Feeling like my life is over
I'm so sorry that you've had such a struggle. Sending prayers your way for a quick recovery and smooth sailing from here on out.

Age 60 is the new 40?
I'm the opposite! I never want to live more than a few minutes from a large city. When I was 12, my parents moved from Connecticut to rural east Texas. I thought I had died. I moved to the DFW Metroplex when I was 20 and have never desired to live rural again!

Feeling really excited, and very thankful
I'm so happy for you. The surgeon's office should be a wonderful resource for you. I feel really bad for people who didn't get that experience.

Dark Urine
Creekimp13 is right. You are dangerously low on fluids! It may take days to get you back to normal.

Almost 60 and getting sleeve on 4/24/18
Glad your surgery is done. Hope you heal quickly! The pants are no surprise, they fill you with fluids to the bursting point! Please don't get on the scale for a week - it's not pretty!
-
After surgery
Holy cow. Glad you were able to get immediate treatment.

After surgery
Wow, that is terrifying! Hope you're doing much better now. What surgery did you have done?

Hi. 1st surgeon meeting tomorrow
Find out if they have staff on call over the weekends, also, if they always have a dietitian or nutritionist available when you have questions. Is there a support group? Good luck!

Age 60 is the new 40?
I got a BS Industrial Engineering in '81, worked for 15 years, stayed home with kids 15 years, Masters in Accounting '11, been working as an accountant ever since. I thought I could keep working after my twins were born, but I was delusional (I had 4 under 4). I had no energy left for anything outside the family!

Tea Drinkers
Thank you so much for posting this! I drink hot tea all winter, and iced tea the rest of the year. I will have to check David's out!

Thanks for your help!

Desperate Confessions.....When your mind "went there" to lose weight
I had those same thoughts as well, pretty pathetic, huh?

Most embarrassing diet/exercise product you've ever bought?
Since the statue of limitations has long expired, I admit to trying speed (Black Betties, I think) back in my 20s to control my appetite. They did nothing for me. However, if marijuana were legal where I live, that might be my go to. Not only do I not get the munchies, I don't care if I never eat again! Oh, for the days of my wayward youth!

Today is the day!
Best of luck to both you you! Sending best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Desperate Confessions.....When your mind "went there" to lose weight
Wow, your post made me laugh and then sigh! No, normal sized people (even ones that want to lose 40 pounds) have no idea how desperate you can become. Or how each failure piles onto the last one until you've got your own Mt. Kilimanjaro to climb. My mother (never had a weight problem, died of COPD) strongly encouraged me to take up smoking. Really! And, no, I didn't go there.

Scared out of my mind
While you're googling, check the survival rates for obese people who don't have surgery. It might give you a better perspective. That being said, it is major surgery and it would be foolish to take it lightly. Ask lots of questions in the forums, there are plenty of people who are willing to help you out.

Must try!
Oh, you're my new best friend!

Had my surgery yesterday!
Congrats on finishing "Phase 1"! Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Taking NSAIDs Post-Op
Before surgery, I alternated Tylenol/Advil every 2 hours for back pain. When I woke up from surgery, my incisions were fine but I was in full-on back spasms. The doctor had to give me pain meds for that, not the surgery. My doctor put me on Celebrex at my 6-week checkup, just at night to sleep. He has me take it at the same time as my PPI to protect my stomach a bit. During the day, I sit with my back on a heating pad most of the day and just take Tylenol. This is definitely a conversation to have with your doctor.
