  1. Part of my docs pre op was the day before was bowel day. I was only allowed Clear Liquids and I had to drink a bottle of magnesium citrate. I've been a roller coaster after surgery. I'm either having major diarrhea (mostly during liquid stage) to Constipation and having to take milk of magnesia. I stay with MOM in my house now. I've even tried adding daily Fiber but I have no luck

  2. My son is playing football and the season is almost over with only 2 games left, the playoffs and superbowl. And that is exactly what I do. I carry my 32oz infuser full going in and I have a whole case of Water I keep in the car at all times to add to it or add it to the cooler when walking in. I take a pouch or 2 of tuna if I get hungry and I've taken a Protein Shake that I had frozen turned slushie along with my water.

  3. I was wanting a daith so bad and my septum. I have pierced my septum twice myself but took it out for surgery. I'm getting a dermal this weekend. But as I mentioned earlier, I think I'm going to sweet talk the hubs into feeling its a reward for losing 50 then on the 8th I'll get a present too. LOL i'm usually not selfish. But what the hey

  4. Congrats on doing something that helps with your depression. My dogs add to my anxiety and stress because they are high maintenance. but my cats soothe me. But as far as getting her to potty when it's cold... First, what kind of dog is she? If she has short hair, you could get her a sweater for her to have for warmth. The type of dog she is also matters when it comes to ease of potty training. Some dogs are easier to train and others are not. Using a reward for her when she potties helps that positive reinforcement. After she does the deed outside, give a treat and tell her good girl. When we leave my dogs outside when we leave the house, as soon as we come home and let our dogs in, they run into the kitchen, sit down and look at me waiting for a treat.

  5. When I was having this issue, my nutritionist told me Water first, then Protein. As long as I was getting closer to my water goal they were happy. Yes, protein helps with healing ,but with dehydration, it makes stomaching things a little harder. After she told me that, it seemed that it was easier to reach both goals. Also with my Protein Drinks, I used water which went to my water intake. So in the beginning, I cheated by combining the 2, but it helped. Now, I have a 32oz Water Infuser that I keep by my side all day no matter where I go. Except to the bathroom, that's my break from what is making me go in the first place.

Clothes, jewelry, a night out dancing, a concert, tattoos, depends on what you enjoy.

My hubby and I go get new tattoos every year during tax time. I love needles and ink. I told him last night I had an idea for a tattoo that I want other than to finish filling in my right arm for my sleeve.

  7. That would scare the bejesus out of me. I'm terrified of heights. Maybe I should tell my husband that the piercing is for reaching onderland. Then I could get a bday present on top. lol I'm sure going to try

  8. My birthday is next month, and I had told myself and my hubby that if I did good from now until the 8th, I was going to reward myself with some "good" food. Well, I have not done good so I've grounded myself and said stick to the same foods.

When I started this topic earlier (then my computer lost what I had typed) I realized that I don't need to reward myself with food. After all, I got obese by comforting myself with food. That is like telling an addict "if you stay clean and sober a year, I'll give you some heroin." Well, I've decided instead, I'm going to get a piercing. I'm getting it this weekend because my hubby gets paid and the Tattoo studio is having a sale this month.

What kind of rewards do you give yourself?

  9. I scheduled my hysterectomy last year around the beginning of June for August 1st. My hubby had a quadruple bypass the end of june and I thought I was going to have to reschedule, but it worked out. During that time I was fighting my old doctors office for proof of visits to please my insurance company. I ended up getting a new Dr so I had to go to my 6 visits all over again. So that gave me 6 months to heal from the hysterectomy and to prepare for the wls. I know that everything happened in the time it was supposed to and not my time.

