  1. So far so good. I had some soupy oatmeal for breakfast this morning with just a little Truvia brown sugar on it. I chewed, chewed and chewed. I am having a boiled egg for lunch. Give me some ideas for soft diet please. I am so tired of soup.

    May 10 surgery booked

My surgery was 4/12. I haven't experienced any vomiting or nausea. I am tolerating all foods (that I have tried) well. I started my soft diet today. I am not hungry and just eat when it is time to eat. I haven't had a lot of pain and what I have had has been around the incision sites. I haven't taken any pain medication. The liquid diet was hard. Best Wishes to you!
  3. Can't do cottage cheese....it's a texture thing (and possibly smell too LOL) I did buy some refried beans. I had some cooked carrots and a boiled egg for lunch. Thank you!

    VSG on 4/16/18: My journey

I like the Premier protein shakes. They have 30 grams of protein per shake. I usually drink 1 1/2 of these per day and eat an Oikos Triple Zero yogurt which has 15 grams of protein. (and I pick up a little protein in the other stuff that I eat/drink.) I have tried some of the tasteless protein in Crystal Light water and I couldn't tell it was in there.

    Scared out of my mind

I had a hysterectomy almost two years ago and was the same way. I searched the internet for everything. My doctor said that was the worst thing you could do. He was right. The surgery turned out well. I felt great afterward. Here I am two weeks post op from sleeve surgery tomorrow. I didn't search the internet as much this time. I tried to think of all of the positive things that would happen after I had the surgery. I prayed about my surgery and had a peace about it. I am a little tired but other than that I feel good and had little pain and no vomiting. Go for it!! Best Wishes!

Oh no! I have been so scared of doing that exact same thing! Hope you are ok.

Tome off work - how much??

I had mine on 4/12 and returned to work on 4/16.
  8. My doctor told me to do Benefiber, Miralax and stool softeners. Luckily, I went to the bathroom on day seven.

I had surgery on 4/12. (sleeve and hernia repair) Have you tried the Premier Protein Shakes? You can buy them at Sam's, Walmart etc. They are really good. I don't think I could do the powder. I had a Carnation Breakfast (light no added sugar) this morning mixed in skim milk and it was nasty. I feel pretty good other than I am tired. I went back to work on 4/16. Bowel movements are a whole other story for me.

    Time off from work

You will definitely have more energy when you go to full liquid diet. I have been really tired this week but today seems better. Best wishes to you!

    Time off from work

I had a sleeve and hernia repair on 4/12 and came back to work on 4/16. However, I have a desk job.
  12. That's great! I had mine on Thursday and returned to my desk job on Monday. I have been tired and a little sore but made it. I didn't have to take any pain medication or nausea medication. I have been really blessed.
  13. I was given some liquid medications, some pills and some dissolvable pills. However, I was released taking my blood pressure medication etc. as long as I tolerated it. (and I did) There are two doctors at the office I use. One will let you swallow pills immediately and the other one won't for about four weeks. I guess they are all different. (In all, I take five pills per day and am tolerating them all.)
  14. I got a blood thinner injection right before surgery and then was sent home with pills.
  15. I was an outpatient last Thursday. Dr. Schmitt performed my sleeve and hernia repair. My recovery is not any different from his hospital stay patients though.

    Shopping for Post-op

My surgery was done as outpatient and I had to see the doctor in his office the next day to have my drain removed. I had to get my daughter to pick up gauze and tape so that I could use on that place. (all doctors do not use a drain)

    Question about hiatal hernia

I was sleeved last Thursday. I also had hernia repair. I did not take any pain meds. It kind of felt like someone punched me in the gut. I have the sensation to straighten my back to relieve pressure under my breasts. Other than that all is well. I have not been nauseated and I have not vomited. Best wishes!
  18. I am 47 years old and was sleeved last Thursday. (I also had hernia repair.) My surgery was done as an outpatient surgery. I slept a lot the day of surgery and was pretty sleepy the next day. I feel great. I have been at work since Monday. I am really tired but doing ok. I am tolerating my liquids wells and can't wait until next Thursday so that I can add a little more to my diet.
  19. Hello everyone! I am almost a week post op. I feel great. I am still a little sore. I haven't had any issues other than going #2. So far no vomiting which is good because I really do not like to vomit. I am on day 2 of full liquid diet and I am tolerating everything very well. I had hernia repair while being sleeved and seem to be fine. I am glad that my surgery is over and I am looking forward to the life changes ahead. Best wishes to you all!
  20. I was at work today and didn't have my strainer. I fixed a can of cream of potato soup with water. I then used a spoon with holes in it and got out all of the large chunks. There were still a few very small pieces of stuff in it so I hope I haven't hurt anything. I tried to chew, chew, chew if I came to one of those small pieces. Please advise.

    Cream of Potato Soup

It was about an hour ago and I am fine. If I ate any they were very small. Thanks for the reply.
