    Loose Sking Before Surgery

my insurance company paid for the skin removal, i paid the extra for the cosmetic part. if i didnt have the money i would have been happy just to have the skin gone. my advice is if you get rashes make sure your doctor knows. they will ask for his notes and will run a check to see if you were ever prescribed antifungals
  2. I never made it to goal, but close. i have been at the same weight for about a year. the 2 areas that really bothered me were my arms and my tummy. I had the TT last month and now working on when Ill have the arms done. Most likely it will be january as the TT set me back a bit and Ill have to save a little for the arms and January is the best time for work!

    My APRON ----UGHHHH!!!!

i lost 105 lbs with the band and sleeve. prior to surgery most of my weight was in my abdominal area, so i knew this would be an issue.i had a TT 5 weeks ago. with the panniculectomy they remove the skin but do nothing with the muscles or any cosmetic work. my insurance paid for the panni and i paid the extra for the abdominoplasty. they removed 6.1 lbs of skin, so im very happy to have the bulge gone. i will be having my arms done in january...hopefully
  6. i lost 105 lbs and i did need ps. i had a tummy tuck on 5/11...my insurance did cover part of it. i knew i would have hanging skin in this area as this is where i carried all my weight. i have horrible batwings....im planning on nsurgery on that prob in january, that will all be self pay. the ps i have told me the only other area he would rec is the removal of some back fat i have. i hear of some ppl who do not need ps, but i wasnt one of them. it all depends on genetics, how stretched the skin is, your age and the length of time you have been overweight.

  10. hi all, looking for some advice. i had the band in 2008 and was revised to the sleeve in 2010. my lowest weight has been 145 lbs but i usually stayed between 145 and 149. i went on a cruise in september and even came home losing a lb, but since then my weight has crept up and today it was 152. i know its not a ton but dont want it to get out of control. what did everyone do when in this situation

  21. i think everyone has to make the decision as to what risks they are willing to take. unfortunately with surgery there are always risks. while i did develop a complication with the band i am not against the band. i lost a lot of weight with it and i know a few friends who have done very well with the band. and unfortunately right now the only way you can get the sleeve is if you have failed with the band.
  22. while i agree with what you said vicki the big complication of the sleeve developing a leak is a very big risk to take, while the chances of it developing is small it is still a risk none the less which was why when i was considering the sleeve i thought long and hard whether i would do it and i know i would prob of still opted for the band if i was initially considering surgery as i prob wouldnt of considered taking the risk at that time. now that all being said i am glad i did opt for the sleeve
  23. to be honest, i lost about 80 lbs with the band. i did develop a slip and did end up with the sleeve. i am happy with my sleeve but would have been happy getting another band. the sleeve is diff than the band. the band is by far the safest procedure.
