    July Sleeve

Good luck @AshAsh12 and @ClarksvilleSleever . Have a smooth surgery and a speedy recovery!!!!
  2. One of my pet peeves is when people blow sunshine up my skirt..... Wait, What..... haha. I appreciate honest answers. I know nothing about the guy other than the videos I watched, which HE put out. His own introduction of internationally known expert made me chuckle but he seems sincere on what he is preaching. If I knew everything about nutrition and dieting I wouldn't be in the situation I'm in. Board certs or not I don't generally just go with what dr's tell me as all truth. With the amount of times we hear things changing up...."This is bad for your health" and than 5 or 10 or however many years later, We take that back "This is good for your health". Or hey you shouldn't do that it's bad for your health, but you have this problem and you should take this. It will cure your condition but it may cause these other conditions or have all these thousands of side affects. Who knows? It's why I ask.
  3. I guess you thought his green idea was a bit BS huh? Thanks for the info. He seemed a bit odd and his intro of himself fits your profile pretty well. I know nothing about the guy and wondered why he would preach something so strongly against what everyone else seems to be following. I wonder how successful his patients are following his program. BTW, hope I never get on your bad side. Would hate to hear you **** on me. LOL
  4. Probably two shakes and 3oz of chicken. Maybe some veggies at some point in the day and I'm sure some pickles. Why did I think summer was a good time to do this?????????

    Before Surgery Concerns

When I was sent for my endoscopy I had to go for pre op testing at the hospital a week before. They did an EKG, blood work, checked weight, BP and maybe a few other things. I have to do the same next Thursday for WLS surgery. After that is done I have to get a medical clearance from my PCP because of my comorbidities. Maybe because you are healthy you don't need it? Good luck though!!! And tell G-Ma to chill and stop freaking you out. This surgery is safer than crossing the street.

    July VSG

July 12th surgery here and on day two of pre op diet. 2 shakes and one meal, snacks = 6oz fat free yogart or salad greens. Was worried early in week but just got approved yesterday from insurance and my surgery date was verified. Now I'm good to go and ready for this. Best of luck to all of you fellow July sleevers!!!

    July surgery

I'm right behind you @Simpson062681 Just got approved yesterday from insurance which happened to be day 1 of my preop diet. Not on a strictly liquid diet so it's not that bad. Yesterday was fine until the boredom at night came but made it through. Havn't done lunch yet and feeling a bit hungry but wanna wait a bit longer before having my 2nd shake. Surgery is July 12th for me.

