Hey Everyone! I just found out today that I'm going to be banded on July 11th, and wanted to share the great news!I have still got to loose 10 more pounds by then, though! It's so hard, because I feel like I just want to gobble up everything in sight, like I'll never eat the way I love to again! Does anyone else kind of feel like that?!?!

Covered/Uncovered Out of Pocket!
It was implied that if I complain of back pain from my breasts drooping, that a lift could be covered. If I complain of rashes or skin breakdown under my belly skin, then that would be covered, too. I heard a girl once say that if you just don't dry under your belly after your shower, you'll get a minor rash, which would be enough for photo documentation. Honest approach? Definately not. Will I do it? Probally!

Covered/Uncovered Out of Pocket!
Hey all! My surgeon told me what I have to say to him in Apts. to get my breast lift and excess belly skin removal covered by insurance. If both of those are covered, but I wanted to add in a tummy tuck and a breast augmentation, does anyone know about how much that would be out-of-pocket????

Stretch Marks
Bio oil is about $12 at Walgreens here in Boston! I bet you could find it cheaper at Walmart or Target!
-
PS/stretch mark Question!
I feel like a dummy asking this, but I have to know! When you get your tummy done, do they take off the skin with stretch marks? Everyone's after pics seem unbelievably smooth, and I didn't know if maybe they didn't have stretch marks there to begin with?!

Spouses?
My fiance was just asking me about that! He really wants a place to discuss his fears/hopes/questions with others! Does such a place already exist???

First Appointment with the Surgeon!
I had my first appointment with Dr. Robinson and his Assistant on Monday, and I am shocked! This process seems like it is going to fly by! Here's how it went: I was scheduled for 2:30 but got there at 2:00, so they sat me down with paperwork to fill out. It included all the expected questions, including lists of failed diets, weights throughout your life, co-morbidities,etc. It took about ten minutes, and then they took me in early. The Physician's Assistant (to be called P.A. from the point on) took my blood pressure with a cuff that actually fits me, and it turns out my blood pressure is pretty darn good for a 300 lb. girl! 126/74. They weighed and measured me. We discussed the potential risks of banding, why I wanted the band vs. bypass, etc. It was all pretty straight forward. Then doctor Robinson came in. Dr. Robinson is a man of very few words, but I am not going to him for emotional support. I am seeking him because he seems intelligent, honest and open. He told me right off the bat that I am going to need a boob lift and lower body life after surgery. He also implied that if I mention later on down the road that my boobs sagging cause back pain, and the if I start getting rashes under my extra skin, that I will be able to get both procedures covered by insurance. He then laid me down on the table, looked at my belly, and told me to loose 20-25 lbs. beore surgery. He told me he wants to see me in four weeks for a follow up. If, at that 4 week followup, I have lost 10 lbs, then he will schedule me for surgery. I was told that we're looking at the first week of August, possibly!!!! I left with a to-do list that states which tests I have to have done, which medical records to have transferred, and how to pay the program fee. I have to get an upper GI, see the nutritionist and the psychologist, have a sleep study and have some blood drawn. All of those except for the sleep study can be done on the same day, I was told! Now I am just sitting here at home, waiting for the phone to ring with my appointment dates from his secretary. I am SO ready to go!!!!! Tomorrow is the lap band support group, and I am really debating going!

Question for CNA's/RN's
Thank you so much for the advice, Ladies! I really do appreciate it!

Outfits as goals
Congratulations on your NSV! You must be so proud of yourself!!! It never occurred to me to use clothing as a motivator, but that IS what gets my butt up and moving! Thanks for the tip!

Question for CNA's/RN's
Hello! I'm a new CNA on a super busy oncology/overflow med-surg floor. Considering the physical requirements of my job, I'm wondering if I might need to take 2 weeks off instead of 1 after being banded. How long did you take off of work before you felt fit to transfer/reposition/boost patients? Thanks in advance for any feedback, bandsters! :blushing:

Things I won't/don't miss about being Obese
1.White plastic lawn chairs 2.disrespect in Sephora and Nordstrom 3.Fearing my fat butt will make the bathtub fall through the floor 4.not being able to dance the night way on girls night 5.Lane Bryant's bad selection, prices, and styles (I will miss their fabulous strapless bras that actually work, though!) 6.Seatbelt extenders 7.Hitting up fab sales knowing they don't carry my size or anything remotely close to my size 8.practically holding my breath on the subway and train with my arms struggling to remain in my lap so the person next to me can have their entire seat9!!!!) 9.Bathing suits with skirts attached in big ugly prints!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 10.Feeling apologetic for my presence!

Oh Please, Oh Please!
hahaha! I thought I was the only one with the shower - falling - through - the - floor fear!!! I would rather DIE than have the paramedics find me fat and naked on the basement floor!!!!! I'm glad we're all in this together!
