  1. I like the hair down like that and the color is good. Overall, you look mahhhhvelous!!
  2. This morning was 214.6 so not as bad as expected, it truly never makes sense.
  3. The scale is crazy and not to be trusted. True story: yesterday morning I weighed as I do every morning. Wake up, pee and get on the scale buck nekkid. We have always slept nekkid so that is the best time for me. 218. So I go about my business yesterday (groceries, finishing tree and decorations, walk, out to hear our friends band) and today 215 and down to 214 after a major💩 I did dance A LOT last night ( Y.M.C.A. anyone) and some cardio 😍 when we got home but not enough to lose 4 #. Tomorrow I predict 215.8 but we shall see.

Sophomoreville - A Home For The the Tweeners

I guess I qualify for this group since I am 7 months post op as of last Sunday. Overall, it has been pretty easy and I am ecstatic about the results to this point. I still have a lot of restriction and do not get super hungry and get satisfied very easily. Biggest challenges for me are some occasional snacking and of course, alcohol. I am fully aware that I probably would have lost a bit more by now if I did not drink at all but I am just unwilling to do that. It is what it is... Hair loss has been ongoing but no one notices other than me and my hairdresser. I have very thick, naturally wavy hair and I never use heat on it now. When it was longer I used hot rollers every day but now I just apply product and let it dry naturally and use a pick to fluff it out when it is dry. I always get in at least 80 ounces of water in addition to 32 ounces of regular coffee and about 6 ounces of PP shake per day. Since I am low carb it is essential to stay hydrated since ketosis also dehydrates you and I do not feel right if I do not drink enough water. I never drink sodas because I don't like them. I tried prosecco once on Thanksgiving and it was bad, the carbonation was painful and I was burping loudly for 2 hours. No carbonation for me. I do use Mio drops occasionally for variety, the berry pomegranate one is my favorite and it is especially good in hot water. We walk 1.75 at least 5 days a week unless it is raining and then I do about 45 minutes on the elliptical. I need to start more weight training and there is no reason since I have the bench and free weights right here. Really want to start doing yoga once I lose a little more.

    Bad breath anyone.

Ketosis (body burning fat) causes a very distinct bad breath that smells a little fruity (but not in a good way). My husband always complains about it. I do brush at least 3 times a day and make sure to drink lots of water because ketosis also dehydrates you. If you urine is darker than pale straw you need more water. The preop and immediate post op diets (intentionally) cause ketosis because you are not eating enough carbs to provide fuel to the body and therefore the body uses stored fat.

    Hours and Hours of Entertainment!

You are more than welcome my pretty and it is truly life changing entertaining. Sometimes it just fits. I am always shocked when I figure out something new to me on the computer since I am quite computer impaired about most things. Have to get daddy my husband to come help me most times....🤩

    AMAW/CAMAW - Let's do this thang!

Just last night I was reading my (1992) Atkins book on Induction and I am planning to do it right after the holidays. I have never heard of the AMAW or CAMAW but it sounds promising. On induction, you are allowed 20 net grams of carbs (vegetables only) and of course protein and fat...I will have to look on MFP at my old food logs to see how much of each I was eating. I hope this will kickstart my losing again since I have been a bit stalled for the last several weeks. With all the parties/concerts/events we are going to and having our anniversary in 2 weeks it would be impossible unlikely for me to stick with it but I will definitely follow this thread and cheer on the participants.
  8. You are quite welcome!! I would laugh uncontrollably if husband sent me a dp...I always complain during sport physical season that I am so tired of looking at and touching adolescent boy's d's that I am gonna scream. He does have a naked picture of me wearing a hat in a hotel room in Mexico that he keeps on his desk---I just have to remember to put it away if we have guests since it is also our guest room. How do random people get your phone number to send dps anyway?
  9. I had to take omeprazole for 3 months after surgery and I personally was fine with it but stopped it after my 3 month post op appointment. Since then I have had a few episodes of mild reflux symptoms which responded just fine to a couple of chewable Tums. A couple of times I felt like there was an air bubble in my sleeve and took a couple of Gas-X which seems to help. I am with you, the less drugs the better... Good luck!!
  10. At three days post op I would focus on drinking the broth a little at a time every 10 minutes or so and back off on the protein for a few days until you are feeling better. I only had a little nausea and no vomiting but I was given a dose of long acting antinausea medication (Emend) right before surgery and came home with sublingual nausea tablets (Zofran) which I only used twice. It is most important that you are able to get in fluid so if the broth is working that should help. Good luck!!
  11. Me too. I cancelled my first wedding (to an abusive a*****e) and started dating my husband about 2 weeks later. Our first date was in August and by November we moved from Odessa to Dallas and lived together for about a year before we got married. December 15 is 34 years for us. When it is right I do think you know it.

I feel like I blew it

I am 6 months out and pretty much ate what you did minus the mac and cheese. Turkey breast, cornbread dressing and sauteed brussels sprouts. Before we ate I shared a bottle of prosecco with my husband--my first experience with a carbonated beverage and I will not be doing that again. Burping like a truck driver😨 Made a sugar free, gluten free cheesecake and had a small piece with a few berries and sugar free whipped cream. Drank a couple of tequilas during the Cowboys game (wooo hoooo!!) I think what I ate and drank was realistic for me and I do not feel bad about it. Weight was up 0.8 # this morning but I am fine with that. Plan for today is lots of water and eating on plan. There are some leftovers we will have for dinner for the next couple of nights. Please forgive yourself, do not feel bad and keep moving forward.

