  1. Thanks Meryl! Glad to see there are a good number of us in the upcoming weeks so we will have support for each other. Good luck!
  2. @@lizzie828 we have the same surgery date and surgery (band to bypass)-wishing you good luck @foodfighter-how are you doing?
  3. I like EAS Myoplex Original build muscle chocolate fudge-17oz 42g of protein and only 1g sugar. I found a 4 pack for $10.25 at Target.
  4. Maybe try some meditation before bed to ward off the nightmares. You are so close! The waiting for the surgery date was the hardest part for me (so far). Good luck!
  5. Good luck! I am band to bypass too with surgery on the 10th-can't wait!
  6. I have flu stones complete chewables-my nutritionist recommended them-not bad and only about $7
  7. Not me, I stopped my wine (my vice) last week, I am off all coffee and am trying to lose a few pounds before my surgery on the 10th. I feel like I could eat a horse, but I am fighting that feeling. I went and bought all my sugar free stuff and a few more protein drinks today. I do not have a pre-op diet but am trying to cut back in hopes it helps me post surgery. Good luck!
  8. Congrats! I got my date today too March 10th! I am sharing in your joy!
  9. Thank you! How have your first four months been?
  10. I had the band put in in 2008 and I just received my date for bypass next Tuesday. My first surgeon only did bands and my current surgeon only did bypass (at that time). Today, my original surgeon is also doing sleeves and my new surgeon is doing sleeves and bypass. I agree with the others, do research. In 2008 I was afraid of bypass but I think that was because I did not do research. My band slipped 5 times and I rarely ever felt the "full" sensation when eating. I am 48 and my joints really hurt-I need a tool that will hold me accountable and I think the bypass is it. I don't have any other comorbidities but I am afraid I will if I don't get myself together soon. Being over weight sucks but it can be fixed with the right attitude and support team. Good luck in whichever choice you make.
  11. Great update, thanks for sharing! Just received my date and I am hoping to be able to post a similar result soon!
  12. Just received my surgery date-the wait was the hardest part! Anyone else have the same date?
  13. I just completed my 10 day regimen of antibiotics for h-pylori. I lost 10lbs from all the diarrhea the meds gave me ???? but glad to get it taken care of before surgery. I start my 3 weeks of mandatory classes tomorrow and then I will get a surgery date-hopefully the last week of Feb.
  14. Thanks everyone, I don't have a date for surgery yet so I am glad my surgeon tested for it early. So far okay on meds -except for the awful taste in my mouth!
  15. Through pre surgery work up found out I have this. Started 10 day regime of antibiotics. Did this affect anyone? I was told it is very common, many have it and never know it but they always check prior to surgery. I just hope these meds don't make me sick-side affects sound awful!
  16. Thanks for your insight, sounds like your journey is going good. 17# down is great! I am nervous, but like you I wish I had done the RNY 6 years ago -all the data I am reading does show great long term results. I don't have a date yet-still finishing the pre appointments but I know it will be here before I know it. I look forward to seeing how you continue on. Thanks for sharing.
  17. Great story thanks for sharing. I will be a band to RNY soon too!
  18. Fora-similar here but I went thru a few slips DNS complete unfills. My first surgeon was very conservative (he only did bands at the time). My insurance changed and I have a new surgeon and he would have been fixing the slip by now. I have decided time for RNY for me.
  19. Oompa-how are you doing? Is the recovery much different than the band?
  20. Thanks Dmoon and Golflady! I agree that having gone through most of this previously I do know a lot, but still so much to learn. I have a meeting with the NP on Friday, medical clearance the week after, another nutritionist apt at the end of the month and then start my 3 sessions of "class". I was told the last week of February will probably be the date for surgery, but of course anything could change that. Golflady, how are you doing? Would love to hear any insight you can provide.
  21. Hi Everyone, I have been away for a few years and now I am back. I had lap band 7/8/08, lost about 40#s but have had 5 slips so not it is time to take it out. I have been as patient as I can be, tried to stay positive and not give up on the band, but I realize it was not right for me. Went to see surgeon about revision to RNY, have started the pre-work up and hope to have everything completed for surgery in Feb 2015. Fingers crossed that this will work, I am getting too old and my body can't keep up with all this extra weight. I hope to learn lots from those of you that have the experience.
