Definitely fingers crossed!! Im a side sleeper too. I’ve read on here that if you prop the pillows around you it helps. Most people said within 10 days they could side sleep with no problems. I’m hoping that’s the case for us too.
I lived y’all. I took every bit of their pain meds but I lived and was able to side sleep

I'd be soooo sad if they couldn't perform surgery because of my liver. I've been on the pre-op diet for 2 weeks out of 4 weeks. These next 14 days I'm going to give it my all
When is your surgery?
Tomorrow is the day of truth!

I'm still having jealousy issues of my coworkers enjoying their fully caffeinated afternoon coffee while I sip my Decaf (which I used to scoff at, because whats the point of decaf?). But food? Meh. Don't get me wrong, I love to cook. Making homemade Pasta was one of my favorite things to do with my kids. With the whole "Gluten sensitivity" I've got going on I've had to switch things up a bit. But when I'm emotional, or stressed, or upset... I make myself a cup of coffee. And if I'm feeling really peeved, I make myself a fancy coffee.
I completely understand. Much of my life has been made possible through coffee and this last week has been rough. I have. Shirt that says death before decaf yet decaf is better than tea I figure. My brother asked what I will try and have first and my instant reaction as coffee

I chose the bypass because I didn't want the heartburn that seems to impact a decent amount of people after the sleeve... plus, I have a lot to lose. I guess it's normal to be second guessing myself when it's starting to come down to surgery day... I'm just ready to be post op!
I couldn't choose because my heartburn now is so bad. The doc told me RNY was highest success rate and I was unlikely to have trouble with GERD anymore.
My preop diet it Optifast shakes 4 times a day with 2 cups of vegetables with one tbsp of very low calorie dressing. I have not done the best because Thursday was a long day and I got shaky so I snacked on some lunch meat and cheese (two pieces of each). I am super nervous that my liver isn't small enough but hopefully I did enough

Mine is going ok...I have a Wife and two boys. They are all skinny people who can always eat whatever they want! So being around them is kinda hard when they eat their meals. But my Wife has been very good at trying to keep food and smells away from me, so I’m not too tortured! HaHa!
The only thing Iv cheated with is Dill Pickles. But I asked my surgeon yesterday and he said Dill Pickles are fine! So I guess I’m not cheating. So every time I get a strong hunger I eat a pickle and it does the job for me.
My weight loss has been CRAZY!!! I was weighed in my doctors office last Monday and I weighed 475 lbs. I got weighed again yesterday in the same doctors office and weighed 439 lbs. Iv been drinking 4-5 Protein Shakes a day with two scoops of Protein. And Iv also been drinking a gallon of Water every day! But I still lift weights every day...So that’s probably the extra boost I’m getting in weight loss. Iv been so worried about losing muscle and strength after my surgery.
Mac that is weird I did the same thing! I figured I could eat a pickle and that was like cucumber ( which they said I was allowed) the strong taste as the took the cravings away and they are satisfyingly crunchy

Buh 2 more days. Now all I have to do is Clear Liquids for 2 days and my pre-op appt. I will tell you I am so nervous that I will wake up from the surgery only to find out they didn't do it... is anyone else having this issue? I am not afraid of the surgery I am just afraid of something going wrong and I have to start all over again

So Awhite and MAC you guys will be packing by the time I come out of surgery! SO close now
-
LOL they are ok but the Optifast makes my stomach upset so I have been trying to manage when I drink them. If I dont I have to get up in the middle of the night which is not my favorite

I didn’t realize I would have a tube down my throat and placed on a breathing machine, or a catheter and to make it better, the nurse told me once I’m in the OR both arms will be strapped down then I’ll be put out and then she tells me I will be prepped my gown will be removed and they will scrub from under my breasts to my knees. When I asked why my knees are be scrubbed in I was told that’s standard practice. Ugh, so just thought of me laying there naked and being scrubbed down by multiple people gives me anxiety. Then she also tells me there are 6 people total in the room. Makes me feel sick just thinking about I too. I’m sure somebody is going to say something rude while I am laying there naked, there are half a dozen people in there. I have to focus and remember I can can do this.
Teresa-
It is certainly undignified but remember- the woman who laid down for this surgery isn't the one who will wake up. I am on the 10th though I am having a lap band removed as well and all those things were done for my last surgery as well. Just remember they are doing everything for your safety so your recovery will be faster and with no problems. Only one more day until the new Teresa wakes up from surgery and her whole life changes!
Best of luck!
