I had a little cup of caramel icecream today
Bryn910 replied to apositivelife4me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I noticed your surgery was almost 2 months ago. I just find that starting these bad habits so soon will be that, nothing but a bad habit. It may lead to other bad habits. Sure it tasted good and didn’t bother you, but the same could be said for chips, donuts and candy. Most people don’t eat these things so soon (Meaning it’s not on your docs/team food plan). I would be careful about introducing ice cream so soon. Maybe stick to sugar free popsicles -

Hydration and exercise after bypass
Bryn910 replied to GettinSkinnywithit's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am not sure why you would think it isn’t possible to stay hydrated & still do the things you love. I mean, you may not go fishing 3 weeks post op on a boat for long, but after that you should be fine. You might even want to get a camelbak, or another hydration pack so the water is always there with you to sip. You just have to take your water with you. It is possible. I wouldn’t back out because of that reason. It seems very minor than the larger picture -
I can’t answer all your questions but I had a revision from sleeve to bypass and I don’t regret it this far. Sometimes weight loss can be slower for revisions but I am doing well. I too had GERD, I see more and more people having sleeve to bypass revisions. I have had no complications *knocks on wood* i have kaiser

Does it hurt? If it does, I would guess rib displacement. If not, I would assume it’s your body adjusting the new you. Fat being displaced, muscle wasting or building. I had the same experience when I started “deflating” a few weeks post op. It felt like abdominal area was getting caught on something internally. But it went away after a few weeks

My husband was home with me for 3 day post op. I physically didn’t need him with me but it was nice to have him grab me something if I need it etc.

You look great! Congrats!

Before Surgery Concerns
Bryn910 replied to Janellvp10's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not sure why you would need clearance from your PCP...your surgeon/team are already running the tests. I would be a bit concerned about not having an EKG & chest X-ray. It helps the anesthesiologist tremendously. Especially if you have a slight cold. I have had each before every surgery I have had. I wouldn’t trust a doctor that didn’t do it (unless it was an emergency). People walk around with pneumonia all the time. But since you called. Just ask and see what they say -
Guess how much my surgeon's office wanted to charge my insurance?
Bryn910 replied to kordie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This i have had multiple surgeries and have had to fight with hospitals to get things removed from surgical list. i fought a darn band-aid! They charged me $1.28 for 1 band aid...there wasn’t a band aid on my body. They also charged me $5,000 for the anesthesiologist fee because he was out of network. I told them they had weeks to get me a doctor that was in network and they proceeded to tell me the doc that was suppose to be working with me had an emergency and couldn’t come. Well...that isn’t my fault! And they took off the charges. Hospitals can afford to dismiss charges; they over charge everyday. -

Wedding Ring Falling Off!
Bryn910 replied to Creekimp13's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Mine is loose but not quite falling off (I have sausage fingers). but I wear gloves for work and I am constantly putting them on and taking them off that when i take them off, the glove is bringing my engagement ring with it lol. The wedding band is ok but coming off slightly. I have just given up wearing them. I am going to buy a cheap band from Walmart. Once I hit goal weight/maintain, I will get them resized -
Sleeve to bypass revision success stories
Bryn910 replied to miss_smiles's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I am almost 7 weeks out sleeve to bypass and I too feel no hunger/no restriction. But I eat VERY little. Less than 2 ounces a day. I just can’t get use to food yet. We are still healing. i have read that weight loss may be slower for these types of revisions. My surgery was May 10th & I have lost 29lbs. 50 lbs from my highest. I believe what you are feeling is normal. try and get all your water in an way possible. You’re body won’t let go of anything if you aren’t drinking your fluids. Have sugar free popsicles as liquid (my nutritionist said it counts as 2 ounces). And try sugar free jello; those are liquids. -
Surgery canceled because of nicotine
Bryn910 replied to AndreaNicole's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry you are dealing with your brother’s death. No one knows how to cope with such news. I hope your program delays the surgery and maybe they can give you a few more weeks and test you again. You could ask. Don’t give up!! -
That’s how gyms make their $$. They get in you and you’re stuck in a contract. This is why I won’t do gyms that have a contract. There are so many new fitness places that are popping up. But they are so expensive. If i remember correctly, OTF (near me anyhow) was about $160 per month for unlimited classes. Something I was not willing to spend.

