  1. I was banded on 6/3. I did everything right away. I didn't do anything strenous. I didn't hear that from my Dr. Mopping floors seem ok my I would double check with your Dr.

  2. Have you consider splitting your pills? ? I know the pill crusher I bought from GNC also has a blade. Perhaps that is an options. I too have heard mixed reviews on the swallowing of pills vs crushing. I crush my Vicadin each day. I just deal with the taste. I place it onto the back of my tongue in the crushed form or mix it in a spoon. I know it taste terrible but the taste goes pretty quickly. I do agree with the other prior posters have said. It seems like they really gave you some great advise. Let me know how you make out.

  3. Going into day 6 still holding up. Day 3 was the hardest in terms of soreness. I haven't been hungry since I was banded on 6/3. I have restriction and my band hasn't even been filled. I wish I did this years ago. Sorry your insurance doesn't cover it. I have Oxford Freedom plan. Oh well, you need to do what's best for you. I hope everything works out. Good Luck!!

  4. I was banded on 6/3 by Dr. Floch. My experience was surreal. My hospital stay was amazing. How could anything be wrong with those Morphine injections!! I ate all my food ( liquids, Jello, chicken broth) walked the hallways until a nurse suggested that I rest because I just had surgery.

My third day was the I experienced my first hardship. Extreme soreness, stayed in the bed most of the day. I left the house today at 1:30 went for my weekly mani/pedi and enjoyed " Sex in the City". Hooked up with my Mom, went on a few errands and came back about 10:30. I was able to bridge the Vicadin with Tylenol. Had no choice but to pulverize the capsules using my molars. I told myself this was necessary to deal with the pain. Let me telll you, it was well worth it.The Tylenol worked like a charm. I really need to check to see if it comes in liquid form, that will truly help my cause. I am attending a wedding tomorrow. I received approval to advance to Stage 2,yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I have never been so happy to drink full liquids. Really looking forward to the Protein Shakes, Soups from Trader Joe's. I'll just eat before I go and sip on hot Water during the reception. Yes, I see any liquid, it's mine. :tongue2:

  5. Hi Indi,

It's yoru girl MarLinda!!! Yesterday was sureal. Every aspect of my day was amazing. Expecially post surgery. Yesterday was all about the morphine. No one believed I had surgery. I walked the hall all day. My surgery time was around 10:30. I was placed in my room around 2ish. Didn't sleep a wink. Had to get 2 Ambien. One at 1:00 and the next at 2:00 am. Couldn't urinate had to be catheterized. I went 700mg (trust me I tried every trick). I downgraded my pain medication to the roxicet. I was then able to find success around 5:00 am, and the rest is history. Today overall was pretty good. Isopure was an amazing help ( i added 2 equals) with everything else. Oh, the pill crusher I bought at GNC was a great help to crush the Vicodin.

    Love,

    MarLinda:tt2:

  6. Dr. Floch,

I first met you in your Bariatrics Seminar on 4/2 at the Norwalk Hospital. You impressed me early on. You were so patient in answering all my questions. Your professionalism and die hard truthfulness and conviction to your craft is a godsend. Thanks so much for everything you have done for me. My gallbladder removal was such a success who knew I had 20-30 stones and one as large as 3cm, WoW!!!Fast forward to 12 days later, 6/3. My day to receive my lapband. Recovery was amazing your PA's were terrific. Ms. Feldman was quite knowledgeable and everyone that surrounds you is truly special. Thank you so much for saving my life!

    Love MarLinda- "Your Cali Girl"

  7. Today was my first day home from surgery. I haven't been hungry at all. The Isopure drink which can be bought from GNC really provided me with 40 grams of Protein, wow what a sustainer!! I bought a qt of wonton Soup broth from my local chinese restaurant, had a couple of sf popcicles, and Jello. I also had Water in between. Vicadin is how I have been handling my pain management. I bought a pill crusher/slicer from GNC which has truly been a godsend. I hope this helps anyone who reads it. Lastly, thank you Dr.Floch my gallbladder surgery a week in half ago was flawless and my post op from my band has got me of to the best start ever. I love you!!

  8. at last my day has finally come. Although this process started 4/2; which is very quick for the most part I am so happy. I have overcome Optifast 800 going on my second day of clear and it's really not bad. Of course, I do admit I did do some non basic things to satisfy my cravings. Mixed clam base w/ chix broth, tasted like seafood chowder. I mixed wonton Soup with Miso, that's a great flavor. The sleeping pills I bought for costco were a godsend. Truly, that is what helped me on my toughest days. Finally, my day is tomorrow. Ok, I broked down on Friday and cheated. I ate poached trout with vinegar and lettuce. I ate it ,it did the job and I had just an ounce of guilt. I have not strayed since. I am so proud of myself. I plan on carrying the torch tomorrow.

Thanking all of you for your endless support,

    MarLinda

  9. I told everyone. Regardless if they wanted to know or not. i discuss every aspect of the procedure, eating, etc. Everyone is very supportive especially the guys. Most of the women who I would classify in the super thin category are very insecure. I am happy for me and I feel that's all that really matters:))

  10. The only really I did stick to it was because I didn't want my surgery to be more complicated. My Dr.will sew you back up if you don't do it. He said it is to decrease the fatty deposits in your liver. He has to clamp your liver is fatty it makes the operation more difficult. Your liver it firm and not soft or plaible. The diet make you much easier to work on. Where do you live? I ate allmy bars ughhhh!

  11. I am geting banded on 6/3. I can tell you, yes it's hard. I had a mini breakdown at work. Literally cried at my desk and yelled I'm hungry. I can really do that at work. Everyone has been really supoortive. Dr. Floch put me on Optima 800. 4 shakes and 2 bars a day. This is the hardest thing I've ever done. It got so bad I was craving shredded lettuce w/ vinegar. I did make one mistake. I ate all my bars and i had to buy the sllimfast 4 hour bar. i think i will come clean and call the office tomorrow and tell them what i did. i started at 244. i am now at 230 naked in the am. I took sleeping pills to take my mind off the hunger. i also drank a lot of Water. more than what was recommended. it really helped. i was fortunate enough to get my gallbladder removed last Thursday. They really helped me keep my mind off things. Chewing sugarless gum helps too. Good Luck!
