  1. Everyone has such great advice and encouraging words, thanks y’all!... even tho I think my “food funerals” were just cravings due to shark week(I usually fight those urges much better than I did last week) your encouraging words and advice has really motivated me to get my act together before surgery next month

  2. Any fellow nurses(or any profession honestly) can help me out with this one... I currently work in home care, how long did you all take out of work? Ive had my gallbladder removed but due to other complications (pulmonary embolism) I was out of work for 1 month but honestly felt as though I could return to work the following week.... I know each individual is different but all input is greatly appreciated... TIA!

  3. I've had those. A lot of them. I didn't consider it a problem, it was just my way of saying goodbye to all the food I know I wasn't going to eat post op. I went all out the month before and never lied to my surgeon or anyone about what I did. That's how I overcame it. It was literally guilt free since I had nothing to hide.

If you gain easily just don't go all out on the sweets and carbs. I just didn't have an issue because I walk everywhere and still do. I've never owned my own car.

After I had my food funeral, it wasn't as hard going through the various food stages post op. I was one of those people that didn't have to do the pre op liquid diet. I just had to fast once it hit midnight once that day came.

I think having food funerals make the post op stage easier. If you have what you're craving now, you'll crave it less later, especially if your appetite returns. The first few days or weeks post op, you may not even be worried about food or eating. Lol

  4. What are you guys looking forward to most after surgery? Let's keep the inspiration up. For instance...
    Crossing my legs again.
    Painting toes without any hassle.
food not being on my mind constantly.
My contour on my makeup being emphasized more.
Snapchat filter not slimming my face but instead it's done naturally.
    Wearing shorts again.
Not being looked at weird because I'm a chubby girl wanting a salad.< br> Not hiding my body under layers of clothing.
Not having only my face complimented.
Not being embarrassed to run on the treadmill because my weight makes me feel like I'll break it.
Not being looked at weird in the gym.
    Saving money on groceries.
Bending over to tie my shoes without being breathless.
Not having my heart pound out of my chest when I am walking fast.

How about you guys? Anything you're looking forward to? No matter how silly!

I can 100% relate to the Snapchat filter one!

    Mine are

being able to keep up with my 4 & 7 y/o

Running up a flight of stairs without being totally winded

My husband being able to hug me without a struggle

Not be super hot and sweaty during the summer due to my fat rolls

My boobs getting smaller (I was DD in the 6th grade, now a size G)

  5. Heya, guys.... My surgery date is supposed to be sometime in May.... I haven't gotten a date yet but I will be done with my process the end of March... Then after my insurance approval I will have a definite date and time.. where is everyone located?

Sent from my A466BG using BariatricPal mobile app

I completed my preop requirements the end of March also! Scheduled for May 31, did you get a date yet? I’m located in Connecticut

  6. So I started this process, I would say, summer of 2016. I didn’t attend a seminar until November of that same year, with my first initial appointment with my prospective surgeon being March of 2017. Since then I’ve hit many, MANY bumps in the road, the main one being my pcp’s reluctance to write a letter of recommendation. Thankfully I’ve been able to over come every obstacle placed before me to get to where I am now! My paperwork (including letter of recommendation) was submitted to my insurance for approval 4/2/18. I have Connecticut Medicaid/Medicare also known as Husky A. I was wondering how long did it take for an approval? For those with the same insurance as mine.
