    July Sleeve

July 31st. Today I hit the 40# lost. I feel like I'm not losing fast enough but at least I'm losing! I would probably lose faster if I would get up and exercise more. I'm really working to get there with exercising on a more regular basis. I'm happy with the foods I can eat and haven't had any issues with food so far. I eat mostly protein and a few veggies and I'm okay with that and so is my surgeon.

    Favorite restaurant meals post WLS?

I've gone out for sushi (light or no rice) and usually let my husband finish off the roll I can't eat. We've split fajitas too. We went out for gyros and I just got the meat.

    Munchies

I have found myself snacking on Harvert Snaps. After this bag is gone, I am not planning on buying them again for a while. I weigh them out and find that I'm snacking on them too often. I'm glad you posted this so I can figure out some better snacks.

Please give me your meal plan

While everyone is different, you should go by what your team has given you for what to eat and how much. Here is my typical day. Breakfast: Premier Protein Shake Lunch: Pan Seared Shrimp w/ cajun seasoning 3 oz Snack: Harvest Snaps (I need to quit these because I end up eating too many) Dinner: Varies - usually something my my recipe list for example Greek Turkey Burger, Salmon, Steak, panned seared tilapia, chicken (cooked in a variety of ways NOT fried) - most meat is 3-4 oz. I will often have a tiny little spinach salad topped with 1 sliced strawberry, 1 T of blue cheese, and 1 t goddess dressing or a small serving of sauteed onions w/ squash or zucchini. Sometimes, I will have some of my dinner and then save some of a snack. Most days I'm getting anywhere from 70-90 g of protein. There have been a few days where I was 60-70 and a few days where I was over 90. I would be happy to share my recipe document with you if you would like just drop me a message. If I'm out, it depends on where I go, but if it's fast food, whatever I order would most likely be served protein style (no bun). I've gone out for sushi and order with light or no rice, gyros and just had the meat, and fajitas.

    Constant Hunger Pain

Congratulations on your weight loss! I wonder about this too. I notice that I have feelings of hunger, kind of like my stomach growling but not exactly. This happens sometimes when I drink water and other times after I eat. I wonder if it is just my stomach doing its thing but it sure feels like hunger. I don't meet with my NUT until the end on the month.
  6. @Megan Sadler I'm doing very low carb and low fat too. My doc said to NOT do actual Keto b/c it's high fat. I'm just focusing on protein. I eat a lot of shrimp. Alot of the keto recipes can be converted to low or mid fat. I find that protein is for the most part keeping me satisfied. Depending on the time of month, I've gotten kind of snacky a few time. I need to turn that off! I have been collecting recipes here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1LoPqBWnVn3ZejFugIvfmSsTIUmi1iBNk6zo4gbCxUFc/edit?usp=sharing I think that is the link to let anyone have access to the file.
  7. yay!! I am trying to get off my butt too. I have been doing about 3 days per week but I need to do more and go longer. Which hiit class did you do? I need to switch my workouts up more I think. I've been doing Slim in 6 (you can find it free on you tube too). I can't get though the whole thing but I will do some and then skip to the next segment and do some of that and skip ahead.

    Rash

It might be yeast - try monastat or athlete's foot cream/spray or jock itch (it's all fungal infections)
  9. Pre surgery, we used to go out to eat multiple times each week. Las Vegas is full of so much good food. Now that I can eat solid food again, just not much of it, I'm trying to figure out how we can still enjoy dinners out on the town and still eat within my calorie range. So far, we've had pretty good luck with sushi. I usually get sushimi and I only eat a little of it. I'm thinking Mexican might be okay if I order fajitas. Steakhouses, I could share steak or have leftovers. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
  10. First place I loose weight is my boobs! Then, my eyelashes and fingers LOL
  11. I take mine right after I eat lunch. If I forget it at lunch, then I take it right after I eat supper. That's the only way I can take them without getting nauseous. I know we are supposed to wait to drink but I just take them with one good drink of water. My NUT and surgeon both said that was fine.

