tressamae reacted to goldenbarbie in One year post op in 2 days..... wow (new pics for y'all !!)
I can't believe it, almost a year ago I was 316 pounds. I was nervous, and eating every horrible and unhealthy meal I thought I would never be able to eat again because I knew I was about to change my life on December 14, 2016.
I was sleeved on 12/14/16 and it was truly one of the best life decisions I ever made. It was not easy, from being in and out of the ER due to dehydration in my early stage.. barely being able to eat anything besides liquids/apple sauce for 2 months.. to now being able to eat honestly anything, just with Portion Control. I'm well known on social media, and people always ask me what do I eat, what should they eat, did I get additional surgery etc.. even on here as I try to respond to all messages I tell everyone the same thing: My journey will NOT be yours. We are all different, we are individuals and our bodies are all different. My experience was deff not easy but yes I love my results. If you are questioning getting sleeved, do your research and then say YES. I was so nervous about getting sleeved, I researched for months before I started the process. I'm so glad I turned my life around. I am literally crying as I type this because I am so happy. food no longer controls my life, I do. The best feeling is self love and happiness... I was always confident but now I truly feel happy. 100%. And my journey is not even over yet, it just began.
I will post pics because the few friends I have on here always ask lol! Love you guys. And I love all my sleevers. ️

tressamae reacted to mitchjoann132010 in Powerade Zero
So I am 4 days into my 2 week liquid diet and my surgery is scheduled for April 25th. I have always been an avid Water lover. But lately due to not being able to eat I am just craving something to taste. I have my sugar free popsicles and Jello. My low sodium chicken/beef broth but it has just not been cutting it for me. I also have crystal light and mio but they have too much of an artificial taste for my liking. My liquid diet has to be Clear Pre-Op. On the list my nutritionist said that Powerade Zero is okay. I am in love. It satisfies my tastebuds but it also helps me get my liquid in which fills me up. It has electrolytes and B Vitamins and this paired with my premier 30gram Protein Shakes, multi Vitamin, and Calcium vitamin I am set for the day. I'm getting all my Protein and my Fluid (I also drink water, and have Decaf coffee mixed with a shake).
Has anybody else gotten hooked on this stuff and does it still taste as good to you after surgery? I work in the health care field and I see how detrimental dehydration can be so that is the one thing that terrifies me and I was hoping this might help if I cannot get water down so easily after surgery. I drink it at room temperature as well.

tressamae reacted to logicwand in Hiatal hernia and sleeve surgery
The nurse at my consultation told me that in her 2 years of working there, she's only seen 4 patients that did NOT have a hiatal hernia. She said most obese people have them and don't know it. I was sure I didn't because I had a low BMI (34). But you know what? I had one too. For me, it drastically lowered the cost of my sleeve surgery. Because my insurance didn't cover WLS, I imagine that a hiatal hernia would be covered and it lowered my out of pocket cost for the sleeve since being performed at the same time. I really didn't ask questions because I was relieved I didn't have to sell my right leg to get surgery. Haha. My doctor said he performs sleeve gastrectomies with hiatal hernia repairs all the time.
