing up all day. lost 45 pounds from june 12-july 30th.

I was told not to do Keto after the surgery because of the high fat, can cause ulcers and possible gallbladder removal. no idea how those two work together but that's what I was told by a nurse right before my surgery lol. my husband is on keto he didn't get surgery and looks amazing so it works I'm just worried because of what that nurse told me.

    thank you for you response!!

Oh No sorry to hear that you were so sick, I'm glad your doing better now and are able to keep things down.... The keto thing makes sense with the high fat causing gallbladder issues. I recently learned that the gallbladder helps break down fatty tissue. So maybe a high fat diet can overload your gallbladder... that my doctoring for the day lol.

I did the keto thing for a while before surgery but as i stated before I'm in love with carbs and we have a bad relationship its one sided... I get all the bad stuff out of it. Anyways I really hope those videos help and you get past your stall soon.

is anyone stalled? I had surgery 6/12. went a month without eating only on Water. lost 45 UNHEALTHY POUNDS as per my surgeon. started eating again august 6. I can keep down everything in 1 ounce 2-3 intervals. but I'm stalled haven't gained or lost anything in 2-4 weeks anyone know to break the stall without going back to liquids? I was thinking of intermittent fasting. eating for 8 hours and fasting for 16. any suggestions?

I have a few questions so I might understand your predicament better.... So you had surgery on 6/12.... When did your Dr. have you go on the Water only diet? From what date to to what date did you lose the 45lbs?

Soooo I'm not a Dr. however I have had several stalls and my Dr. said they would be normal. He told me that my body would need time to adjust in between drops of weight. So ive lost 28 pounds since my surgery on 6/15. 17 of that weight came off the first month, After that i've averaged about 5lbs a month. Now i say averaged but in reality I have stalled for 2-3 weeks then had movement in the scale of a few lbs for 1-2 weeks. Then I will stall again for 2-3 weeks then the scale moves again. I definitely have noticed when i eat more Protein rich foods and drink lots of water i get movement in my scale..... The problem is the reason I had the surgery to begin with I LOOOOOVEEE carbs!!! So while i try to have more good days with my eating I don't always stick to the protein first rule!

My recommendation would be to not cut out eating.... I think that might make you stall more since when you reintroduce food your body is probably going to try and keep as much nutrients as it can. I have heard a lot of people have success with the intermittent fasting but i think you have to start with smaller hours so your body doesn't go into starvation mode and try and keep everything put in it. I know MrsLingo on here was staying low carb or Keto and she had looks amazing. A lot of people in my Dr.'s group have also gone low carb and have had success with keeping the stalls short. I know stalls can be frustrating trust me i feel like I've been in stalls more then I've had movement on the scale.

If you get a chance check out Ask Dr. A on Youtube. Dr. Alvarez was my doctor and watching his videos has helped me so much. He answers questions other VSGers send in and you would be surprised how many of us have the exact same issues. His videos give you so much information and they help put me at ease about some of the issues or stalls I hit.

  7. Update!! I did have my Surgery on June 15th and it was a great experience from start to finish. I went alone and I was a little scared, but the fact they pick you up in San Antonio and that take you across and then bring you back seriously makes everything sooo much better. Its also awesome that you spend the whole time at the hospital now that he has the new facility so you have nurses there 24/7. They were super awesome with my pain management and there was always someone there to help when I needed it.

My recovery has been a breeze and I don't know if that's because I have a high pain tolerance or if it was just because Dr. Alvarez did such an awesome job. I had the normal pain after but within a week i was feeling a lot better.... Over all my experience was everything I could hope for from start to finish.

  8. Hey Sleevers!

So tomorrow marks 2 Months.... I'll share my stats below but i'm down 27 pounds.... most of that was lost at the beginning and I wish i could say I wasn't hoping for a little more loss but its also a hell of a lot more then it would be without my sleeve. So I will try and remember not to let it get me down and just continue pushing forward.

I did start going to the Gym last week and it had not been easy but it has gotten better with each visit. The first time i thought i was gonna die from dehydration. So now I make sure I drink as much as i can before I go and that has helped. I feel sore as a hell but I take that as a good thing. I feel like all 27 pounds lost were from my butt so I figured the gym will help with that lol.

The biggest problem I've had is food.... I never know what is gonna sit well. Today I had a salad and now I've felt sick all day! The stuff that seems to stick without issue is the bad stuff.... pizza, chipotle, mashed potatoes.... That right there is the reason I'm losing slow.... I want to eat the healthy stuff but it happens every time I eat and then I gotta run to the RR.... TMI i know but anyone else running into this? If so anyone had any luck with getting better.

@Pete_A I’m at a total 37.5 since surgery June 14th. I had a stall for a few days last week but I upped my Protein intake and took an extra 30 minutes of cardio. I went shopping yesterday and I’m excited to say I’m a size 14w and not 18/20 💃🏾I’m still having problems with my Water intake but it’s getting better.

