Have you had many previous abdominal surgeries? If there is scar tissue in your stomach, your pain could be worse. I recovered very fast and had little pain, my wife on the other hand was in a great deal of pain. However, she had a lot of scar tissue from c-sections and other procedures.
I had liposuction a few years ago but that’s it....but no deep abdominal surgeries.

I hate to say this but this is your life, not your mothers.
Many people change their ideas and feelings on weight loss when they see these people succeed.
Try not to cry but use her dislike as motivation and show her that you got this. Stay strong
I guess I’ve kinda always sought her approval...but now that I’m older I realize how damaging this has been to me. I’m gonna get the sleeve, even if I have to keep it a secret from her for some time because like you said it’s my life to live!

80% of my family is like this. A lot of it stems from misinformation and ignorance. At the end of the day, you HAVE to do what's best for you!
My surgeon has a family/friends day if people want to be educated on the process. It can be helpful.
My mom came with me to the seminar and my consult with the doctor....let’s just say...it didn’t help AT ALL, she’s pretty much stuck in her ways. I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place because I cannot imagine having a procedure like this and not informing her. I mean I would eventually tell her post op....Lucky for me she lives in California and I live in Maryland so she wouldn’t know...it’s just doing it secretly kills me

So I’m will probably have the sleeve sometime in June, every time I’ve talked with my mother about it she’s extremely negative and discouraging...dictating to me I shouldn’t do it and usually leaves me in tears....I’ve decided that at 30yrs old, I will have this procedure without her approval because I cannot continue to allow her to dictate how I should I should live my life does anyone here have parents or husbands ahl are like this? so I guess the only people I’m telling is my two best friends

I’m gonna use up my leave which is just two weeks, my work provides short term disability which is 60% of your pay, so I’ll take that as well for another 2 weeks. I had a hernia repair several years ago and the recovery was rough so I’m anticipating this to be the same, back then I took a full month off and even that really wasn’t enough

All depends on how fast you recover and the amount of fortitude you have. I had surgery on Monday and I was mowing my lawn on the weekend. The physician and staff highly recommended to get up and moving although you will not have an ounce of willingness to so and from my experience, this was the best advice given because I did push through it and the more I moved around (Walking) each day became better. Additionally, my doctor wanted me to walk at least 45 mins a day prior to surgery to maximize my strength prior to surgery, and I was back to those walks a week later. Did your doctor give you similar advice prior to surgery?
My surgeon gave pretty similar advice....but he recommends 3 weeks to a month off and I can onl truly afford to take 2...
