Dining with Friends
I got outed at a department meeting. I had only told a few people at work (primarily my boss and co-workers who covered for me when I was out). The next thing I know I was at an interdepartmental meeting (maybe 40 people or so, some of whom I barely know) and their department head gives me a big thanks for jumping right back into work after my surgery. I could have died. She didn't mention what type of surgery, but still . . . I tried to let it go, but ended up sending her an email letting her know that while I appreciated the sentiment, I had not discussed my medical issues with many people and preferred to keep them personal. Yeah, like that's gonna work now, but at least maybe I saved the next person! She hasn't spoken to me since (or acknowledged the email) and it's been nearly a month.

Follow-up
Man, you just can't catch a break! Sorry to hear that, but better that they have an opportunity to look at it now rather than later. Sending positive thoughts your way!

My first post op appointment
Don't worry, you're still carrying around a lot of fluid/swelling!

Intermittent Fasting -- Are You Doing It?
Hmmm, again the comment about the different advice we all receive. I went to a support group meeting last week and the Nurse-Practitioner Facilitator talked about intermittent fasting. She said her research showed that it was quite successful for men, but not so for women. I wasn't planning on doing it anyway, but thought it was interesting.

Buyer’s remorse 4 days after surgery
I have to dilute them with lots of ice and about 30% water. Just too sweet.

Out With the Old--In With the New!
Good luck on hitting 100! I'm hoping to hit 50 next weekend!

Shifty supports
Sorry they're not as supportive as you'd expected. Hopefully, you may only need your mom for another day or two, if that. So, whether she groans or not, get her to do the laundry and clean the bathroom now! p.s. If your Mom's not good with empathy, it may not even occur to her that you may be sensitive to smells.

Any February Sleevers?
Yikes, stress can do that to you. Hope your life settles down soon.

Clothing - buy stuff and it doesn't fit
I bought a couple pairs of capris on sale that are too small right now. Made me smile to do it. They're size 18s.

3 week stall?
It sounds like your stomach isn't quite ready for whatever you're giving it that makes you miserable for 2 hours. Try something else and revisit that other stuff in a week or two. Are you starting with 1 Tablespoon quantities? If not, it might be too much, too soon. And this is from a pro who can still only handle soft/mushy at 10 weeks post op. Are you still getting most of your protein from shakes?

Oh, yes! I may have uttered an expletive or two at every pot hole and you can't even imagine what I said at the railroad tracks!

Might be cancelling Surgery. Given the choice would you do it again?
I lost 12 pounds on the pre-op diet.

Any February Sleevers?
That's great, congrats! Yes, it is much harder and slower when you're closer to goal to begin with. But we're here cheering you on!

Age 60 is the new 40?
Glad to hear things are going well! Did you ever think it would be perfectly normal to post about poop and gas? We get to know each other very well very quickly! Hoping the rest of your recovery goes smoothly!

VSG candidate, boyfriend NOT onboard!
I was curious to hear a male perspective on this one. Very clear and to the point!

Out With the Old--In With the New!
I'm not even tempted at this point. Just the sip I have at communion still burns. A whole glass would probably eat a hole in my stomach! This is such a new experience for me, I always had the famous cast-iron stomach! Now it's made of tissue paper!

So thankful for support at home - and sometimes it's funny
@Frustr8, you are an amazing lady with a compelling back story. I can only wish the best for you on your journey. Sending prayers, blessings, good vibes, and all to Columbus on May 24th!

I'd do it again, no brainer! Be brutally honest with yourself - where do you think you'll be in 2 years without surgery? Where do you think you'll be with surgery? Pick your future self.
