Hello all,
I am new to the group. Pre-op, in month 3 of my 6 required. I see Nutritionist on 4/19. I already have a bump in the road! My gallbladder is acting up and I have to have it removed 5/4! I have to wait until then because I leave for vaca (Turks and Caicos) in a week and dont want to be post op in another country! I have had a very positive experience so far! The Bariatric center employees have been stellar and so supportive! I am hoping to be approved for a fall 2018 surgery date. Anyone on a similar time frame?

I started my 6 mos of pcp visits in Feb. I had my nutrition consult and psych evaluation last week. My final pcp visit is mid July. From everything I've been told surgery should be 4-6 wks after that. I'm guessing late August or early September. I am planning to have RnY procedure. I would love to have people to compare notes with along the way!

Honestly, it all depends on your insurance plan, state and benefits. Some plans are relaxed and easy while others are strict and difficult.
I have United Healthcare through my Job in NYC. Due to my employer, my plan is very easy to navigate and what is covered. I do not have any issues with them and getting approval for any type of surgery.
Actually I reached out (just to see the process) for a panniculectomy and received pre-approval. I do not have a weight goal that I have to reach. I just have to wait 6 months from my surgery date to get it.
I call them all the time to inquire about information and they are always so kind and compassionate to me.
