  1. The main reason for puree is so you do not rupture the staple line in your new stomach. It's also to ensure your body can tolerate those foods before moving on to solids. If you're asking if your teeth can do the same job as a blender with sharp blades...no, no it can't. Puree means pulverized. No chunks, not even a little bit. Think baby food or applesauce consistency. Eating solid foods at this stage can not only rupture your staple line, but it can get stuck in your new tummy and cause extreme pain and nausea. Remember, you don't have a smaller stomach. You have a new stomach. It needs training to be fully functional.
  2. Graduated from broth to creamy soup today. The world is amazing now. Feel so good to have something with a bit of texture and more flavor.
  3. I have been dreaming of avocados. I can't wait to be able to make guac. Here is the idea I had. You know that recipe going around Keto groups where you make pizza crust out of ground chicken? I was going to make that and cut it up into pieces and use that as chips in the guac!
  4. You know what is pissing me off? My phone ringing off the hook! The pharmacy calling to check on me, the nurse calling to check on me, my insurance company calling me (WTF ?!- I'm self pay!), my leave of absence company calling to confirm dates, the pharmacy calling again to thank me for my business. All of this in ONE day. Can a person not just recover in peace?!
  5. I was told that anything I took had to be small enough to fit both ways through a straw, otherwise they need to be crushed. If I cut them into quarters to swallow, I had to spread it out over the course of four “sips”. (I was on a plan of 1 ounce every 15 minutes my first couple days home) This is what I was doing in the hospital and the easiest way to get them down. I think I'm going to have to continue and see how it goes. I just cannot crush them anymore. I wish they made my meds in a liquid form - that would be so much easier!!
  6. Oh man, I'm sorry to hear that. Do they think you might be dehydrated?
  7. I feel so good today because I crashed hard yesterday! Pain meds gave me a solid two hour nap and then I fell asleep easily at 8:30 and didn’t wake until 6:30. It’s amazing what a good nights rest can do.
  8. Question for you all. In the first two weeks post surgery, did anyone not crush up their pills? I have both the hospital meds and my own personal meds to take. Crushing them up without food is absolutely disgusting. I cut them up into tiny pieces in the hospital and swallow them with no problem but the nurse said I may not absorb those as well. I definitely need to absorb my seizure meds as well as possible.
  9. It’s official - I’m here! Surgery went well yesterday. Finally out of the groggy feeling and trying to mange my pain. Glad to be on the other side!
  10. Yay for being done! Sorry you’re having issues. Hopefully the staff can you back to feeling better.
  11. Well at least I know I’ll get some rest when I go home. Drowsy for days...lol
  12. So glad. I was elated when I realized I had woken up and made through ok.
  13. Hey all. Had surgery early this morning. Now in my room having “lunch”. Only pain is the gas pressure in my belly. But I am so groggy and tired. Hoping my jello will wake me up. Lol
  14. Ha - I have to check in at 5:30 am! UGH My surgery is at 7:30.
  15. Woo Hoo Ladies - I'm nearly 12 hours away from my surgery. I have to check in at 5:30am so I'm going to go to bed as early as possible tonight. I did one final kickboxing workout this morning so hoping that will help put me to sleep later on. I've been wrapping up all sorts of errands to get things done before my surgery. Grocery shopping and meal planning for the family is done. Did a bunch of laundry and left some instructions for the hubby. I'm so grateful that I can afford someone to clean my house and they'll be coming while I'm in the hospital so I get to come to a completely clean and clutter free home. Ready to go!!!
  16. I know they are fabulous but this isn’t a thread about whether I should buy one or not. The question is how well do bariatric patients do with eating food from an Air Fryer? What’s your experience? Every non-bariatric person I know loves theirs. But I’ve seen several articles lately discussing how the end product is not good for those that have had WLS as the food isn’t as tender or smooth as it should be. Most articles referred to items with crunchy outsides. So, thoughts?

  18. I’m getting ready. Off work now so doing some “meal” planning and taking care of stuff around the house so I don’t have to worry about that later. What about you?
  19. So I'm on day 4 of my pre-op diet, protein shakes only. Just today I've started getting muscle spasms...but it's in the weirdest place. It's in my right hand between my thumb and index finger. It makes my index finger involuntarily move. It's weird. Not concerning, just funny.

    Catheter duting surgery

My surgeon said no catheter, they just have me pee several times before surgery.
  21. Well I WAS going to be the 13th, but I got bumped to the 14th.
  22. And while I'm on a rant let me just say men are so flipping dense sometimes. I blasted my husband again this morning because of his BS 'I might not be able to take you home for the hospital' statement. He apologized and said he would talk to his boss. That was at 9am this morning. I don't hear from him ALL day...except just now at 4pm he leaves me a voicemail about some inane stuff and then says "Hope you had a good day" Ummm...I would have had a good day if you had given me ANY indication that you were actually going to step up and be there for me in my time of need. UGH!!!
  23. I can see that. I'm sure you'll be fine if it's doctor ordered! I'd like to go straight to the mashed potato and gravy stage.