Congrats! I had a bit of scar tissue too that an incision is over and i am still experiencing some discomfort 6 weeks later. It it gets better with time. Continue to rest up and heal

Why does your place of work need a letter so soon? You don’t even have the approval letter yet; that should be ok to send to your job, correct? usually people have weeks before the surgery is scheduled and then you can get your affairs in order

RNY bypass 6/20 too much ?
Bryn910 replied to Oceanlove's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Liquids for me were very easy to get in. Besides, you’re still healing and nerves aren’t fully healed yet so you won’t feel much. I never tried to get in 3-4 ounces at the liquid stage; even now on soft foods I stay below 2 ounces or less. But follow your teams guidelines. Now that I am a little over 6 weeks out, I get full from some protein drinks & satisfies from some foods. Don’t worry so much, and just be patient -
Minute Maid makes a low calorie, sugar and carb drink with a variety of flavors; Light 15 drinks. Could add some unflavored protein or dilute with water if too sweet. https://www.bing.com/images/search?view=detailV2&ccid=MVl34F7N&id=374E7EE0E358F7B70597E66A85260CC05438F7CE&thid=OIP.MVl34F7Nvk4jSIhRe35i2AHaLH&mediaurl=http%3a%2f%2fsite-images.s3.amazonaws.com%2fwp-content%2fuploads%2fMinuteMaidLightPeach.jpg&exph=480&expw=320&q=minute+maid+low+calorie+lemonade&simid=607989577059339257&selectedIndex=7&ajaxhist=0

I am worried about this too; for now I still take the pill (6 weeks and some days post op) and we use condoms but condoms make me super dry quickly. I made an appointment to see my gyno and I believe I will be asking about the pill, patch & nuva ring. Really don't like the idea of implants or IUD's; besides, at the 2 year mark post-op, we will be trying for kids

My taste buds have completely changed. I thing tastes the same and nothing tastes satisfying. Even though I am on the soft food stages, this stage consists mainly of fish, while I loved fish pre-op, I just can’t handle anymore fish or cheese! I am eating less than 2 ounces of food a day but it doesn’t even bother me

Friends and family problems help!
Bryn910 replied to nicolebklyn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am one of those people that would tell my mom to leave and just say I need alone time. How incredibly rude of her to want to sleep in your bed when you’re the one healing. I will never understand people like that. Not to mention the food thing and eating in front of you. Maybe I am a witch but I would express my feelings to them the way you’re doing to us now. These people in your life will never know how you feel unless you communicate it with them. And if they’re still coming at you the same way, just ignore them for some time. If they apologize and want back in, they’ll let you know. If they don’t, then you have seen their true colors. Life is too Short. -
How long before I can return to work?
Bryn910 replied to wishful.shrinking's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I practice physical therapy and we have to be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs. I didn’t go back until week four but my place of work habe me an assistant and only high level patients. They were very accommodating. if I were you, I would legit take 6 weeks off. I just feel like there is no real accommodation in the ER. I am six weeks out and still don’t feel 100% with lifting or doing certain movmements -
My doctor advised that we abstain from intercourse for 6 weeks, and i did just that. This was also due to the fact that females had to be off birth control a month after the surgery. They wanted no risk of pregnancy this early out. So if you’re a female I would be very cautious about your sexual activity. There are other things you can do if you’re not on birth control/condoms

Let's hear some normal poop stories
Bryn910 replied to modymatey's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am 6 weeks out and my bowel movements are normal. I poop every 2-3 days. They’re actually better now than before I had the surgery. -
I love chipotle. I had extreme diarrhea with their food one day, and then 2 days later I learned of the e.coli outbreak. I stopped eating it for about 7 months and went back. It’s so good; especially their vinegarette dressing
