  1. Now I have seen where people add protein drink to their black coffee without anything else which I think is fine. I just don’t like the taste. I tried to like tea...but yea, that was gross lol
  2. I am not going back. I use to drink an array of coffee styles drinks and they’re just empty calories.

    Seriously???

Maybe they didn’t want to say anything because most women don’t like comments about their weight. Whether they lose or gain. I would take it with a grain of salt.

    Will I Ever Get There?

Have you tried incorporating weight training into your workout regimen?
  5. I agree with 2shea. You should be able to lose the 2lbs. Or more if you replace a meal with a protein drink and stay very low carb

    Baby wearing post surgery

Your doctor will go along with the usual rule of no lifting/carrying anything over 10 pounds. You may feel ok but it may decrease healing time, bust a stitch or tear your muscles more in the abdominals. I would just advise you to keep baby/child on lap, cuddle and snuggle until 6 weeks

    Sick leave

almost All surgeries are elective if they are planned in advance: c-sections, joint replacements, heart surgeries etc. so your supervisors don’t have a leg to stand on. File FMLA and let HR handle it. You don’t have to tell your supervisors the extent of your surgery ever
  8. That is a great informative article. I am quite shocked at how many states aren’t covered under Obamacare/Medicaid. More insurnsce should look at these procedures as preventative; that’s how we (the recipients) see it. Thanks for sharing

    skipped purée stage

Mine was similar. Post op, they had us on 3 week liquids and then transition to soft. They said they don’t do purée stage because they don’t want us to get use to slider foods (soups, yogurts etc.)

    May 2018 losers bench

Make sure you differentiate between diarrhea and just looser stool. When all you have is liquid going in, liquid is going to come out. Diarrhea is more frequent bowel movements throughout the day and a feeling of not being able to hold it. if you’re having one or two bowel movements a day, I would say that’s normal (according to my team). I also learned I can’t handle milk based protein cause I was having the worst diarrhea with that. Hope you feel better!
  11. I am a little over 23 days post op & have transitioned from a 3 week liquid diet straight to soft foods. I am only allowed 1 once of whatever I eat. And my food is limited to seafood (no shrimp), eggs & soft cheeses. I have eaten tuna, string cheese & half boiled egg (all 1 ounce or less) but I don’t get a sensation of feeling full or no signs of “ok that’s enough”. is this because I am eating so little? Will that sensation come as I am allowed to eat a variety of food, etc.? My NUT didn’t really say anything about feeling full but just to eat an ounce at a time. I see so many people beginning their food and they are unable to finish because they feel full. And I don’t feel hungry either which is good So I guess I am just wanting to know when the restriction will come.
  12. Everyone’s body is different & heals differently. We are technically still healing at 6 weeks out. Try not to worry too much, some people lose slower than others and that is ok. Maybe increase distance if your walks and try to drink more water and make sure you’re reaching your protein goals

    Suntan & Pool

As long as your incisions are healed and there aren’t any open wounds, according to my doc. He said that’s usually around 2 weeks post op. I say go for it if you’re all healed. I can’t wait to go swimming but we have been having some crazy rain here
  14. Ok excellent! I was so worried. It does make sense as well. Thanks!

    Stocking up

Yea deinfintely don’t stock up. I did and now I have a fridge full of jello, string cheese and protein that I need to give away. Dairy no longer agrees with me & I have no desire to eat jello. I did stock up on broth but I can use that to cook with so it’s not that bad lol

    Weird question...

The reason your medical documentation states “morbidly obese due to excessive caloric intake” is because of the billing codes that are necessary for insurance purposes. I wouldn’t worry about that. And healthcare professionals have to use medical terminology. I do it all the time in my line of work. Of course we know we are fat/obese. It never bothered me. But in my life I never experienced much name calling. I guess I was lucky.
  17. I gained 10 lbs. from being in the hospital & it took 5 days for that to come off. The weight loss will come. Just keep drinking and walking. Don’t worry about the weight falling off quickly just yet

    skipped purée stage

I would only do what your team tells you to do; transition when they say so.

    Belly Binder...needed or naw

    I didn’t need one

    Feel like I’m failing

Most likely you have no restriction because you are eating things you shouldn’t be. I would start with doing liquids for like a week, then start eating again with better choices: protein first, low carb and try to eliminate sugar. If you do that for a while and nothing changes, I would see your nutritionist/surgeon again
  21. I had 1 ounce of tuna. Had 3 week liquid diet post op & then transitioned to soft foods; no puréed stage nor full liquids

    Food Funerals?

I was before my pre-op diet began but i didn’t go crazy with my food funeral as I thought I would lol. I just had Outback (entree/dessert) & the night before my pre-op I had McDonald’s which I thought I wanted but it was gross lol. every person is different post op and everyone doesn’t eat the same (I am learning). It is important to stray away from your diet plan initially. I don’t miss the bad things I had before but I do find myself on Pinterest and Instagram looking at foods I can eat/prepare that are healthier for me. My dietician also states that when in maintenance mode, I could attempt certain foods (like French fries & some bread) but in moderation. I think a lot of people (including myself) fear dumping syndrome but I also welcome it because temptation is hard but I want to succeed with the surgery and i feel like dumping is a pat on the butt saying get yourself back on track. But hang in there. You may never know, you may not even crave these things after surgery and down the road.
  23. For me it was a tie between being able to sleep comfortably the first week post op & the pre-op liquid diet. So glad that is all behind me. I am sure as I continue this journey I will have more challenges but I am only 3 weeks post-op
  24. I feel like TSA is extremely backwards and odd. I have taken half eaten chipotle through security and have been fine and get my sister went through with baby formula (powder) and she got the questions lol
