  1. I am approved by my insurance. I was just there Friday for my 3 hour appt with the nutritionist and a bunch of doctors. My psych evaluation is June 4th. I’m in my 5th month so it’s a little a frustrating that it takes so long. I’m approved. Then a month between psych eval. Then another month til meeting the surgeon to give me a date a month later. I’m like ugh. It’s so much waiting [emoji20] it’s also a little annoying when someone says “your not fat enough” i weight 215. But i am only 5 feet tall. So I’m 100 pounds over weight. I know I’m over weight when i debate leaving my house because i don’t want to see anyone i know. I know my body best and i know I’m so unhappy.

  2. I was like that about my coffee! Lol.

I’m only 10 days post op but I really don’t miss drinking coffee. Slowly gave it up during my pre op diet because I HAD to. Since then, I don’t even crave it. I’m allowed to drink Decaf but I don’t see the sense in it [emoji23]

I never thought I’d be that person. Giving up coffee was my BIGGEST fear. I would drink at least 3 cups a day! But here I am, post op and doing just fine with out it!

I am not a coffee drinker at all! Yuck- so that is also a problem haha!

  3. NO SURGERY YET. I have been a coke drinker my whole life! So it’s hard, but i can do diet. It’s not a problem ( i don’t like Diet Coke but i can do Diet Pepsi! Haha) it’s going to be the most hard for me to not be able to drink it after surgery because of the carbonation how long after surgery was anyone able to drink carbonation? When my mom had gastric bypass she couldn’t drink Diet Pepsi for 3 years. I will dieeeee

  4. Hello! I just wanted to pop in with a few updates. My husband is doing very well! They had him up and walking today, and he managed to do a full lap around the floor (a total of about 150ft) 3 times, which is apparently a big deal. In addition, they were able to take all drainage tubes out so he is feeling MUCH better. There is a possibility he may even get to come home on Friday! He is already getting up from the bed/chair with minimal assistance, and using the rest room on his own. It truly is a wonder how far we have come in medical field.
My mom has decided to basically move in next week and the week after to help. I have to work next week to train my coverage for my own surgery, which at this point I am proceeding with. If he struggles this weekend, I will definitely push it out.
Now for the not so great news... living off hospital food has caused me to gain 4lbs. They had very little gluten free options (unless I wanted wilted salad) and so in addition to the weight gain I have stomach pain too. Joy. Thankfully I have at most 2 days left, then I am putting myself on a liquid diet next week in hopes of losing those 4lbs I just put on [emoji20]
Once again, I wish to thank you all for your kindness and support. It has been an immense help to me by keeping me distracted during this chaotic time.
    Kind regards,
    Kay

I have a lot of experience in hospital stays! 2 brain surgeries and 2 c sections! You have just salad to choose from. Ugh no gluten free options. Ughhh sorry your going through all this! Best wishes!

  5. It went well, it was short and sweet. She asked me about the support I have around me, what habits I plan on changing to be successful and things like that. It felt like it was more for her benefit than mine, but I suppose that is what an evaluation is. I'm more excited for my dietitian appointment as I think that will be very informative.

My mom had gastric bypass 13 years ago and she has had a very successful story. It’s not an easy fix that’s for sure. She still struggles. But she started at 309 and her lowest weight was 151. She’s gained and lost 50 back and forth a lot. Right now she’s at 178. People ask if it was worth it and she said if she could change anything she would have done it earlier!