    Let's talk about panties!

I have some from Warners called "No Wedgie" that I have worn for several years now. They are getting a little big now so plan to get some new ones. I bought them at Kohls because that is always the best price (when they send coupons and Kohl's cash). This ones are great because they do not ride up even with jeans. With dress pants, I wear some bike short type ones that are not tight at all, they are from Maidenform. Kohls has about a million pair of panties so that would be a good place to try on a variety.
  14. I think it is also dependent on age....I have dropped about 3-4 sizes in jeans but I am losing much more off my butt, thighs and hips than the stomach area. I know this because I have detailed measurements from 10 years ago when I did Atkins and at the same weight my measurements are several inches different (more in the stomach and less in other places) even though I am exercising much more consistently now. Friends my age (60) who are not overweight also have noted more weight in the "middle" which I think is probably connected to estrogen levels.

    No Pain Medications

I took tylenol with codeine a few times in the hospital and when I got home. Had an allergic reaction (hives) to it on post op day #2 and poured it down the drain. Did not ask for or need any alternative pain medication at that point. When I went for my 6 month post op last week my surgeon told me that they are starting to do the sleeve as an outpatient procedure (home the same day) and only using tylenol for pain based on some current research. Pain tolerance is variable from person to person and I would prefer not to take it. Additionally, my friend had bladder cancer surgery (11 hours on the table) a few months back at a well known cancer hospital in Houston and she received IV acetaminophen for pain and it seemed to work fine for her. Doctor did not want her to have anything else due to the long anesthesia and risk of bowel obstruction--her daughter (an RN) and I both asked them about this and could not believe that was all she was getting after some major surgery.

    3 mo Progress Pic!

    Excellent progress!!
  17. I had my normal coloring yesterday to cover the gray--I have lost quite a bit of hair but the color actually makes it look thicker and better IMHO. My hairdresser said there is not any reason to do anything different due to TE.
  18. Speaking only for myself, the only thing 1 small Reese cup would do is make me want MORE and since there are quite a few in the bag I think this is a recipe for disaster at any stage of this process. I just can not keep anything like that around because I know myself --I would DREAM about that bag in the pantry and likely get up one or more times every night to have additional pieces. That brief "joy and satisfaction" would result in my feeling like a loser and a failure. I have had a very small amount of candy a few times in the last 6 months only when we were away from home....a tiny bite of my husband's fudge from the fudge store on vacation or a couple of his peanut M&Ms on a road trip stop. I did experiment with a few Quest and ONE bars but these for me are no different than candy and they can not be available to me on a daily basis. If I could control my intake of things like this I probably would not have needed WLS. If I am really jonesing for something sweet, I make a cup of coffee with some Premier Protein Caramel shake and a shot of sugar free DaVinci syrup. Sip this slowly and it does satisfy me by the time I finish with it. I sometimes go in my bedroom and try on clothes that fit that used to be way too small while I drink it. It works for me.
  19. RN since 1980 and NP since 1990 but I only have done pediatrics for that whole time and yes, I was nervous about the procedure. I researched my surgeon a lot before I went to see him and knew that he and the hospital he is affiliated with both have great reputations. I tried to stay really calm on the morning before surgery and think positive thoughts. Post op days 1-4 were a little more painful and intense then I was prepared for but no real problems. I did have an allergic reaction to tylenol with codeine on day 4 and to today have not needed pain medication at all I have no regrets at this point, it has all been pretty easy since the immediate post op period. Good luck!!
  20. I take the same vitamins and my PA told me at my two week check up that it was okay to just swallow them. Opening them and putting in a bite of yogurt was NASTY so I feel your pain.
  21. I mostly shop at stores like Ross Dress for Less, Marshalls, TJMaxx, and Steinmart. I also really like Dillards which is a chain but I do not know if they are in Minnesota. Chicos and Soma are pretty pricey for what the clothes are but I buy stuff on sale there, plus Soma has fantastic bras. If you know what size/style/brand of something fits you you can also find great deals on eBay. Enjoy!!

Leaving My Dogs While on Vacation

Yes, we take motorcycle trips all over. Have ridden cross country twice (Texas to Wisconsin and Texas to Colorado/Wyoming) and also quite a few shorter weekend trips.

    Relationship changes?

All of my relationships have either improved (because I feel better physically and mentally) or stayed the same. I love my life and the people in it!!

    It's SAD

I have a friend in Vermont with this and she uses one of those lights every morning (calls it her Happy Light) and it has really helped her.
  25. My husband is a normal weight with healthy lungs and has sleep apnea. Used CPAP machine for years but now has a custom made appliance that fits over his teeth and then locks together (they look about like teeth bleaching trays) which is SO MUCH BETTER for him. He had a follow up sleep study recently that showed massive improvement. He never snores at all anymore.
