    Hmmmm, Rules ...

I think fresh brewed green , white, herbal, etc without additives like milks (plant or animal) count as pure Water but black and pre packaged iced teas do not. They count towards other fluids, like coffee, hot cocoa, etc.

    45 oz pure water

    90 oz fluids minimum

    seem fair?

My Dr office considers black Decaf coffee with just sweetener or any decaf tea as part of my "clear" fluids. But if we want just Water I can do that for this challenge.

Your surgeon advised this? Flintstones Vitamins are **NOT** enough for WLS patients IE they don't contain enough of what WLS patients need after surgery.

The only time my Dr's office recommended "kid" Vitamins was when I couldn't stomach the ones I had while I was waiting for the new ones to come in. She said I could chew one of my son's flinstone vitamins to at least get something in me. But I couldn't depend on them for good. Like you said Matt, she said they didn't have enough to meet my requiremnts and they also contain more sugar.

Only add Water and weight then, we will likely keep the chatting here and complete the tracking at the very end

That's what I was planning to do. I started yesterday inputting on both apps and boy that was frustrating. I told the hubby I was doing this challenge and what I was doing with both apps, then I said maybe I'll just track Water and weight because by the time I logged in both places I was so flustered I wanted to throw my phone. (Anger issues)

  4. I had pain but I moved around a lot to get the gas moving and out. I am assuming you are on liquids which means you will have diarrhea. liquid in, liquid out. This horrible, I hate the decision I made, this isn't what I signed up for will pass. It might pass like a kidney stone, but it will pass. I had pains in places I never imagined could hurt. I've had a lot of abdominal surgeries from pregnancies and other crap so I kinda knew what it would feel like but this was different because of all the many holes I had. Did the Dr prescribe you any pain meds? I came home with liquid Tylenol because I'm a recovering addict. But the Tylenol really helped. It didn't take the pain completely away, but made it manageable. I also had a drainage bulb attached to me for an extra week and I know some Dr's take them out before you leave the hospital.

  5. I had the same issue and still do, but I found a multi with Iron and recommended dose of Calcium and all I have to take is an extra calcium a day and one extra B12 a week. Bari Life has a multi that you can put in Water like crystal lite and it is milky and looks nasty, but the lemon tastes like lemonade and the watermelon tastes like watermelon. I went on their website and asked for a free sample. My Dr office had another brand and mentioned this one but didn't have samples of the Bari Life. The other brand I tried tasted exactly how multi's smell with a hint of fruit. But I LOVE the Bari Life.

Me please! Can I only log Water in it for this challenge ? I’ve never used mfp and am comfortable with what I use for food .

    BOSTONWLKC is user name

    Thanks!

I'm the same. I have an app that I love that I use for my food, Water, weight loss, etc. But I downloaded the mfp again just for the challenge. I was going to switch, but I still like my other one

I had surgery 10/19/18 with a 1.5 year old and a 3 year old. The first few days they were away at my moms house and then they came home and my husband had 2 days off work. Tomorrow will be 6 days post op and I feel confident I can take care of them by myself tomorrow. My house looks like a disaster because I haven’t had time/energy to clean up but everyone is safe/healthy/and feed.

Congrats on your surgery and what is important is everyone is safe/healthy/ and fed.

  8. I have 2 boys that were 6 and 7 when I had my surgery in April. Yes, our kids need us and depend on us for life to life things, but if we don't get better we might not be here permanently. I told my boys exactly what I was doing and they went to my appt with me to see the surgeon. I call them my little ducks because they follow me everywhere. I homeschool and my boys are literally with me constantly. I wanted them to know mommy was getting healthy. They told me I didn't need surgery because I was beautiful the way I was. But I had to tell them that my heaviness is what makes me check my sugar and give myself insulin, etc. I was selfish to be unselfish. This isn't a cosmetic surgery, this is a surgery to help you change your life and become healthier for yourself and your babies.

  9. I have United Health Care and I had forgotten that my surgeon had submitted for my approval. I swear I think they took the full 15 days. I don't know how your dr office works, but mine knew already what I needed to be approved and we did all the requirements and made sure they were made to the insurance specs before submitting for approval.

  10. My surgeon automatically sent me home with a year refills on omeprazole. I don't even have to take it. I get acid reflux from time to time, but nothing like the times I was pregnant. I was so scared getting the sleeve because I had heard the reflux was worse. But so far, I'm doing good.

Good morning, I'm from Georgia and I had my sleeve done October 17th. So far I'm doing good, trying to get rid of a rash and starting to actually sip more Water than before.
    Congratulations on your surgery

Congrats starting yours. I love Georgia. That was where my Daddy was from. I've always wanted to live there. I stay getting rashes, but I thought it was just me.

I'm in month 5 of my 6 month "waiting period" before my surgeon submits my paperwork to insurance. I'm hopeful to have RNYGB in early 2019 if all goes well. I've heard that success is considered losing 50% of your excess weight. However, I am about 120 lbs overweight and would really like to lose 100 lbs or more. Am I dreaming? Or is that attainable? I am 5' 3" and weigh about 233. I exercise daily for a minimum of 30 minutes and have every intention of sticking with the exercise, Water, and nutrition plan. I just feel like I will be disappointed to only lose 60 lbs!

Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

I'm 5'2 and started at 234. I've lost 54ish pounds and my doctors goal weight for me is 140. That is still above normal by a little bit but he never gave me a goal in the beginning. It wasn't until my 6 month post op when he gave me his idea weight for me. So from beginning to finally reaching goal weight is losing 94 pounds. I've lost 57 percent of excess weight. The formula they gave me is pounds lost divided by pounds to lose X 100= percent lost.

Mine looks like this: 54/94(100)= 57%

I just use a square piece of parchment that fits in my micro turntable. And I know how hot my micro is. So I put them both on 30 seconds to start. Then do 10-15 second intervals til they "look right". Sometimes you just have to take them out of the micro and let them cool to know how crisp they will be until you learn your cheeses and how they act when you nuke them. I cut the provolone on 1 1/2s at the deli. :) You can also try that with the mozzarella from the deli (as slices). The advantage of shredded is that you don't use as much cheese per shell because they are "lacy" in nature.

I'm definitely trying these next time we have Taco Tuesday. At my house it could be tomorrow or Saturday and just like your blog, it's still Taco Tuesday.

  14. Anyone from the South or living in the South? How has your journey been so far and where are you at in your journey?

I am from Nashville, Tennessee and lived there most of my life. I live in Ashland City now and I"ve been here almost 4 years. I had my sleeve done in Nashville at Centennial on April 3rd of this year. So far, I have lost 45 pounds at my last appointment at the end of September. From my home scale, I have lost a total of 54 pounds.

The mozza shells are "tougher" but less crispy. The provolone slices were actually pretty outstanding all-around good. The cheddar are great, but you have to blot the hell out of them and they are very crispy and much more fragile. You could try having a combo of the shredded mozza and cheddar. I just got to where tostada shells worked better than taco shapes. More sturdy and less of a PIA.

So with the slices of cheese, do you cook them the same as the shredded cheese? And I can't remember how you shape them.

And you're in Tennessee, I looked because I wondered where they were allowing straws. Hey, isn't it true the original Maxwell House, the one the coffee is named after, located in Tennessee?

Yes, we have the Maxwell House, which is a hotel in North Nashville. They have a lot of conventions and high end dinners there. It's right beside on of our housing projects.
