  1. So I was wondering what other sites do all of you visit? Related to WLS of course.... My nutritionist recommended http://shsnutrition.com/ Which has a nice break down of recipes. I have gotten a ton of recipes from Pinterest and have viewed vid's on YouTube. I'm not only looking for food sites but anything that gives info to learn from. I've got about 2 months until my tentative surgery date and hope to learn as many ins and outs, do's and do not's before I get to the date. And this has been done already and someone has a link to that, it would sure prevent a bunch of time from being wasted. Thanx ALL

    Not Crazy

Poor you, sorry to hear it wasn't as simple as waiting it out and it getting better on it's own. Speedy recovery and hope there are no more bumps in the road for you.
  3. Hate to come in here with not completely on topic question but been wondering... Is there a set amount of holes used in surgery or is every Doc different? From the video I saw at my 1st consult I assumed it was 3 or 4 but watched a youtube video the other day and the guy had 7. Vid was about 4 years old so not sure it things have changed. Sorry for barging in and thanx

    Before and after pics

Great work, you look really good. Congrats on the loss. Also great advice, have things on hand to keep you on the diet. I could see grabbing something unhealthy just because it's easy if there is nothing around. THANX

    In need of support

Very true, call the Doc before you make a decision and possibly make things worse. Again speedy recovery.

    Suggested Protein Powders Please

Thanks for posting this topic. I too am curious on others takes on these protein drinks/powders. I had my 1st Premier vanilla shake this morning and gotta say the initial taste was ok but VERY sweet and that fake sugar after taste is gonna be hard to get used to if I stick with them. Also a metallic -ish after taste as well. Have read and heard great things about Isopur but have not experienced it yet. Thanks for the info ALL!!

    In need of support

Sorry for your pain. I don't know anything about it as I am pre op but I'm sure your Doc has it right. Also know nothing about the Binder WildctGirl71 recommended as I'm a guy but what about an ACE bandage or something similar you may already have in the house? Doc said loose clothing and I'm sure that was so they would not rub on the incisions but pressure/support sounds like a great idea. Good luck, Wishing the best for you and a speedy recovery so there are no more worries!!!

    Newbie here from Ireland

Welcome and good on you for signing up. I Joined for the same reasons, wanted more info than what I had and what I knew. My brother had lap band surgery years ago and it did not work for him. I knew that was a no go for me for sure but knew nothing about bypass or the sleeve. I know your looking for specific answers here but I think the best way to have your questions answered is to look through the different posts. As far as experiences I have read many pros and a few cons. Not to sound morbid but the bad experiences are the ones that interest me more as I want to know what they could be and how others are handling them. Always good to be prepared. Hope for the best but prepare for the worst. I mainly stick to this board "Gastric Sleeve" as I know this is the surgery I will be getting but I'm sure you can find great info in the other boards as well. Best of luck to you on this journey, much success!!!!

    3 month follow up today

You are an inspiration sir. Congrats keeping up the hard work and Congrats on the results!!! Who actually measured height anymore, I havn't had it measured probably since highschool. I should have lied all these years and given myself a few extra inches. Does BMI count for anything anyway? I was told I was overwieght in my late teens when I was muscular and fit AF, think I was 14% body fat at the time. Never respected that chart since. anyway , good on you bro. Again CONGRATS!!!

    Endoscopy

I go later this morning for pre admission testing for the endoscopy I will be having on Friday. Just curious what to expect. Not on pre admission but the actual EGD. It seems pretty straight forward but being that I've never had it done, well might as well ask for experiences. Thanx ALL

    Endoscopy

That is an amazing drug. They said I may feel heat in my IV arm. Felt my entire face go tingly, made a circle motion with my finger around my face to tell the nurse. Next thing I know i'm being wheeled out to recovery saying "that was the best sleep I've had in ages". It was less than 20 minutes. Good gut and no issues. Throat feels like a had a rough hangover barfing a whole lot. Dry as hell and a bit scratchy but otherwise okee dokee. Glad everyone elses went sort of well. TaylorMade4One what do they do about the hernia? Is it in the stomach? Is that even possible or am i really stupid? Doesn't sound possible. Best wishes anyway.

    Endoscopy

Oh just childish boy type things. I'm tougher than you, why are you looking at my girl, a little too much happy juice at the night club and you feel like you can take on the world. All just luck on the other guys part really. I am just a natural bad ass.

    Endoscopy

Have fun moondoggie1983 . Never had anything shoved down my throat before but have been put out a few times. Couple of those were with anesthesia.....
  22. I would consult a lawyer. 1st doc says it in "YOUR" head, and 2nd says he could remove it during an office visit? That does not sound safe at all to me. Wouldn't cutting you open digging into your ribs to remove something be considered surgery? It's not a splinter in your finger.... Good luck whatever you do, hope everything is positive from here on!!!

    Breakfast ideas?

Had another appointment with my nutritionist yesterday and she recommended a site called skinnytaste.com Havn't spent much time there yet but does break down recipes by a lot of variable like course, ingredients, special diet etc. Looks pretty good. Good luck!!

    Pre-Surgery Benders

Been having them and they are pissing me off as it's holding back my weight loss. Find I'm eating things I normally wouldn't eat as well.

    Relationships and WLS

Stop wasting your time with this jackhole. What a piece of sh*t. If I lived near you I'd lay him on his ass. Listen, take the advise of all these people and get rid of this guy. There is literally nothing he is doing for you that you can't do for yourself. There is someone perfect for you out there. Don't forget this D-bag though, use him as a reminder of what you don't need in your life. This is your life and YOU need to make sure your happy with it. Maybe part of the reason why you started this journey to begin with. Best of luck to you!!!
