  1. I’ve been looking at substitutes for bread...
so far cheese taco shells (looks awesome super healthy)
cabbage in place of shells for stuffed shells
    cabbage for lasagna noodles
    canbage to make gyro
zuccinni for spaghetti I hate it if anyone can tell me a better spaghetti option
Also I’m looking into almond flour anyone ever use it. My plan it to not get a taste for carbs like not even taste it or sugar ever again cause I love carbs I love food (dinner) not sweets so I plan to eat a dinner all day slowly but a healthy one.
also I feel like I have to start walking around with a kit in my purse and car for that there won’t be any excuses when I’m socializing. liquid stevia, hot sauce, tea, please chime in and tell me what else.
Got my Fitbit and I’m ready to go I’m down to 270 today from the liquid diet I’m super happy I’m not hungry and wait for it...I LOVE the muscle milk now lol so weird. I wish they would have put me on this diet a month and I think it’s really important before surgery because all the crashing I did from sugar and caffeine and headaches it would have made my post operation time so much worse.
sorry for rambling I’m excited for Tuesday!!! Surgery day!!! Grateful for the opportunity and life. I think we have to change ourselves internally and start taking care of ourselves because most of us here are caregivers to spouse, kids and forget about ourselves. [emoji173]️
Ok I could go on forever have a blessed weekend y’all

I wish I could drink muscle milk, but it's got too many carbs. I'm drinking nitro tech whey gold from GNC. I had found a recipe on bariastic for chicken crust pizza that I can't wait to try when I get to solid foods.

  2. Nothing yet in the bathroom department either. I had terrible Constipation on the pre-op liquid diet, so I've been mixing in miralax at every opportunity, but still nothing. I assume that once I start putting something other than Water, Propel, or boullion in me, things will start moving. Congrats on the 10lb drop. I'm a little disappointed that I'm up from surgery day, but that will change I'm sure.

The Dr gave me a suppository on Thursday. I had 2 bowel movements that day, then another Friday before I was discharged. I also have some Smooth Move tea here at home and I drank it before my surgery during my pre op liquid diet and it worked.

  3. So how is everyone whose married spouse taken this change? And do you think the relationship will change after you lose weight a lot of people get divorced after this or addicted to alcohol. I guess cause we are considered addicts to food. I would say I do become someone obsessed with things when I was younger I worked out 8 hours a day 5 times a week and other personal things I had to do 3-4 times a day [emoji6] I never done drugs or never been an alcoholic. Does anyone feel this way or know anything about this addiction thing .

I'm a recovering alcoholic /addict. This may I'll have 7 years. Communication is the most important for these relationships to live.

  4. My surgery date is April 12th. Did anyone or has anyone had trouble sticking to the pre-op diet? This e they just recently had surgery be honest did you stick to it 100%. It difficult especially when you go from what you were eating to suddenly strict eating.

I just had my surgery on the 3rd. Out of 2 weeks on that diet, I adhered maybe 5 days. It was horrible, but the last 5 days, I made myself stick as much as possible.

  5. Good morning y'all. I joined the losers bench. I wasn't nervous going in, but super sorry excited.

I was so excited . Now I'm in such pain. My tummy hurts, my head, and I have an abundant amount of gas in my left breast area. I keep reminding myself that I need this.

Sorry about your loss. I'm proud of you for continuing even after your loss.

  6. What is everyone’s pre-op diet like? Mine is just two weeks.

    Breakfast : Protein Shake
    Snack : Protein Shake
    Lunch : Protein shake
    Snack : Protein Shake
Dinner : 3oz of lean meat and 2.5 cups of salad with fat free dressing. BUT I find this to be just a freaking tease!!! I mean come on! How can you expect me to eat just that for dinner when all Iv had all day we’re Protein Shakes?!?! So I honestly have been skipping the food and just drink another Protein shake for dinner.

My pre op liquid diet is for 2 weeks. I can only eat cottage cheese or Greek yogurt 3 times a day. I have to drink 3 Protein Drinks a day. Unlimited sugar free Jello, Popsicle or broth. And today, my last day was Clear Liquids only. At 4, I had to drink citrate of magnesia. And I have to be at the hospital at 530 in the morning.

  7. So do you think it would hurt to eat cottage cheese or Jello instead of 3 oz of meat? Isn’t the goal to shrink our livers for this surgery? I am so new to this and am struggling to get through a 12 hour shift at work on 3 Protein Shakes, no caffeine and Water. I am not eating the small meal until I get home.