  10. I would think so too. Both are pretty invasive. I've had 3 C-sections and my gall bladder removed. The wls seemed more painful moving around but it was from all the gas inside me and the darn drainage bulb. Once it was out, it was easier to move around. Passing gas felt good once it was out, but trying to get it out hurt like the dickens. Now, I have no problem. LOL

  11. Frustr8 if you are asking me if I am happy with it, yes I am. It gave me time to heal between and if I had complications it was easier to pinpoint from where and what kind of dr to see. With follow-up care, I knew/know what specialist to go to. I know my menstrual issues could have been weight loss related, but I am done having kids anyway, so take it all was what I said.

  12. We are actually all supposed to drink at least minimum 64oz of Water, not just wls patients. I can completely tell a difference now when I don't get in my minimum. I feel so sluggish and tired. Using the bathroom is good because you are flushing out your body. I have an overactive bladder that my urologist is wanting to do surgery on but is waiting for me to get to my maintenance weight. It sucks, but they sell panty liners and things for that, so I'm ok with peeing on myself and having energy vs still peeing on myself and no energy. When I first started, I could have a 20oz coke and drink on it all day, or even a bottle of water. I wasn't much of a drinker except when I was an active alcoholic. But now, I have my 32oz infuser bottle with me all the time. I drink 2 of it at least, 4 cups of black coffee at least a day and sometimes other things on top, but I dont' even have to force myself now. It's second nature and I'm only 6 months post op.

  13. I completely understand struggling more mentally than physically with eating. I eat crap I'm not supposed to because it's easy, it's what my head thinks I want (not need) and I swear at times I'm hungry. It's mostly head hunger. It's just getting my addicted head wrapped around using food for the right purpose. Instead of living to eat, I need to eat to live.

Matt Z can you explain what you meant about eating, burning, etc. I guess I'm having another blonde moment and it sounds good, but I can't grasp it for whatever reason today.

  14. Congrats on the hard work and amazing loss. We are surgery twins. I had my surgery the same day. I know all about the beef Jerky. Whew it's rough. I have issues with red meat and I'm technically not supposed to have any. My nutritionist said it was ok for deer meat and I tried that tonight with no success. I had to just eat my asparagus with parmasean.

  15. I will be 36 next month and I had my surgery in April. Congrats on your weight loss. I've lost about 54 pounds. But, I've been there where I cried over food. My husband and kids will eat something I want just a little of and when he's told me no, I've gotten so mad at him and actually cried. I know I had a very unhealthy relationship with food. I just have to learn to love food for survival not love it as comfort.

  16. I'm laughing so hard. Literally laughing out loud and not just saying it. I would be proud to tell that story. I was so embarrassed when I ran and my stomach slaps my lap. Then I told this lady at my sons football practice about it and I was proud that I've lost enough that it will even slap instead of bouncing. Even my butt is jiggly.

  17. My doctor is the one that suggested the sleeve would be better for me. I was also worried with the malabsorption with the bypass. I had reflux before surgery but not that bad, so I took a chance with the sleeve. I have a friend that had to get the revision because of the reflux. So far, I'm happy with what I've had. And just like you, I had heard a lot of horror stories with the lap band. I have a friend from high school that got it and she lost a good amount of weight, but she doesn't have the restriction and eats EVERYTHING and sometimes she'll get sick, but she's gained a lot back. I know that these are all just tools and we still have to do our work.

And watered down juice I’m sick of Water !! This is a lot on a person

I got sick of Water, then sick of black coffee, then sick of this and that through my 6 months. I have realized I have to change it up where I'm not going to get of something. Instead of eating a turkey breast I cooked all week, I might eat it with a scrambled egg and pico de gallo. I might make a turkey salad, or just leave it in the fridge for a day. My water, I bought an infuser on Amazon, and I have been actually having fun playing with flavors. I recommend being careful with the cayenne if you try lemon and cayenne. I love spicy food and dumped it in there.

    What's your favorite Water enhancers?

I've always enjoyed citrus fruits over anything and now that I have an infuser, it makes it yummier. Especially since I had help here on the pal. But I also have some flavor packet things like Crystal Light, but since we are ballin on a budget, it's the Great Value brand. If Water is cold, I love it even plain. When it gets ball temperature that's when I need some enhancer.