    Super tired after work outs

I was sleeved on 7/31 and I'm happy with my weight loss. My calorie range is 500-700 and I'm getting 64+oz of water per day plus 11 oz of protein shake 30 g of protein (breakfast). I'm averaging 70-90 g of protein daily. I tolerate all foods. I have tried exercising and have been doing videos. Like you, I can not get close to a full hour workout and my max has been 35-40 min but most days I end up stopping around 20 - 25. I'm not sure what to do either but just wanted you to know that you aren't alone.
  13. I take some spinach in a tiny ramekin and slice a strawberry on top, add a teaspoon of blue cheese, and top with a teaspoon of goddess dressing. It is sooo good. Oh, another dish I did that was veggie based is puttanesca with chicken sausage and instead of pasta, I made zoodles. I am liking my zoodle maker!
  14. I'm glad to see you doing well! I have been doing some exercise but not nearly what I know I need to do. I guess some is better than none. I hit my weight loss low this morning! I'm down 37 lbs since my start weight and 30 since surgery. I totally understand the well rounded meals thing. I am getting in my protein and trying to fit in veggies and a strawberry every once in a while. My surgeon actually told me that she is fine with me eating pretty much nothing but protein as long as I'm taking my vitamins. She said that as I get closer to my goal weight and increase calories, then it will be easier (and expected) to move to a more balanced diet.

Not doing great in pre-op diet

TBH, everyone has a different preop diet. Mine was 2 weeks with shakes for breakfast and lunch. Dinner was 4-5 oz of lean mean with 1-2 cups of low starch veggies. No corn, peas, or potatoes. No dressings, sauces, etc. No snacking, no caffeine, no carbonated bevs. Every surgeon is different and there are some that don't require less time that 2 weeks. I followed my preop diet closely with only a couple of minor (not crazy) slip ups.

    Weight loss HALT

Ah yes, the dreaded 3 week stall. It's very common and very discouraging. Stick with the program and you will get over this hump.
  17. Just curious, sometimes when I'm not hungry and I'm focusing on drinking my water, I'll take a drink and then it's like when it hits my stomach, it triggers hunger (or something). Am I crazy? Does anyone else ever have this sensation when they drink water? What is that? I try to tell myself that it is NOT hunger, but my brain says otherwise. Why would I even have head hunger (or real hunger) from drinking water.

    Swelling?

Yes, I was swollen for around 2 weeks or a bit longer.
  19. photogirl70

    Advil?

It's my understanding that we should avoid Advil b/c it is an NSAID. I would double check with your surgeon.
  20. My doctor was not a part of my decision making. I wasn't required to have a referral. I did tell my doctor after the fact. I did not have to wait 6 months either b/c I had a hernia repair.
  21. Have you considered doing WLS in Vegas. The place where I had mine done has a program for people coming in from out of town. https://blossombariatrics.com/fasttrack/ The don't require a referral. It might not hurt to call them for a consultation. It might be easier than going to Tijuana.
  22. I'm sorry he's not being more supportive. I'm glad that he is "supporting" you getting the surgery. While it would be easier if he changed his eating habit along with you, it sounds like he's not down for that. I know it's tough but keep on focus with your health and your eating. I'm almost 8 weeks post op and this weekend, I had to deal with my daughter making homemade bread and my husband had me go though the drive thu to get him an ice cream cone. It's agonizing at time but I know it will be worth it in the long run.

    Going out to eat

This is great advice. And, for me, eating out is part of what we do. Where we go and how much and what I eat is a whole new ballgame now. I have been consistently weighing everything at home and logging all my food including entering recipes so I will know the calories and macros. It's for sure harder when you go out but I can at least get close. Bottom line is I can't each much in a sitting regardless of being out at a restaurant or at home. I'm fine with a to go box
  24. My first stall came around day 15 post op and lasted 10 days. I was devastated! This week, I'm 7 weeks and 2 days post op now and I have been gaining and losing the same 2 lbs for the past week. Today, I was down an additional lb so now, I'm at my post surgery low! 34 lbs since I started and 27 from my surgery weight. From surgery, that's an average of 3.8 lbs per week. I'll admit, I'm a scale slave. I try not to get upset when I see my weight go up and down. Weight loss is not liner and I have to keep telling myself that. I know that if I keep with the program, then I will continue to loose weight. It also helps me continue to be more and more motivated with the exercise component which I've not been so great with.

    How do you Move it?

Leslie Sansone is NOT high intensity at all. It's a great program for someone that just wants to move. IMHO it get boring after a while and I want something more challenging. (Even though I don't have the energy to get though a whole program LOL). Slim in 6 will have some moves that she will show you a modified version of the move so I like that. I really like the HIIT programs. I just search various videos and some have modified moved and others don't. The thing about HIIT is that it's doesn't get boring and you can challenge yourself as you build stamina to get more reps in. My surgeon has cleared me for core work, abs, etc and said I could get as intense as my body would allow.
