  1. I have always had insomnia and done several over the counter meds but as soon as my body builds up a tolerance they no longer work. A few years ago my doctor prescribed Trazadone. It's a sedative so doesn't come with all the scary side effects that some true sleeping meds have, but it puts me to sleep within 15 minutes and I sleep all night long. It worked wonders before surgery and now post-op it works even better. Pair that with eating better and working out more gives me the sleep I need and the energy I need during the day.
  2. This is the same for me. My nutritionist told me that she had just learned that you can drink right before eating, it's the afterwards where you have to wait so that you aren't automatically flushing out the food you just ate. I wait 30 minutes after eating, but I do have a sip or two while eating if I get something spicy or need to wash out an after taste from my meal.
  3. Sometimes this can be caused by the anesthesia working its way out of your system. It stays in you longer than you think it would. I got pain in my shoulders and chest due to it.
  4. 96lbs down in 1 year is amazing process. As my nutritionist says, your progress wouldn't have happened without your hard work!
  5. You look awesome, and look at you posting in a sports bra - that's confidence!
  6. Chiming in here for anyone else considering surgery that will read this. The "restrictions" you have after surgery is because you should have a new life perspective and new healthy habits. You should be eating differently for the most part, you should be drinking more water than maybe you weren't used to, you should be taking vitamins. (and multi-vitamins exist, no one should be taking 12 different pills!) You should be living your life in the best way possible! Eat what you want, do it in moderation, work it off if you can. As with anything in life, nothing major should be entered into without research - that is 100x true when it comes to your health!!
  7. Your smile shows just how happy you are with your progress!!
  8. First - you look awesome! You're absolutely welcome to jump in now!! I had my surgery 8/14/18 - we're surgery twins! Our original thread was all about post-op stuff, but we did also have a post-op thread. I'll see if I can find that and post the link here. Might have good info in it for people, but it isn't very active with posts any longer.
  9. Thought of one more thing. I did buy chewable vitamins and blended them up with a protein smoothie (with fruit otherwise it was gross). This helped get the vitamins in and didn't cause my stomach any issues since it was taken with food.
  10. You look awesome! I hope you are wearing that shirt as a dress, it's so cute!!!

Weight lost stall after 9 months

I hit a stall at 9 months too and I'm still in it. I know eventually things will move along again, but I'm frustrated that I'm only 15lbs away from losing 100lbs and I just want to get there!! lol
  12. I bought WAY too much food because I did not have a grasp yet on just how little I would be eating post-op. I would recommend buying what you think will last you for one week and then use that as a gauge for going forward. Sugar free popsicles were the bomb. Buy little 1 or 2 oz plastic cups and make your own jell-o cups. You can also buy the unflavored protein powder from this site and mix it in for protein jell-o! (And mix it in to everything you eat to hit your protein goal) If you don't have it already, a heating pad, robe, fuzzy socks, good blanket. I was freezing afterwards from all the blood thinner they put in my system. I took my unicorn hot water bottle and my unicorn stuffed animal to the hospital with me for comfort. The nurses thought it was hilarious, I loved it. I bought smaller plates but I thought they were a waste of money. Your new stomach will now control your portions, not your eyes. So a big plate is just fine. I did buy baby spoons to help eat slower, those were really helpful.

  14. Yes, but also when I eat too fast. I am working on finding a different clue to stop before I get to the hiccup stage.
  15. I would love to make some surgery buddies now so we can go through all the pre-op requirements together and stick through surgery and beyond. Anyone else already know their surgery will occur this summer? My surgery is going to fall in the July or August time frame. Most of this is dependent upon checking all my surgeon's boxes, the rest is dependent upon my financing since I'm self-pay. I'll be getting the sleeve. I love my surgeon and feel really lucky to have found him. So far the pre-op stuff has gone smoothly, but I am just at the beginning stages. I've scheduled all my evals and classes and attended my first weight loss class last week. I found it to be mildly helpful. It was certainly geared more toward those that hadn't already read through the surgery binder and/or those that had no clue what healthy eating consisted of. I'm hoping future classes focus more on the post-op eating. My first visit with my PCP about this surgery is next week as that's the soonest I could get in to see her. I'm hoping she'll be supportive as my surgeon knew of her when I told him that's who I see. But if I have to find another PCP so be it. My first dietician appt is next week and psych eval is the week after that. I only have to get these three meetings out of the way to schedule my surgery. So I'm anxious to get that done! I'm excited to hear from others along the same timeline as me!
  16. I ran across some super cute swimsuits yesterday. They didn’t have any in my current size but since they are on sale I’m considering buying one in a size I think might fit me next summer. Anyone else bought clothing that you’re hoping will fit as you work towards your goal?
  17. Can you believe our Summer has come to an end?? This has been so much fun making friends, cheering everyone on, and watching all the progress! Here is our September Golden Key winners! @Frustr8, @Jingle123423, @karyn2018, @roseinnj, @Lisam72, @richiewho, @Svdlux23, @Natalie B, @KatallacStrong, @Suesloosinit, @Laura7, @MargoCL
  18. ooh I do love spinach and strawberries! I like to add feta to mine. I haven't thought about that in awhile, thanks for the reminder!
  19. I saw that, but my desire is to actually eat them vs just getting them in by way of a smoothie. You know? I want to see it on my plate, enjoy it with my eyes, feel the texture in my mouth, etc. lol I want to chew!
  20. Awesome weight loss! I love that you singled out strawberries. I'm going to do that too. My favorite fruit is raspberries so I could probably fit a few in over the course of a day! I am so seriously missing salad though. I can't wait until I can dig into a giant bowl of hard veggies. I had the teeniest tiniest salad the other night to test how my stomach would do with lettuce. I chopped it up into tiny bits and it was so good. Just need to experiment with other veggies too. I did make a bolognese sauce the other night which was nice since it has hidden veggies in it and that went down perfectly.
  21. HEY EVERYONE! Just wanted to let you know that even though I haven't popped in much, I am still following along and the final Summer Golden Key Awards will be posted in a few days. These will encompass anyone currently on the member list that had surgery in September AND anyone that has had surgery this summer but just recently joined this group. So if your name isn't on the list - go add it now, or message me! >>>>> MEMBER LIST
  22. Finally have a break from work being so crazy so popping in to see what's up. I've been trying to read through all the old posts. Good to see everyone doing so well, even with all the bumps, stalls, and whatnot that can occur. I just passed my 6 week mark which allowed me to get back to full blown exercise. I went back to my boxing gym for the first time in 8 weeks and it felt amazing! I need to get my trainer to get a pic of me to share. I bought my hubby and I Apple Watches to celebrate my new journey and it's amazing how much more engaged I am with activity than I was when I just had my fitbit. I've had two perfect weeks so far. And because I am a gluten for punishment I've also been thinking about dusting off my T25 DVDs. I need more Shaun T in my life!! Now that I'm on real food I find myself struggling to eat well rounded meals. I'm good on protein...I have protein for days. But trying to also fit veggies in has been hard. I'm still averaging about 3oz total of food per meal so it's finding that balance of having the right amount of protein at each meal so I hit my goals, but also not so much protein that I can't also have a measly green bean. lol I actually have a follow up with my nutritionist today so I'll be asking her for some pointers. So, what's up with everyone else?