I wasn't able to eat meat on my pre op diet. I was only able to eat cottage cheese or Greek yogurt. I couldn't have a meal except liquids. My Dr had free liquids like broth, sugar free Popsicle, sugar free Jell-O, and flavored water that I could have unlimited during the day.

  8. Thank you for all of the advice. Today was day 1 of this 2 week diet and dang it is not fun. Please tell me I won’t be this hungry the whole time. [emoji45] I am so excited for you....only a few more days until your surgery. Please keep me posted.

I had good days and bad. Mostly at night was the worst. Today was Clear Liquids only and citrate at 4. I felt so bad I wasn't hungry, but this time tomorrow I'll be on the losers bench. [emoji106]

  9. I have been approved for surgery 4/9, I am so nervous I will not be able to handle the change. I am also petrified of losing my hair. I am looking forward to losing 100lbs. God, that is a lot. I am afraid of the aftermath.
Any tips to helping one coupe with the changes for the next 4 weeks?

My surgery is Tuesday and for the past few weeks I've been an emotional roller coaster. I have had every fear come and go. I've grieved food. I've dwelled on what the future will be like. And now, the simplest things make me want to cry. I don't want to fail and I know that the best things don't come easy. A nurse from my Dr office that had it said she didn't even notice the Hair loss much. It wasn't bald spots, just thinner. She says eat your proper amount of Protein and take your Vitamins. She also said its short term. I think that is less important than how unhealthy obesity is. I have to remember to take one day at a time.

  10. I will probably have surgery on April 23rd. I am so nervous. My doctor said I don’t need a liquid diet pre surgery. Apparently that’s only necessary for BMI over 45. Post surgery it will be 4 weeks until solid food.

I think the pre liquid varies with drs not bmi. Mine is 41 and I have a 2 week liquid diet. When I took my pre op class, everyone in there has to do a pre op diet of 2 weeks.

  11. I feel like my diet pre and post op are very strict.

PreOp and up to 7 weeks after my surgeon will not allow me to have any solid food.

Does anybody else have a diet this strict?

    · 2 weeks preop diet: Protein Shakes and Clear Liquids only

    · 2 weeks post op diet: Protein shakes and clear liquids only

    · 3 & 4 weeks postop: I can add in creamy liquids

    · 5 & 6 weeks postop: I can add in pureed foods

    · 7+ weeks: I can slowly integrate solid foods.

That's about how mine is. Except in my 2 week pre op, I can have cottage cheese lowfat and low carbs Greek yogurt. But only up to 3 times a day and 1/2 cup of cottage cheese. I have to have Clear Liquids throughout the day. The day before I can only have clear liquids and take citrate of magnesia around 4 pm. But the rest is exactly the same.

  12. Interesting. The diets seem a bit different depending on the surgeon. I don’t have a bowel prep that I know of. I guess they could spring that on me at my preop appt on the 4th. I am just supposed to do 2 weeks of 3 Protein supplements a day to equal 600 calories and 1 meal of 400 calories max...just 3 oz of lean Protein meat and 1 piece of fruit. Plus 64 oz of Water and a Multivitamin. Are you experiencing hair loss with the restrictive diet?

I would love some fruit or meat, I think I just want something to chew. I can have cottage cheese or Jell-O but the cottage cheese only up to 3 times a day and Greek lowfat yogurt up to 3 times a day. So far I haven't noticed any Hair loss and I don't start taking Vitamins until a week after surgery. I also have dreads so I only wash my hair about 1-2 times a week and don't brush it.

  13. Well today marks the 1 year anniversary of my surgery! I guess they call that a surgiversary? I couldn't be happier with the way I look and even happier with the way I feel! I was afraid of the unknown and was worried I would get sick or look sickly and not look like a man, but as you can see with proper nutrition and a sustainable diet plan I retained all of my muscle and size and am a decent sized man for my frame. I feel like I reversed my aging process by 20 years and I admit the new found fox whistles I get from the ladies (and the guys) are pretty good for the confidence. lol
Im getting a new tattoo today marking the year long journey and will probably record a video or go live from the session later today!!

  14. Coffee worked this morning but I’m trying not to drink coffee since the caffeine can lead to dehydration. I’m hoping the Metamucil makes a difference.

Coffee has never helped me. But hopefully this tea will. I need something that won't give me gas because I've heard after surgery Constipation is an issue then. Stool softener and laxative always give me gas in my belly but don't help in moving me.