Oooooo Girl your progress is giving me life!! I'm so glad this is going so well for you! It gives me motivation to keep pushing forward. I knew I would lose slow but sometimes its a little discouraging.... hearing other peoples progress keeps me focused on goals!

  10. Finally saw movement on the scale after about a two week stall.... woo woo.... i did start making sure I eat protien first and then veggies or carbs.... I noticed since doing that I get full faster.... so the amount I eat at a time went down some.... I was eating between 4-5oz before paying attention to the Protein first rule.... now I get about 2oz of protien and I start to feel pretty full I may get an oz of whatever side I have. Scale is down 2 pounds from my 180.00 stall so glad to see it moving again. I’m on my way to the gym to sign up.... Its to hot in my home gym to work out in.... excited for new changes.... happy Friday everyone!

Thanks everyone for your comments!! Really means a lot to me. Im not telling anyone besides my husband. So I have no one to talk to about this stuff. Im concerned with getting hypoglycemia after surgery. I have it now and it seems like it would get much worse if I can’t eat? Another question Ive heard people don’t tolerate chocolate after surgery? Would that mean chocolate Protein Shakes as well? What about working out down the road like running. Will I get dehydration because Easier because I cant drink as much?

If your looking for people to talk to me through this journey then you came to the right place! I told my family and my two bffs but it’s still nice to have a group of people that are planning on going through, currently going through, or have gone through the same stuff. Now with that being said, the more you read people’s post the more you realize everyone’s experience is different. For instance I see a lot of people who had surgery the same month as me have a hard time drinking Water or find it hard to tolerate. I have been super lucky in the sense that the taste of water didn’t change for me. I still love it and I can drink up to 4 big gulps at a time and only have to wait about two minutes in between taking another drink..... so I think on the hydration side it will be easier for someone like me than for someone who has a hard time tolerating water. About the hyperglycemia I would definitely ask your dr. Because that could be a factor in what type of surgery is best for you.

I had a million questions just like you and like a lot of people going through this your not alone. My dr. Has a YouTube channel where he answeres tons of questions for normal concerns that sleevers have. I definitely recommend you check it out I watch so many of his YouTube episodes that by the time I went in for surgery I felt super at ease as to what I may or may not expect. You can look him up on you tube under “Ask Dr. A Show” his name is Dr. Alvarez with Endobariatrics. His Q&A’s are awesome. Hope they help!

    Repeat after me:

I have to have a medical procedure and the doctor says I must be out of work for x time.

To your supervisor - I will bring in the medical note as soon as I have it, but wanted to let you know for scheduling purposes.

To your coworkers - I'm having a medical procedure and I will be out for x time. Thank you so much for your concern and asking about it, but I don't want to discuss my medical issues with anyone other than my doctor.

Assuming you are in the US and you work for an employer of more than 50 people, they cannot force you to say anything else. If co-worker's push, say - did you have sex last night? When they are shocked explain that you feel the same way about your medical issues - they are private and no one else's business. I only had to do that once. It worked.

Lol I love your response! Its true its nobody's business! I hate that people feel because they know you or work with you, you owe them some kind of open door into your personal life. I think your response is perfect.

Im reaching out for someone who has had a starting BMI of 30 or close too that. Yes I have had a higher BMI and also much lower. Am I going to be treated badly at hospital for not being morbidly obese? Going to Mexico in August for the sleeve. With Dr. Ponce at INT. Super nervous and undecided actually. What was it like being on the low end doing this surgery? Happy about it? What can I expect i weight lose? Ive lost 70lbs on my own before. But have always gained it back. This time I’ve gained 40lbs back and still creeping up. I want to get this done because Im so damn tired of it controlling my health and happiness! Would love someone to talk to and hear others opinions.

    Thanks

There are quite a bit of people on here with lower BMI's I started at a 32 and i was so nervous for the same reason. I really though i'm gonna be judged and told i'm just being vain, especially because half of my family felt this was an unnecessary procedure while the other half was supportive.

However from the time i got picked up for my surgery, meeting with the other sleevers, being at the hospital not once was i made to feel like i was wrong for choosing to move forward. Everyone was super nice and although i was told i was small by one of the other sleevers they never made it sound like they were judging. The best part was when My Dr. told me he could tell I was going to be petite a year from now! I laughed and told him petite and me have never gone in the same sentence. I had my surgery for the same reason your having yours. I've been a yoyo dieter my whole life losing 20-40lbs then gaining 30-50lbs back. I just wanted the weight gone and to stay gone.

You got this, don't second guess your self based off of what others will think.... people will always have something to say about your choices. You have to do what is best for you and if you believe its to move forward then that means its the right choice.

I had my surgery in Piedras Negras in MX with Dr. Alvarez

How have you guys broken past a wls stall? It’s goin to be 1 month post op on the 28th and I’m only 17 lbs down.

