  1. Thank you all for the feed back. I've compared my list of vitamins with what was suggested and the only thing missing is the calcium citrate. Actually with the D and B vitamins I'm actually prescribed a higher dosage than what was recommended. Really the only reason I think Bariatric Advantage was recommended is because he sells them in his office and told me to purchase them from him. Pocket change I'm sure but still. I'm sure they are great and that's why he said those but times aren't easy and they aren't cheap. I did look into the points system but when I went to turn them in they only applied to gift cards with a purchase. Unless I'm reading it wrong? Also Flintsones sound like a wonderful throw back to my childhood. Thank you and hope to hear many more suggestions.
  2. @JulesUp Welcome and best of luck on your surgery. I've been here only a short period of time but have learned tons and have found a wonderful community of extremely helpful people. By the way my tentative date is the 12th pending approval from insurance.
  3. So my surgeon recommended (said I had to) I buy "Bariatric Advantage" Calcium Citrate Chewy's 500mg & Chewable Advanced Multi EA. From what I gather they are just multi vitamins and iron pills. Is there any reason I need to get these other than they are chewable. I take multi's already and one of the last visits I had with him he said all my levels looked good. I'd rather not spend the $ if I can get past it. Is there another alternative? Cheaper maybe? What do you all take?
  4. Thank you @KimTriesRNY and @Losingit2018 for the advice. I do have bands I could steal from my wife and use. Also the pool is an excellent idea. Guess I'll be spending more time with my parents.
  5. Great job bud!!!! 100 lbs in 4 months. If I can be so lucky......
  6. Congrats!!! Wishing you a smooth surgery and a speedy recovery.
  7. You will absolutely find what you are looking for and more here. Very compassionate and extremely helpful folks here. Just don't let them little piggies get cold. From all the advice and positive stories l have read here I am sure you will be successful and happy with sticking with it. Cheers to a better future for all of us!!!!
  8. So obviously I have a bad back. Ive been out of work for 3 plus years because of it. I am/was a flooring contractor and because of all the heavy lifting and tearing up of old floors etc. it took a toll on my back. Not to mention as I got older the weight just packed on and as my back slowed me down the weight gain sped up. Along with a bad back and hopefully because of my weight I suffer from sciatica on both legs from hip to knees. I have newly acquired pain ( last year or so) in my hips knees and ankles. I can't walk more than a few feet without having major pain, standing up without leaning or holding the captian morgan pose is nearly impossible. I have weights and a stationary bike but have only used the bike a few times due to my knees and ankles being in pain. I have a strong feeling I could work through that pain if I could just get motivated. Regardless if you are a fellow back pain sufferer or not what can any of you recommend I do. I know there are tons of stretches for the back pain/sciatica but again lack the motivation. I know fitness plays a major roll in recovery and maintenance and I just don't want my back to hold me back. I am really hoping after surgery the pain will decrease to a point that I can at least do something. Thanx in advance for any advice!!!!
  9. Just hit my 90 day mark for both my journey and the mandatory time period insurance requires. Went in to see my surgeon initially to schedule a naval hernia repair and he recommended WLS to decrease future issues with hernias. I had kind of thought about it prior but never seriously. Anyway, I have a tentative date of July 12 pending insurance approval. Start my 2 week pre op diet on the 28th of this month. Although it really hasn't been a long time period it seems it's been waaaayyyy longer. Best of luck to all of you and speedy recoveries all around.
  10. Glad you finally got an answer. Sucks it had to happen so many times before it was figured out. Were you checked pre-op for gallstones? Or did it develop post surgery? Hope you have a speedy recovery from this new surgery and best wishes. Hopefully no mas problemas.!!!
  11. Great job. Congrats!!! Such a short amount of time and you've made great progress, good for you.
  12. @AshAsh1 Great links, Thank You for those. The cookery one looks like it has tons of info and recipes.
  13. That's fantastic, congrats!!! The successes of others and positivity of everyone here help me so much on my own journey. Thank you and everyone else here!!! Best of luck in all you do.
  14. Holy Shi*T.. I just counted the days and realized I have 9 days until I have to start mine and my heart dropped. I don't think I'm worried about the diet itself but the fact that It's that much closer to surgery day. Best of luck to you that are doing the diet now. Stay strong!!!!
  15. Hope all goes well and you have a speedy easy recovery!!!
  16. Just had a pre-op class last week that was 2hrs long during which we had a written quiz and then discussed the answers. The longest thing I've done so far is the wait for Endoscopy. Havn't heard anything about 2hr test though. Good luck though.
  17. Not there yet but my surgeon said if your meds are the size of the bed of you pinky nail you can swallow them. If they are larger some can be cut. If that is no good than see you pcp and figure out what you can do. I wouldn't completely cut them out.
  18. This is something I never thought about. Always just had that mindset that I would look like my old self at that weight. I've always been told I look way younger than I am. Or you look to young to have kids that age. I'll be 45 next month and my oldest is 23. My grays make me look older but never thought about the stretched skin making me look younger. Damn, Does this mean I finally have to grow up and act my age? Hell no, I've always said in my mind I'm 15 so maybe now I'll adjust to hmmm say 18 to 21. Yeah that'll work.
  19. This Place!!! This Place Right Here!!!!! Post your fears and questions and there will be an answer. Someone here has been through it. If you have the time look through the older posts and you will find anything you are looking for. I have learned more here from others experiences than from my own surgeon or nutritionist. They gave me all the info but not the detail you get from all the folks here. I havn't had to post many questions that I had because I always find a post about it with more information than I could have thought there would be. Stay up and best of luck to you.
  20. Potential date of July 12th. My 90 day pre op period is Thursday this week and my case gets submitted for approval. Hopefully all goes well and the date stays the same or maybe sooner?
  21. Congrats on getting to "the" day. Best of luck on a speedy recovery!!!
  22. I asked both of my sons it they would come in and video tape it. Sadly both said no. Would be proof though.
  23. Awesome brother, congrats and have FUN!!!!!
  24. Potential date for me is 7/12. Hopefully all goes smoothly, approval goes through and they stick with that date. I think I just had my last pre-appoval procedure done today, ultrasound for liver and gallstones. Worried about the liver as I am/was a heavy drinker. But if I get bad news from that at least I have a huge party to look forward to. I have pre-op class this friday. Then 1 last follow up with surgeon and 1 with NUT. Hope all goes as planned for everyone!!!
  25. I love these success stories, Congrats!!!! I only hope to do as well in my journey.
