  1. We make a million variations of this! My boys love tossing stuff into the food processor and pushing the bottons! The reusable popsicle molds are easy to use. Vanilla Greek yogurt, peanut butter (can use the powder), and banna is a favorite. Add in oats sometimes too!
  2. I had surgery almost 2 weeks ago and there is a noticeable difference in my skin and hair. So Dry! Nails also and let's not talk about my alligator feet! (pedicure tomorrow) I am using more lotion, but just applying to the outside isn't the same! I am wondering if it is the hormone shift, same thing happened when I was pregnant. Could it be the hormones? Is it bc there are no healthy fats in my diet? Has this happened to anyone else? What did you do? Did it get better?

    Dry skin and hair

I bought some bio-oil and it has helped Thanks all!
  4. Yikes! Carbs are a hot debate. Yes, I specifically asked Creekimp and Jess bc I know that they both have had different journeys to the same place -SUCCESS! I am trying to figure out the best diet plan so I can get to the same place. I love all of the food suggestions Jess made, just not feeling full eating only protien (yes on PPI) and trying to figure out what to add in. For right now I think I will add veggies and plant based protien to increase my fiber and nutrients with out adding too many carbs, YET. I love carbs and will have to add more complex carbs later. That is why I asked Creekimp bc I know she uses carbs the right way to still lose weight. Calm down everyone, we all find our own way 😁
  5. Jess9395 and Creekimp13: When did you add carbs post-op? Was it a gradual thing according to meeting your goals? Or were healthy carbs always part of it? I am 2.5 weeks post-op and struggling to feel full with liquids and protien. Had a plain veggie burger yesterday, 5g of protien and 25% of daily fiber. It was amazing! Finally felt full for a long time.
  6. There isn't much as far as research (I mean GOOD research) done on collagen supplementation. There was 1 study on a small group of women who just delivered babies and collagen improved belly skin on them. But does that research translate to WLS surgery patients? Dunno I take collagen though, can't hurt. I do know that the capsules do not have enough collagen in them to make a difference. Do powder instead, but DO NOT count the collagen protien as part of your daily protien count. It is not complete enough for that. You need to meet your protien goals elsewhere. The powder mixes best in hot liquids. I do it in coffee and tea

    Depakote and Gastric Sleeve

RN not patient, but depakote comes in liquid and sprinkle caps. The sprinkle caps are capsules that can be opened and put into applesauce/pudding to take. I don't remember all of the doses available, but you should be able to find the right combo to add up to your dose. Nothing about this process is easy. Keep asking questions here and of your surgical team. Your surgeon may have already dealt with this issue.
  8. Was body surface area a factor in thier research? 😉 Big people have more skin to grow cancer on. Weight loss surgery = less skin/surface area . . . . . .

    A little piece of heaven

Yay! It only gets better from here! Until you have a stall, then it's back on the emotional roller coaster ride that is weight loss surgery (for reference see all the posts on stalls). 🤗 Welcome to the losers bench!

Face to Face Friday a little early

OMG! I love this thread! Makes me so hopeful. I am on the losers bench, but don't look a ton different yet. (Sleeved 5/9) SleevinIL: You look great! That's a big loss! AshAsh1: You get cuter every pic I see! Tealael: Check out those cheekbones! Love the pics guys! So excited to post mine eventually. . . . .
  11. I use Baritastic too You don't have to make it complicated and use every feature of the app. Just use what works for you. I like having my weight and measurements tracked for me. Nice to watch the inches disappear even if the pounds aren't. Adding water is super easy (And a cool graphic). I only track my protien, not every single bite.

    Week 2 no weight loss?!

I'm in the same boat! Sleeved 5/9 I lost 2 pounds a day for first 7 days, then nothing for the last week. Hanging in there, but it's frustrating. I was hoping for a little bit more at the beginning to keep me motivated.

    Sex

***also graphic post*** Don't put coconut oil in your vagina. It will through off your pH balance. I vote a trip to the adult store. There are specific clitoral stimulating creams and arousal gels. Maybe a toy or 2? And definately cute lingerie. Get adventurous and explore your new body. I'm sure your husband won't mind a little trial and error to see what works for you. Often the staff at adult stores can be very helpful and lots of products are available in sample sizes. pm me if you want any specific recommendations 😉 most stuff is available at cheaplubes.com
  14. Do you have a clotting disorder or a history of blood clots? It shouldn't be necessary unless you do. You can always go to a pharmacy or nurse uniform store and by knee-high compression stockings for under $20.

    Dry skin and hair

I have coconut oil, I will try that too. My hands look like crepe paper and kinda like my mom's hands. That is why I am freaking out. Dry is one thing, turning into my mom is a whole nother type of scary. So disturbing to look down and see my mom's hands! I can't be that old! It has to just be the dryness right? I'm not really turning into my mom. Will coconut oil and bio-oil prevent me from being impatient and bitchy too?

    Stopping weight loss

Hmm. . . . Might have to just binge watch Netflix and eat pizza for a weekend. That'll stop your weight loss!😄

    Super slow weight loss

Those are great numbers, way to go! Onederland here you come! I can only hope to be so successful, just had surgery and it is hard to be patient. Kinda wish they could do Lipo at the same time for a little jump start! 😄

    Stopping weight loss

What about increasing healthy fats? Especially if you are already having carbs. But way to go!
  20. Esophagus is highly vascular and heals quickly. Your surgeon did a good job getting a specialist and checking everything right away. Important to control your nausea as you progress to PO intake. You do not want to throw up bc it can cause stress on the perforation.

Almost 6 months post VSG (pics)

You look amazing! Not the same person! Hope you feel great too! Onederland here you come!

    Almost 1 month out

Less than 1 month, way to go! Thank you for posting. I just had surgery and it makes me feel like the stupid liquid diet and fighting head hunger/cravings will all be worth it very soon. So encouraging! Thank you!

Medical and phase 2 food options

You don't need a medical alert band. I am an ICU nurse. First responders do not place NG tubes, I do after pts are already in the ICU and by then I usually know the pts medical history (unless they were found down somewhere, don't do drugs 🤕) NSAIDS are almost never used in the hospital and absolutely never used by first responders. Don't waste your money, unless you can find a cute one!

    Holy shit...what do i do?

I am sorry you have to deal with this. The other advice is Good, but from what you said this person is not that respectful. You should still tell her to mind her business. Don't be ashamed that you took control of your life and health. Haters gonna hate. Just keep being your beautiful self.

41.5 BMI but no health problems.....

No health problems for me either, just fat. Why wait for health problems? Why waste time being big? I felt bad for some of the people that were going through the process the same time as me (people I met at the surgeon's office). Thier health problems made everything more difficult.