    Sleep Study

I was mailed a test kit and did it at home. I slept just over 4 hours thankfully because that was the time limit they needed. Slept as I normally do sitting upright on the sofa because of back issues.
  9. Thank you all for your responses. I just got the call from surgeon's office and I got approved. Definite date of 7/12. So relieved. Thanx again!!!!!!!!!
  10. So tomorrow the 28th of June is the day. Fortunately it is not the liquid diet most of you have to suffer through. 2 Protein shakes 1 measured meal and "free foods" in between if I am too hungry. I know it's still going to be hard but I'm not too worried. The problem is I still havn't gotten approval from my insurance. This I'm worried about. Tomorrow also happens to be 2 weeks since they were supposed to submit my paperwork for pre approval. I kind of have a feeling they may have dropped the ball on that and not submitted when they were supposed to. I've been looking at my policy online and it hadn't showed that it was submitted so I called yesterday and she did see it but it had not been looked at yet. She told me to call back on Friday and see if there is any progress. In your experience what do you think I could/should do if nothing happens by Friday? Do I just stick to my diet and let it ride out? Do I call the surgeon's office and ask what's going on, is there even anything they can do or is the ball now in insurance court? Will probably just let it ride but figured I'd run it by those who have already been through this process and get your opinions. My tentative date is July 12 and I just don't want any reason for that date to become a problem. I hate not being in control. Thanx in advance.
  11. So obviously I have a bad back. Ive been out of work for 3 plus years because of it. I am/was a flooring contractor and because of all the heavy lifting and tearing up of old floors etc. it took a toll on my back. Not to mention as I got older the weight just packed on and as my back slowed me down the weight gain sped up. Along with a bad back and hopefully because of my weight I suffer from sciatica on both legs from hip to knees. I have newly acquired pain ( last year or so) in my hips knees and ankles. I can't walk more than a few feet without having major pain, standing up without leaning or holding the captian morgan pose is nearly impossible. I have weights and a stationary bike but have only used the bike a few times due to my knees and ankles being in pain. I have a strong feeling I could work through that pain if I could just get motivated. Regardless if you are a fellow back pain sufferer or not what can any of you recommend I do. I know there are tons of stretches for the back pain/sciatica but again lack the motivation. I know fitness plays a major roll in recovery and maintenance and I just don't want my back to hold me back. I am really hoping after surgery the pain will decrease to a point that I can at least do something. Thanx in advance for any advice!!!!
  12. Would have to get like 5 noodles plus a few more after I added weight. LOL
  13. No Pickles ever? Even b4 ? That's horrible....
  14. Aetna. LOL have 3 jars of pickles already. Yeah, think I'll try to wait until Monday. At this point I am not a patient man and I just started this diet too. Thanx All
  15. @AshAsh1 Went to visit my mom and pop with my youngest son on Sunday and did some walking laps and some under water arm workout type.... things. Felt great and no pain, perfect. @Kat410 Thanks for your advice. I know that Manhattan struggle. Spent almost 15 years working in the boroughs and almost always drove through the city to either get there or get home. Never feel like eating it until you smell it from one of the carts and it's almost always sooooooo good. When I 1st went to my PCP about my back pain she sent for PT and instead of sending me for any tests xray/MRI or whatever they just decided to wing and try different **** every time I went and ask how I felt after the last visit. Some of the things felt ok while there but I was almost always in more pain after. I went for 3 weeks/3 days a week and stopped. I know they are not all the same but I have very little faith in PT. I'll figure something out eventually.
  16. From my past experience (Way in the past, I was still a kid). It takes 4 to 6 months for the body changes to kick in. I'm sure you know the whole lighter weight/higher reps to tone up and heavier weight/lower reps to bulk up. It doesn't seem like your trying to bulk up so stick with lighter weights that allow you to feel a burn at 12 to 15 reps. It will feel easy until you hit the higher rep when you start to feel the burn. Eventually your body will adjust to the weight and you won't feel the burn as much. Add reps, say up to 15 to 20 or switch up your exercise working the same body part but doing a different movement. This will hit the muscle group in a different way. Takes breaks between muscle group workouts so they have time to rest and recover. For your midsection do an abdominal workout every other day and change the exercise. Always remember proper form and slower movement. If you can't keep proper form your using to heavy of weight. Don't be discouraged, it all takes time and you seem like you have the determination to get there. With the lifestyle/diet your already following you'll get there and it will be easy to stay there. Congrats on your success so far and best of luck on the new workout routine. Now I just need to remember this when I get there.....

    Hardest Part (outside of eating)

I think this idea is great!! Not the times exactly but to set a mealtime schedule is genius. Yeah, will be following something like this when I get there. Great info!!!

  22. So my surgeon recommended (said I had to) I buy "Bariatric Advantage" Calcium Citrate Chewy's 500mg & Chewable Advanced Multi EA. From what I gather they are just multi vitamins and iron pills. Is there any reason I need to get these other than they are chewable. I take multi's already and one of the last visits I had with him he said all my levels looked good. I'd rather not spend the $ if I can get past it. Is there another alternative? Cheaper maybe? What do you all take?

    Post Op meds

All those that responded since my last Thanx, I thank you dearly. I am greatly appreciative for the responses. @MarinaGirl Thank you for the answer to my question. What my PCP has me on is mostly double what the meds the surgeon wants me to take and like I said my last blood test from him he said all my levels were where they needed to be or higher. I'm not going to wast the $. @Frustr8 I really look forward to reading your responses. I really feel like they are genuine and come from a very caring place. Not to mention they almost always make me smile or laugh. I wish you and everyone else the very best in your journeys. Thank you all so much!!!!
