i just had surgery at the end of january and will be getting my first fill tomorrow. i'm a little worried because two days after that i will be flying (on an airplane, i'm not that talented) to visit my brother. have any of you heard anything/experienced any issues with flying so soon after a fill? i'm also worried about too much restriction and then being out of town, but i also want to start loosing weight! i've been stuck for the last 3 weeks now, its almost like i haven't had the surgery...

i was banded on the 20th by Dr. Scott at UTSW in dallas (he did the "single incision surgery" thats new). i'm still pretty tired, and gassy too, but other than that things are going well. i'm looking forward to eating real food again soon, even if its only "soft foods".

i've heard several people mention it, but i'm not sure how common it is, thus the post. it seems most people have been told its a Protein thing (not eating enough of it), but i've also heard that it can be caused by hormonal changes from quick fat loss.

i'm starting to wonder about some (less important) logistics.
1) how long after the surgery did you have to wait to take a shower/bath?
2) how common is Hair loss? i'm planning on donating my long hair to locks of love, and i'm trying to decide if i should do that before surgery.
i'm sure i'll think of more later, but that's all for now.

Hi, I am a 26 year old who is in the process of getting approved for lap band. My mother struggled with her weight her whole life and finally had RNY gastric bypass, lost a lot of weight, and had to have plastic surgery to remove the extra skin and stuff. My questions are: 1) how common is this for people who have the band instead of bypass? and 2) if you have the surgery when you are younger, does your skin recover better. I guess I'm really trying to get at whether or not I'll need plastic surgery if I go ahead with this.
Thanks everyone!!

hi, i am also new! i am going to attend the info session at ut southwestern next week. we'll see how that goes and what i think then, but currently i would prefer to go with them. ut southwestern is not as highly publicized as places like "true results" (i saw them last week and was NOT impressed), but has a lot of talented doctors. its also close, and i suspect my insurance would prefer to work with them. i'm not sure yet which surgeon i will pick, assuming of course that my insurance approves me. i'd love to know how things go for you, and also what you think of your experience at ut southwestern. good luck!
I have ZERO restriction now...

thanks! i asked my doc about this yesterday and he didn't know of any problems with flights, but it didn't seem like it had ever occurred to him. he only put in 2cc's, so we'll see how this goes. so far, so good. although he "tested the system" first by injecting about 10cc's, and that was one of the oddest feelings i've ever had! hopefully i won't have any issues on my trip...
