    Changing BC after surgery?

So I just got back from my doc and she said only options for me that would suit my needs would be nexplanon (arm implant), IUD and Nuva ring. I love the idea of the nexplanon but want to try non-implant birth control first. So Nuva ring it is. I really still like the idea of getting my period monthly and some women lose their periods with implants.

    Milestone Rewards?

Thank you! This is good advice
  3. it seems like you would have success with either surgery honestly. But since you mentioned diabetes, I would go with RNY only because of the way it could alter your tastebuds, malabsorption and possibility of dumping. I was a huge sugar/carb person and had VSG. I felt the VSG allowed too much leeway after a while. And I see many people still eat carbs, fried foods, sugar etc with the sleeve. Now with a revision to RNY, no way can I have an abundance of sugar and/or carbs. I get uncomfortable and some diarrhea. I am 3 months out and still trying new foods and learning but these “consequences” let me know what I need to stay away from. Which is what I wanted all along. Whatever you choose, good luck and much success to you

    Milestone Rewards?

Oh man I had this idea at first but now I am buying everything in sight & rewarding myself a lot lol. When I hit 100 lbs lost I want to do a photo shoot though to celebrate. And husband said it’s be nice to take a big trip to celebrate and Italy may be it! Hopefully by end of year I can hit it and we can head to Europe by spring

    Non Plain Water Drink Choices

Minute Maid makes alight drinks with very little sugar/carbs and are 15 calories. They’re in the refrigerated section of the stores. I dilute mine a bit for guilt purposes. One bottle lasted me about 3 weeks because I don’t drink it often. Diet ocean spray has good low cal flavored drinks too; in the aisle, not refrigerated. I too dilute those
  6. To me, it all feels similar. I have had 3 surgeries to remove cysts from my ovaries (1 open surgery, like c-section & 2 laparoscopic) & also has to sleeve and then RNY. So, 5 abdominal surgeries and they all get the same. Only difference was I didn’t have gas pains with the open surgery for obvious reasons. I have always woken up feeling like an elephant was sitting on my chest/abdomen. Recovery/care has been pretty similar for all of them as well.
  7. I did buy one and used it once. I find it still takes the same amount of time/energy to use the air fryer as it does to use the stove, toaster oven, oven etc. i made wings in it and I wasn’t thrilled. I prefer to make them my way in the oven anyhow and it’s less mess I find. But most people rave about them. I purchased mine because of the raving but now not using it lol

    Protein Shakes

A lot of people love Premier protein shakes. I did until post op I couldn’t tolerate them; made me have diarrhea. Now I stick strictly to premier protein clear drinks & Genepro odorless, tasteless powder. I mix half a scoop Genepro into my premier protein with a crystal light and drink everyday. So much easier and cheaper than buying a multitude of other products. I still have powder I purchased pre op that I haven’t opened & eventually I may play around with them as drink them or give them away so moral of the story is try some now, see what ya like but don’t go overboard with buying lots of drinks because you may have different taste buds post op or you may not be able to tolerate it. Vitamin Shoppe is good about giving samples & GNC will go e you store credit for opened products you don’t like or full refund on stuff you haven’t opened
  9. You can ask your doctor not to put the surgery name on the paperwork. Legally, your HR/boss (whomever handles the paperwork) cannot speak about the surgery even if it is written. If they do, you can sue!

    Liquid Diet

Aah ok. Some people like to have broths from pho places because it is so flavorable. Or the broth from egg drop soup.

    Broke my stall!!!

Stalls are indeed not fun but sadly part of the process. As long as you keep on track, they’ll break. Awesome job!

    Changing BC after surgery?

Oh wow, had no idea about that concerning the shot. Thank you. If my doc says the iud is the best option I will have to consider it for sure

    Changing BC after surgery?

I plan on changing birth control if I cannot continue to take the pill. I had bypass, I see my gyno next week if I need to change bc, I am opting for the shot or Nuva ring. I wouldn’t mind doing Implanon but I want to start trying for kids within 1year and 9 months and I have read some horror stories about the sticks being removed. definitely not getting the iud because I have had too many friends get pregnant with it or are actual IUD babies. Besides my sister developed increased blood pressure from having the IUD i just want something simple lol. I love the pill so much

    TMI - My poop jouney

I have found that milk of magnesia helped when I was freshly post op. And that was around the 8-10 day post op day. I have only needed it that one time. There are times now (3 months post op) where my poop has been liquid and other days where it’s normal. Once you start eating a variety of foods with fiber etc. and drink more water, moving your bowels become easier.
  16. I was also on my period during surgery. Wasn’t bad because the pain meds help lol. My periods have gotten worse in terms of heavier flow and more weird pain. My pain now is more back pain versus low abdomen pain. I hope it adjusts and gets back to the old routine but I am seeing my gyno next week to switch birth control because the pill may not be fully absorbed. I want to stay on it but I will see what the doc says.

    Family gatherings

I always make sure I bring a dish I know I can eat; if it’s potluck style etc. or you can put a little bit of the things you can eat on your plate and keep it with you all the time and nibble so it looks like you’re eating more. Or if they ask questions, just tell them you aren’t stuffing yourself, you had a bit to eat before coming over or you’re going to hit up another place after this event so no one keeps questioning you.
  18. I honestly think you will be fine. I have been on a few all inclusive vacays pre-op & never ate as much as I thought I would lol. and your body will tell you when you have had enough I am sure. At least you’re able to tolerate most foods which is great! Just listen to your body and have fun!! I think the hardest part might be the alcohol though haha

    Worried about my wife

Yea, it seems like you were anti-surgery from the beginning and are now finding things to be wrong to justify your feelings. If your wife and surgeon feel she’s fine and healthy, then her looks shouldn’t really be of any concern. If she wants to gain more, that’s her decision. If She is weak and wants to weight train, that’s her decision. I am sorry about your aunt and your family’s loss. and she has a stomach, she can weight train. She just doesn’t want to maybe?
  20. I have been having aches on right side of back/chest/abdomen for about a week. I have an ultrasound tonight & meet with team tomorrow. I am almost 3 months post op. This ache isn’t pain but it’s bothersome. Just wanted to know (just in case I need to have mine removed) how long is recovery for gallbladder removal. I am hoping not to take more than a week off for recovery. And how has your diet or vowels changed since remova, if they have?
  21. It really depends on what the insurance companies cover. Like Frust8 stated, some insurance companies have a 1 bariatric surgery per lifetime coverage. If the insurance company gives the patient/doctor a problem about coverage, more documentation and/or test work is needed. But your surgeon will let you know. I feel as if revisions are becoming more common and less people are having to fight for them
  22. It really takes some time for your body to adjust to this new way of eating and getting nutrients. You may experience some weight gain and even stalls over time but it’s normal. your weight will adjust if you just keep following the routine your surgeon/team put you on.
  23. Much luck to you and well wishes! So very exciting

    Bra after surgery?

I purchased a few Hanes seamless bra’s from Walmart. They have some at jc penny’s too or online. Most go up to a 3xl and that fit me just fine. Although my incisions healed pretty well and fast, I was wearing a regular bra at 1.5 weeks.
  25. The only person I have heard of whom had a revision to bypass due to GERD at a lower weight than yourself was an instagramer by the name of crystaljones_wls she was already tiny when she revised and lost more. But her body is maintaining at a good weight and she was successful
