  1. That's awesome to skip the additional liquid phases!
  2. And you know what makes this pre-op liquid diet extra fun? A 5 day visit from your mother in law!
  3. I updated the member list to show my new surgery date. (Still have to do my signature). So @ElanBri we are tied together for real now!
  4. 3 weeks is a long time. I have just one week of pureed foods and then two weeks of soft foods.
  5. I will lose it if it happens again. All week long I've had these crazy anxiety dreams about surgery that won't stop. This extra day pretty much ensures they'll continue.
  6. And I love how the scheduler is like it's no big deal. B*** I just one more liquid diet added to my week! So then I tell my husband and this is the text I get back: "Do you need me to change my days off or can your mom take you home from the hospital?" GRRRR - You know what, I'll just take a damn Uber home. At least I know they'll be there for me!
  7. Well it happened to me. My surgeon called and said my surgery had to be bumped to the 14th instead of the 13th. Annoying.
  8. So over the last few days I've been feeling more and more comfortable with my surgery decision and felt like I might even tell people at work if/when the subject comes up. But this morning I heard all of my co-workers talking about different exercise programs and what nutrition programs they all follow, etc. The conversation was so negative and catty I could barely stand to listen to it. These are clearly not the people I want to bare my soul to.
  9. Me please!! Let me know if you need help! Of course you - We'll be connected on every form of social media there is!! lol Come join me: http://bariatricsupport.proboards.com/

  11. Holy Christ. I've been with my current work team for over a year. There is never any community food around, no catered meetings, no potlucks, etc. But today of all days, somebody decided to order a ton of cinnamon rolls. They sat in a co-worker's cube a few rows away. But just now, she walked right into my cube with the box and put it in front of my face and asked if I wanted one! UGH!!!!!!!!!
  12. This is the site - http://bariatricsupport.proboards.com
  13. I just noticed we now have over 100 pages of members, support, funny stories, and real world experiences. I love it! Although the functionality of this board, and it's ridiculous rules drive me crazy. I'm seriously considering starting my own board. I've even started setting it up as a way to keep busy. If anyone is used to typical message boards you get why the limitations of this site are irritating. So if anyone wants to be part of the trial group on another site just let me know. Maybe it will take off, maybe it will just be a hobby of mine.

  15. So I'm about halfway through my first day of my pre-op diet. Honestly it hasn't been that bad. But I've disciplined myself to sip my protein shake over the course of 2 hours so I don't have too many hunger pains. I'm starting with the Premier Protein shakes but I find them REALLY sweet. I've been drinking water after each sip to wash out the taste. I brought some of my regular protein powder with me to mix it up so I'll have those this afternoon. I'll tell you what has really helped is knowing that I'll be out of work for two weeks so this week is all about catching up on work and getting things taken care of. Being busy and under my own pressure certainly helps the time fly and I don't think about food that much.
  16. I'm sure the recommendation to wait is just like exercise, to allow a full recovery and prevent a hernia. However, I imagine the time period in the real world is different for everyone. Being overweight has definitely impacted my libido so 4 weeks is probably a shorter period than what our current rotation is. lol Hoping this surgery helps me get back on track.
  17. I'm using this weekend to slowly slide into my pre-op diet. So I weighed this morning to get my official starting weight. My OCD side is loving the perfectness of this number.

    Self pay

Here in Denver my cost is $12,150. I had to pay $7,800 to the hospital and $4,350 to my surgeon. My advice - ask lots of questions about payment options. I only had enough cash for a part of my surgery but had care credit available from a previous procedure. My surgeon didn’t have any info on his website about payment/financing so when I brought up Care Credit he offered to set up an account so I could finance his cost. The hospital doesn’t do any type of financing but they have a lot of self pay patients so they said they could even allow patients to spread the cost across multiple credit cards if needed. Lol And of course all fees had to be paid prior to surgery. I did one psych evaluation, 1 nutritionist appt, and 3 classes about the process/diet. I had to give some blood, get a 5 min EKG, and pee in a cup. No scope, no sleep study, no bacteria test, and no requirement to lose weight before surgery.
  19. Very odd as the pic has the wording on it. Both on the site and through the app I’m looking at.
  20. July has been our biggest month yet with 38 members completing their surgeries. 21. @newmebithebypass - I think the overall stress and pressure of this entire process gets to everyone. I didn't even have to do that much in my process but the anxiety over the cost and thinking about the post-op experience certainly got the better of me. And I've already warned my family that I just might be a royal PITA after surgery when all I'm doing is drinking and eating mush. lol