I've been stalled for a week and gained 2 lbs this week! But in all honestly my eating was horrible this week. I'm down 23 pounds total, 17 lbs down since surgery. I did meal prep this week so I hope that keeps me making better choices and helps move the stall. I still have not made it to a work out today is Monday though so no motivation like a Monday start lol.

How long have you had your stall? My Dr. said two to 3 weeks stalls would be normal in between large amounts of weight coming off as your body catches up with the weight loss so not to worry. He recommended just staying on track with good habits such as protien first, then veggies, then carbs when eating and stopping when full and my body would do the rest. My problem is i'm a bored eater. I eat just to have something to do. So i'm drinking Water to try and replace that habit. Like i said i did not do good last week and I gained 2lbs sooooo i need to get better habits lol.

On that note if anyone else is bored eater and just uses food to fill your time let me know what tips you have done to help curb that habit. Look forward to hearing suggestions. Also if anyone wants to post what your daily food intake looks like that would be helpful.... not sure if i'm eating to much some days i feel like i could eat a house other days i can only eat an egg....

Hey guys! I’m also on a weight loss stale, which I’m partially okay with. I’ve lost 17 lbs, since June 28th.

I’m starting my purée diet tomorrow which is a relief. I’m tired of Jello, popsicles, and broth.

I’m struggling because sorry if it’s TMI but I’m on my period for the second time this month! And goodness, this flow is heavy!!! I even got a yeast infection after taking antibiotics! Something I’ve never experienced. I’m also constipated. It’s a lot to go through for a person in one month.

Like I said, sorry for TMI but just checking in and hoping I’m not the only one going through this.

Hey Lala70, Nope your not the only one I had my cycle twice with in 30 days as well and it was not fun. I upped my bought some vita-melt Fiber pills and have been on them daily so that has helped keep me regular as well as the activa yogurt. I have one at least daily even i'm to afraid to stop taking either because i don't want to go back to the Constipation stage. Now that your on the puree stage maybe you can this to your daily diet see if it helps.

I haven't lost any weight since sunday but i was told to expect stalls while my body catches up with me so I won't worry to much. Going to try and attempt my first workout tomorrow and see if that helps push the scale some.

I see some of you are on a calorie restriction. I wasn't given one by my Dr., is this coming from your Dr. or nutritionist? I need to go see mine i haven't been yet.

Umm. I’m obese. And I’ve struggled with weight my while life. I was at 199 with diet and exercise.

Yea im not 300+ lbs. but my highest weight was 217 lbs. your comment is basically the reason why I’ve only told 3 people in my life what I’ve done.

And after seeing the size of my stomach after it was removed, I did some serious damage to it by bing eating.

Lala70 don’t let these opinions of people that don’t know your life get to you. I was scared the whole time before I met the other people having surgery with me because I just knew they were gonna look at me like “wtf is she doing here” but once I met them I felt better because I thought they don’t know me and I don’t know them so even if they judge me it doesn’t matter because they don’t know my story. I’m a low BMI patient and to some maybe “not that much over weight” but those of us on this board aren’t here for a weight competition we are here for support to help one another. So for future reference to anyone who has an opinion for someone who had surgery that maybe you don’t think fits the normal profile just remember this is huge life change and nobody who hadn’t been on the walk of life with a struggle would choose this lightly..... so maybe we may not be walking the same path as you but it doesn’t make our path any less.

Anyways back to the light side! Excited to have you on the sleeved side Lala70. Hope to stick together through the good results... can’t wait to start working out so I don’t lose my booty feels like all 20 lbs have been straight from my ass... figures huh!

Hi, same here with the surgery on 6/15. I have been feeling better each day. I'm anxious to weigh myself, my post op appt is next Tuesday and hopefully change my diet. Are you still on clear liquid fluids?

Yes, I'm on Clear Liquids until Sunday, then I start the full liquids diet for 2 weeks. I'm so ready to move to full liquids i miss food lol. I've got my count down going... mostly i've been craving avacados. So once i get to the mushy food stage i think i'll be fine. When do you get off clear liquids?

    How exciting that’s next week!

The 125-135 is my goal too! The last time I was 125-130 I was In he high school. So it’s kinda weird imagining myself that small. It’s been such a struggle to maintain 194 right now.

Yes, Next week already, it feels like time passed in a flash, I booked the surgery two months ago. The smallest I can ever remember being was 135 in high school too! I was in dance and it kept me in shape, m weight has slowly crept up through the years and after having my kids i packed on 20lbs each kid that just wouldn't come off. I used to be super active and then i tore all the ligaments in my foot and here came more weight. Now i also struggle just to stay under 200, i've tried everything including Keto and it just comes right back on, with a vengeance every time. I told my family that I don't want to hear there opinions when they think i look weird if i do hit my goal weight. I know its going to be different for me because i haven't seen myself that small ever, even when i was at that weight i thought i was fat... if i knew then what i know now lol. I'm so ready thought to not feel all this weight on my knees and my back. That has been the hardest, not being as active because my foot swells under the weight and stress. Hope we can follow each others progress and be each others motivation!
