Yes. But the swallow test was like one swallow. They do it to make sure you don’t have a leak. You can do it!!

Wow! I was still on mostly purée. chicken can still be hard. I was allowed tiny bits of soft flaky fish. Like see bass or crab..... my dr was like liquids for a month: puréed for month 2: soft food month 3. Then tiny tiny bits for month 4. Can take 6 months for tummy to heal completely.

You are two weeks out. You shouldn’t be eating anything. You should be having liquids and Protein Shakes. You aren’t ready for food. It gets better. I’m 5 months out and I can now comfortably eat tiny amounts of food. I’ve lost 72 lbs. it’s tough at first but you’ll lose weight and be healthier and feel sooo much better! Hang in there! And stop eating! Drink drink and drink!

I had a BMI if 35 plus diabetes. Without a co morbidity you need a BMI of 40. Just try regular diet. This weight loss surgery is tough. I would only do it if I needed it.

Even if you are an atheist prayers can be good thoughts. Nothing wrong with good thoughts right??

I had surgery in Naples/Ft Myers area in March with dr Denk. I love him. I haven’t heard of a support group but I’d love to hear of one. I’m a lapband to gastric bypass patient.

My doc gave me a rousing yes. He doesn’t believe in the air thing and totally thinks it’s fine to use straws

My doctor said a week maybe two. It was fully four weeks before I could work. I’m an attorney and sit at a desk in my own home!!! I just couldn’t do it. I was very tired.

Hi Gaygirl. It can be scary. And truthfully when people ask you how you are they are expecting you to say fine. Unless you are in a forum like here. And really this surgery isn’t so bad!! It’s not so extreme. You can do it!!

Portion control
Well. Flaky fish came back; egg came back: salmon came back. Crab came back. Shrimp came back. Lobster came back. Little bits of chicken came back. I wanted something to eat.

I had a drain at home for a week. It did not hurt at all to come out. Very painless. And I was on no pain meds at all. Not even Tylenol.

You are FIVE days out. Of course you have pain and issues drinking. I could hardly swallow Water at first. It will get better. I promise. Slowly but it will improve. Just take small sips as much as you can of whatever liquid you can tolerate. Clear Liquids. Hang in there!!
