  1. Sounds horrible. Glad you got through it with no major issues. Sucks you had to go through it though. Happy healing from here on out.
  2. Damn, wouldn't have figured that. I wonder what his reasoning is? That just makes no sense. Sorry your dealing with that. Hope you work it all out and feel better.
  3. The point of not drinking 30 minutes before or after a meal is so the food in your stomach has more time to digest and the liquid does not push it through faster. It's not an issue of if you physically can or cannot drink and eat at the same time.

    5 Month Surgiversary

Congrats on the crazy amounts of weight loss!!! Way to go GREAT Job!!!
  5. Try the things you want in small amounts. That way you will know if they don't agree with you and may make you vomit. I've had an issue twice. Once was with the ground beef. I don't know what went wrong. It may have been too greasy, I may have eaten to fast or too much. I didn't puke until about 45 mins later when I went to have a drink of water. First sip was fine, second sip I couldn't even swallow. The feeling hit me right away and I had to b-line for the trash can. Second time was with pork ribs. This time it went down fine but after the 3rd bite my mouth started salivating like crazy and the nausea hit fast. Same b-line maneuver to the trash can. I've had dry meat and it's been rough going down but never an issue after that.
  6. Congrats on your weight loss. Congrats on hitting goal so quickly. Congrats on working the hell out of that waist trainer. Can dudes use them or is it a lady thing? I've never heard of them but after I post this I will be referring to Google. You look great and should be very proud. Love the ink as well. Post a closer pic if you can.
  7. I don't even remember when it became normal. I started pre surgery as well. I've even gotten used to looking at the clock as soon as I finish my meal so I know when the 30 is up.
  8. Eggs are a go to for breakfast with a slice of cheese. I'll cook some beef usually in the slow cooker so it's super soft. Chicken on a hot grill or pan for a quick sear then slow cooked in some type of liquid. You can cube the chicken prior to cooking it, cut it up after or shred it. The beef or chicken will be dinner for the family one night of the week then I'll work on the leftovers for the rest of the week. Shakes are still big part of my diet, I'll have either one or two in a day. I do not eat any kind of seafood either and I tried ground beef a couple of weeks ago and it didn't work out well at all so I have stayed away from it. The chicken and beef work out just fine for me. Good Luck!!!!!
  9. Am I wrong or are you trying to get this note from your PCP? It seems that way from what you typed. You should ask your surgeon for the note, I can't imagine they would have any issue giving you one. Also you should be able to get some type of medical note to restrict you to light duty. There is normally a maximum on how much you can lift for the first several weeks. You should also ask your surgeon for this note. Work out a way to get that water in and best of luck to you.
  10. Start using the "My Fitness Pal" app on your phone PC or both. Or similar app. You just log what you ate throughout the day and it calculates your nutritional intake for the day. To make it easy I log each meal when it is consumed. They have a very large library of meals so you can do a search and pick which meal best fits what you had. There are other apps like it, one is "Baritastic" which is very good as well. That should be more than enough for your insurance.

    My Doctor

Can your PCP some how be liable for any reason? I was not in any kind of weight loss program. We had discussed weight loss and she mentioned once WLS but I told her I was not interested. My brother had a band some years ago and it was a failure. A year or year and a half later and I was getting VSG. When I asked her for the letter she had no problem writing it. I don't get why a Dr would make you do a program under their supervision unless somehow they could get screwed for some reason.
  12. Congrats on making your goal!!! Congrats on getting there by 1 year. The transformation is awesome. You've been through relearning how to eat and be healthy over the last year and you hit goal, you'll have no problem maintaining. This should be the easy part. Good luck to you brother!!!! Side note- Please share your knowledge/experience with band workouts if you don't mind.

    40 something sleevers?

Love your thoughts on this. Although I do wish I had done it sooner when my PCP mentioned it to me 5-6 years ago I have no what if/what could have thoughts. Not until now anyway. LOL
  14. Thanks @BigTink2LilTink ! My plan was to do body weight workouts for some time then to progress to weights. It's been so long since I've really done any kind of physical workout other than walking I for sure need to take it slow. I really want to put a lot of focus on my back being that I have disc issues. I'm hoping strengthening the muscles back there will help stabilize things.

    SMH

I don't know how I hadn't seen this thread earlier. I LOVE IT. It's funny but the rants are SO real. The thing that has been stated and as of late really gets me is the repetitiveness of the same topic/question over and over. Every answer you could have hoped for has already been covered in "Maggie's" post from 5 minutes ago. As well as, I must be in a stall I've only lost 2lbs a day in the last month....... So many / To many.

I'm back on the grind again. Sorry for absence.

We're human, we'll have bumps in the road. The fact that you have the will to get back on it says a lot about you. Good on you Sir!!! At my stage it's hard to think about those things. It's all about learning and dreaming about sunshine and rainbows later. To know that it is absolutely possible to recover from hard times is inspirational. Thanks for sharing!!!!
