canceled surgery 3 times
Kahkeetsee replied to connie123lok's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree. I cancelled mine 4 years ago. I'm 55 now and think of all of the years I've been so heavy and in pain. SO wish I could have done this at your age. Sent from my SM-J700T using BariatricPal mobile app -

Favorite things you can do now that you couldn't before, or things you're looking forward to doing?
Kahkeetsee replied to GeekSweetheart's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Being able to walk around when traveling is high on my list. 3 years ago I almost passed out in front of Buckingham Palace when I walked there from the bus stop. Last year when I went, I only went places accessible by the scooters I could rent on the high street. I'm 55 and have been told I don't look my age, but no hot guy is going to approach someone on a scooter, and I would really like to date while in the UK. I have heard it said that smoking is THE hardest habit to break, so I sympathize. I also learned in medical school that stopping smoking alone will cut the risk of heart attack more than the next three actions (diet, exercise, etc) combined. Try the medication to lessen your cravings and treat it like wanting foods not good for you: thinking, is this worth what comes later? Messing up my baby stomach would scare the hell out of me personally. Sent from my SM-J700T using BariatricPal mobile app

Serious Overeating & Binging Problems Post Op
Kahkeetsee replied to sleeveduk96's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sleeveduk96, it's hard to change but you have to be kind to yourself. Turn your back on previous poor eating days and start fresh. I have often eaten out of boredom and stress, so this has been difficult for me (just the eating plan prior to surgery), so hoping to feel "full" after surgery. I feel you on the Nando's though...I hit that every time I'm in the UK. Sent from my SM-J700T using BariatricPal mobile app -
Need to vent -- post op sleeve
Kahkeetsee replied to Catden's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
As a nurse for 30 years, I can tell you that not all healthcare professionals have the best bedside manner. During my clinical, while observing a surgeon doing a nose job, he pointed to my nose and said "I can fix that". I hadn't asked BTW. Also had another doctor whom I asked about excess facial hair tell me I should have picked my ancestors better. WTH!? Also, spent 2 years after getting a degree in medical school (unfinished due to divorce) and as a 42 year old student in a class of 20 something's, I can tell you that brilliance doesn't equal compassionate. It isn't an age thing by any means, but some have a god complex, some are socially awkward, and some just don't care. I think that is why the forums are such a good thing. As long as your team is competent, and since your surgery is already done, just ignore comments that make you feel bad. Also keep in mind, if training residents, a doctor may say things that sound insulting, but may be a teaching point. Cheers! Sent from my SM-J700T using BariatricPal mobile app -

Scared about being big and having surgery
Kahkeetsee replied to Sunshineprincess's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 55 and got up to 411. Now at 360, and hoping for surgery in May. It's always scary. I worked as a nurse for 30 years and it doesn't help me a bit. You'll do fine. You sound determined and focused. You go!! Sent from my SM-J700T using BariatricPal mobile app -

Can a Fundapilcation surgery be performed after you've had a gastric sleeve done.
Kahkeetsee replied to Jazzy Lady 55's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
As a former pedi nurse, I only know fundiplications for kiddos with reflux. Is the purpose the same for VSGers? Sent from my SM-J700T using BariatricPal mobile app -

Kahkeetsee replied to ancirasd's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I like traveling and have been to the UK 3 times in the last 3 years, to Niagra, Cali, etc. I want to get back into creative things after 3 decades of doing only Mom things. Sent from my SM-J700T using BariatricPal mobile app -

My program gave me info for a therapist, whim I saw a couple of weeks ago. She was very aware of the process, and obviously used to their procedures. I'm not expecting any problems. Sent from my SM-J700T using BariatricPal mobile app -

Kahkeetsee replied to erika702's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums

Massive gut not shrinking
Kahkeetsee replied to Walter.Sobchak's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I tend lose first in my upper abdomen. The bottom half is already a hanging mess so will likely only get flatter over time. I have the turkey neck, arm wings, and the craziest back hips. They stick out so far I could balance a cup on them. It'd be cute if it were my butt, but I know from my mom, grandma and sister that I too, am a member of the flat ass club. Will be interesting to see how I look over time after my sleeve. Sent from my SM-J700T using BariatricPal mobile app -
