There’s nothing wrong with doing body weight exercises. Planks, push-ups, triceps dips, squats, lunges, etc. All of those are equipment free.

It's weird, I crush my right radius and scalphoid about 10 years ago and I can lift weights but putting weight on it, I can feel the bones crunching together. My Dr said resistant bands are good, but weights helps tones better and then she explained it in a very understanding at the time way.

The is so true for me. Unfortunately, I didn't realize this until recently and I'm so grateful that I did. Combining my surgery which is a fantastic tool and getting outside help with a therapist and working the Over Eaters Anonymous steps I've gotten better with controlling my over eating compulsions. Like you said, I take it one meal at a time. Good luck to you and good luck to everyone else. Also, as the holidays roll around I need to be more mindful of my food choices.

I'm in AA and I can't find any local OA meetings. I've looked online but there's no one that will sponsor or they ask for money. Do you go to a face to face meeting or online?

  3. So, I went to see my primary the other day and she recommended lifting bar bells and doing squats with bars or kettlebells. My issue is 1. I'm ballin on a budget and can't afford the cheapest gym and 2. there's so much info out there I want opinions from people like me.

Where do I start and what weight do I start with? Something I can use at home or make from home. I know guys in jail hook up something with Water and bags, but how? heck i'd do that. Them guys are swoll. I just want to tone a little.

  4. In my pre op liquid diet I was only allowed cottage cheese and yogurt other than the fluids. That sucked. broth was a blessing because even now, I'm sick of fruity flavored stuff. But I enjoy a Meal Replacement with my Protein Shake frozen to about slushy consistency. I know you said you don't like the Protein Shakes, but have you tried various ones? GNC makes a bunch of different brands and flavors I was allowed pre and post op and if you try it and don't like it, you can take it back in and swap it for another flavor. I was seen plenty at GNC until I found my faves. I have a Cappuccino ( I love coffee) that I add black coffee instead of milk or Water and slushify it. I didn't like milk based shakes as much as water. The milk changes the texture. After surgery I really didn't like the ones with milk like Premier Protein.

  5. My first doctor documented exactly that but refused to submit it saying that she wasn't my weight loss dr but my primary. My weight loss dr and myself argued saying that was the point. But whatever.

My 2nd doctor documented the same thing, but this time my surgeons office had a piece of paper they made 6 copies of that listed my co-morbidities, my current weight, previous weight, blood pressure, and glucose. That was all they submitted to my insurance and they approved it with that.

  6. There's always a healthier alternative to the unhealthy what everyone else is eating. there's a recipe for a chicken crusted pizza on Bariastic I've tried and it's yummmm. I'm a pizzaholic and we make homemade pizza's constantly around here. But I also have to remember that they aren't the ones that are obese and if they are (like my hubs) he didn't have surgery, I did.

Smells really get me too. Especially Doritos. But keep up what you're doing.

  7. I have a friend that had to have a revision because of reflux the same day I had my sleeve. We both can still technically eat all those bad habit foods. I am 6 months post op and yes, it is only a tool. From what I hear from my friend of myself, those foods go either way with either surgery. Some people get sick if they eat bad things and like me and my friend with 2 different surgeries, we can chomp down on all those bad for you foods. I was under the impression that you still remove some of your stomach with bypass they just also re-route things in there.

I have had issues with reflux in my past, especially during pregnancies, but so far *knock on wood* I've only had an issue a few times.

  8. I actually weigh myself daily. And I have been going up and down for the past month. I do know that I cheat here and there and that is the reason I gain. I can feel it in my fingers because my rings end up being snug instead of really loose. I also have problems having a BM. I usually go between 4-7 days before havin one and near the end of that time, I get puffy feeling. I am 6 months post op

  9. I got my piercing yesterday and I LOVE IT. I was even telling my piercer that I felt I deserved it and that I had lost over 50 pounds. I think my next reward will be some new clothes. I think I'll wait until I reach my goal weight though. It will be nice to wear jeans comfortably again.

  10. As long as you are staying within your calorie limit, I would assume it would be fine. I love adding the PB2 (mine is Walmart off brand) to my shakes. I now have it mixed with a cappuccino flavored one and it actually tastes like a reece's shake .I put it in the freezer to get slushy and OMG. So delicious. With adding one tablespoon of that plus my Protein Shake it's 145 calories and 27g Protein with 4 carbs. That is if you even like Peanut Butter.

  11. I had a hysterectomy last year, but kept my ovaries since they were producing the right amount of hormones. I dont' know if you still have yours, but as mentioned I would get my hormone level checked. I know Gabapentin can be used for psych meds too and I personally know those can cause libido to drop. I don't know the side effects of the Gabapentin but with weight loss your system can absorb medicines different. My sex drive goes up and down, but my Dr's are messing with my psych meds. After I take them a while, it goes back up. And since we are talking intimate here, I have had issues with getting wet as well. I feel excited and if I touch myself or when my hubby touches me, it shocks me to know I don't have the wetness I thought I would. I am scheduled to see my ob/gyn on the 1st for my yearly, so now we've been discussing this, I will mention it to him

  12. I'm in the same boat and most psych meds have weight gain as a side effect. I've been dealing with psych meds since I was 18. Some have made me gain A LOT and others have made me gain in the beginning of taking them. I'm on a new med right now that if I forget to take one and start taking it again the next day, I am magnetized to food. I have fallen asleep eating dry Cereal and woke up with the soggy chewed up remains. Now, once I've taken it for a few days, that draw to food seems to be gone. I take this medicine at night because of the drowsiness. The next day I feel like crap after I've been bingeing on food. I take 2 different psych meds at this time and they have been swapping and changing for the past 6 months because of my surgery. I'm unable to swallow pills so I have to crush them or get the dissolvable ones and since my wls I have a hard time stomaching bad tasting things.

  13. I was wondering about the goal weight too, but assumed it was just numbers quickly filled out. I'm 5'2 my goal weight is 135 and that's kinda on the heavier side for my height. My Dr at the last visit said he would be happy to see me at 140. Either one is still smaller than I've been since a teenager and I've had kids as well. I'm just mostly focusing on becoming healthier and learning better habits

  14. It's completely normal to second guess any major life changing thing you go through; marriage, weight loss surgery, cosmetic surgery, buying a first home, even kids. I know once you're pregnant and about to go into labor, there's nothing you can do. But I seriously questioned am I ready? And many other questions. Some of the things you are worrying about can still be enjoyed after surgery just not in huge quantities. I'm a vape person and no longer smoke cigs but every now and then. I drink a pot of coffee every day. Sometimes (mostly) it's Decaf. I will drink a diet coke here and there. I don't drink alcohol because I'm an alcoholic, but I have friends that do.

  15. I'm like a roller coaster. I go about a week staying on top of what I'm supposed to eat, then I grab something quick and then I mess up my whole day eating bad things because I justify it in my head that I've already messed up. I have times when I feel like nothing has changed and I'm doing so well and the scales don't say anything different. Then I get on and there's a few pounds off. I think my scale likes messing with me. I also feel like I havn't done as good because I hear people losing more than me around the same day I had surgery, but then I tell someone how much I've lost and they are amazed. I want the quick way, but I know I didn't get obese in 1 day and I won't be at my goal weight in 1 day either.
