  1. 4-6 weeks.

I have a physically demanding job and took off 3 but I was put on light duty and got increased assistance. Discuss this with your surgeon but those with physically demanding jobs should definitely take as much as they can being it will take time to get readjusted to drinking while up on your feet/moving and eating properly while maintaining enough energy

  2. Everyone is different. Not all foods that bother one will bother another.

I had the revision 7 months ago and I am able to tolerate every food I have tried under the sun. Dairy bothers me sometimes but only straight milk.

The revision for me was fine, no complications. I lost weight at a faster rate but now I have stalled for quite some weeks. But I am also working out more and weight lifting.

  3. Prove him wrong.

surgery won’t fix your problems 100% but it’ll make you more aware of your problems maybe.

When people aren’t supportive and say that surgery won’t fix the problem, just turn around and ask them “have YOU helped me fix my problem?!” Bet they won’t have much to say then

WLS is the last resort for most and we go through extensive prepping so Please do not let your significant other talk you out of something that you know will help you. Much luck to you

  4. Maybe she got Tylenol with codeine? That should be enough for some.l and many surgeons only prescribe that. I had morphine the night of but the very next day was just Tylenol with codeine. And when I went home I only took the Tylenol for 3 days and stopped all pin meds.

it seems pretty unethical to just give plain Tylenol without anything unless this person had a history of substance abuse. And that nurse should be fired for discussing anything with you lol

  5. Like Matt said, this could be an opportunity to educate. When we don’t speak up and attempt to educate, we remain complacent and comfortable with what the naysayers say. If you educate and they still feel that way, then all you can do is ignore or ask them not to speak about such things around you or you can walk away.

you can also tell them that I had my intestines rerouted and I eat potato chips, I eat at restaurants and not once have I ever eaten baby food in my life.

  6. Movies, paint night, walks, sight seeing, museums, shopping, going to gym together.

Turn date nights into day dates. For my husband and I, our dates still very much revolve around food. I just eat differently. Your life doesn’t have to change, just the way you eat.

Have you and your hubby take little sheets of paper, you each write down some date ideas with a percentage of them being new things you’ve never experienced. Each week, you pick a piece of paper and plan to do it that week. It’s fun!

  7. We’ve all second guessed ourselves at some point; it’s normal. Keep pushing through, once you keep seeing the results, you will become more confident in your decision.

for me, I didn’t want to be one of those people whom regretted not going through with the surgery. Good luck!

  8. This happened to me when I had surgery for something in my early 20’s. Your surgery was planned and the doctors/team should have planned for anesthesiologists in your network.

Mid they legit had no anesthesiologists in the hospital or center you went to then you can now ask for the anesthesiologists to get under the network you are in; or you can call the hospital and tell them it isn’t your fault that the docs were out of network and you want to fight the bill. Or you can simply pay it if you choose to; most hospitals have payment plans.

in my case, the anesthesiologists/his practice filed to be put within my network/under my insurance and all was well. Don’t know if this happens often but it doesn’t hurt to call or ask.

  9. When you start exercising your body needs to adjust. You must give it time. The weight loss via the scale will show up. I suggest taking pics and measurements to see the change because the scale won’t show it for weeks and sometimes months. Be sure to switch up the workouts as well so your body can go into a bit of a shock. We lose so much weight directly post op because our bodies are in shock and we are eating so little. As we are able to eat more and a wider variety of foods, along with working out, our bodies need time to adjust

  10. I agree with you 100%

but let’s be real, these problems occurred and were there in the relationships before WLS. In some form or another. These spouses are just seeing it because they’ve had something drastic occur in their lives.

and let’s be real on another note, people settle for partners. ALL THE TIME. And they settle within the relationship. I met my husband with him not knowing how to cook; guess what, I taught him and now he cooks. If we have kids together I want my kids to see their parents sharing roles. He does laundry, cleans, cooks, grocery shop. I do yard work, I repair our vehicles etc.

this is why it’s common that partners seperate after WLS. People don’t have standards...it’s ok to have standards. Fight for yourself or no one else will

  11. If I were you and had to lose 150 lbs I would go with bypass.

I have bypass and do not dump. Not everyone with bypass experiences dumping. I actually had a revision of sleeve to bypass due to not losing weight and having GERD. Trust me, GERD is not in any way fun. I was miserable with anything I ate.

If you experience dumping, it could be a blessing; it’s your body’s way of letting you know “oh no, don’t put that in your mouth again.” Some people experience different food likes/dislikes post op; it may last forever, it may be temporary. Dairy may not agree with you a few months post op, but you may eventually tolerate it.

These surgeries aren’t cookie cutter by any means so to say that you WILL or WILL NOT experience a certain thing isn’t always the case.

good luck with whatever you choose

  12. I am one of those people whom have gone from cooking almost all my meals pre-op to eating almost all my meals out post-op.

i have no desire nor time to cook anymore because I am literally loving my best life with traveling and doing more things outside and being active.

I tend to make the best choice when eating out and most of the time my husband and I share an entree or I end up getting Soup or an appetizer. If it’s fast food, I generally order chicken or salads. For me it’s just easier. Am I tempted by things like dessert, bread and drinks, sure but I am so use to not getting those things now.

You just have to learn a different style of eating. It’s hard to plug things into MyFitnessPal but I sometimes carry my scale with me when I am out eating and sometimes eyeball things.
