    Doctors office error

I would definitely say something. I would ask them to switch the scale to pounds. Most of those large sized scales have a button that can change it to pounds
  2. When you say your family, do you mean you’re a mom and your husband/kids eat differently. Or your family as in parents/siblings? i only ask because if it’s the first, I fee it’s harder because it’s hard to say no kids to kids and change their diet drastically in a short time. But change can happen for both parties. If it’s the latter, I say just buy your own food and don’t concentrate on the others. My husband ate poorly but after my surgery he wanted to make a change too. He is by no means overweight, he just wanted to eat healthier. So now it’s easier for me which I am thankful for. It’s all really about self control but you can do it. It sure is tough

    Gastric sleeve

6 months is the average approval time/process
  4. I had the sleeve and now have RNY. I totally regret my sleeve and wish I had gone for RNY originally

    Don’t know if I’m full.

Aah ok. Yea that can be hard if you’re allowed an “unlimited” amount of food. But soft foods are still tricky. I began by eating half a scrambled egg then ate an entire egg the next day and was fine. No difference in feeling so I understand. when you start eating chicken breasts or turkey and some veggies you should feel something.

    Don’t know if I’m full.

I felt that way when I was on soft food too. Never felt full. But I always measured out my food; nutritionist said eat 2 ounces or less and I did just that. You’re still healing and it could be hard to tell. i am more than 8 weeks out and I still don’t feel full, but I feel satisfied. I always stop eating before I get to the possible full stage. My nutritionist said it’s fine as long as I am meeting my protein, liquid and carb goals. And yes I still supplement with protein drinks. Hang in there, you’re listening to your body and it’s a good thing.

    Snarky comments

I would just remind them that this is about you and not them. Tell them that you’d appreciate it if they spoke nothing else about it unless you brought it up. or you could ignore them. I am finding that people hate being ignored and it’s better sometimes than even giving a reply. If they ask you how much time you’ll be taking off, tell them you already discussed it with your supervisor. It’s none of their business
  8. I don’t think you’re a horrible person, nope. Do we cheat, sure. Heck, I cheated on my pre-op diet. And you know what, I told myself I have no self control. I can’t even follow simple directions for a short time. And do I think that about you, sure. These docs put things in place for a reason. 3 weeks out, you’re still healing and anything could get caught in staple line. Healthy or not. Would you call your doc now and say you transitioned yourself early? If your answer is no, then you probably shouldn’t do it I really don’t mean to sound harsh but I beat myself up so much pre-op and I think post-op is crucial. Especially so soon out. Yes other people may be further along than you at this point with the same surgery...I think This is why people transition themselves. Because they see that others can tolerate it

    Surgery Tomorrow

Congrats and good luck! i had no nerves pre-op...I just wanted my restful sleep under anesthesia lol. dont worry about food so much, I was for post-op and let me tell you....it’s andifferent ball game! I was not expecting this but it’s a good change. I went to lunch today and ate two forkfuls of my grilled chicken garden salad & had enough. I wasn’t full, but I got tired of it or I was satisfied. I still don’t know. But I had leftovers. I came home to put the salad and the fridge and there wasn’t any room! lol my fridge is full of leftovers; this past week we had a lot of events to attend so leftovers like whoa. But embrace it. It’s mind boggling and fun at the same time. Like a roller coaster ride for sure

    Yogurt and pudding..what stage?

On my program we aren’t allowed any of the full liquid nor purée foods. You may want to check with your team
  11. I had the sleeve to bypass revision in May of this year due to GERD. I was on pantaprozole (sp?) for a few months and nothing helped. I also wasn’t losing weight so we agreed on a revision. havent had GERD since and it’s such a relief. I too had no ulcers was well worth it in my opinion

    Opinions

I think it’s important to stick to the plan that was provided by your team. You’re still healing and you don’t want to risk anything and have complications. It can be frustrating to see other people eat ahead of you on a different plan than yours even if you had similar surgeries and surgery dates. Hang in there, you can do it

    mints?

I have no idea about mints. But you could ask your doc for nystatin. I had it post op to help with the horrible thrush I had and bad breath

    Telling the Family

I would tell them. I too freaked out while going through the process of WLS. I only started telling people once I got approved and had a date

    Steps

You should be ok, steps are good. I had to do about 10 steps to get into my home and on the level I was staying. Just go slow and take your time

    Sleeve to bypass

I had the sleeve to bypass in May of this year, 2 months out today. I have lost a total of 56lbs (since pre-op). I am still shy about eating food and am only allowed to eat fish, seafood, chicken, turkey & veggies. I am now able to eat about 3 ounces of food but at a time but I never finish it. I don’t feel full, I just feel like I have had enough. I am still nervous to eat to full for fear of overeating. I had no complications and am so glad I got it done. I didn’t lose much with the sleeve and developed GERD. I am currently on my second stall since surgery but that’s to be expected
  22. I felt the same way. It took me years to see a doctor about my sleeve to RNY revision. It is very scary! but being anxious & scared is normal. But things got better when going through the program again and feeling confident with what my surgeon & team were saying. And honestly, being on this forum helped; to read about others revisions. Don’t give up and try to remain positive. If you have complications that can only be fixed with a revision, then it’ll all be worth it in the end. Hang in there!

  24. This is interesting. Didn’t know you didn’t have to buy the machine. This is good because my counter space is low in my kitchen lol. good info, thx
  25. Oh no. You may want to contact your surgeon/team about this. I hope they can figure it out and you feel better.
