I was sleeved 4/30, only 4 days ago. First day was a bit painful and annoying with gas, but since then i've been walking more and feel fine. Today I ran some errands and drove for the first time.

I'm curious if anyone is on a one week liquid diet. I have only had Clear Liquids since Sunday and I'm feeling hungry. I called the doctors office and they said it's normal to feel hungry but just keep the Water intake up. After reading many of these posts it seems a lot of you guys start Protein faster than me. Just curious why this is...

I was sleeved 4-3. I was on clear liquids for a week, then added milk Protein for about 3 weeks. I was supposed to have started soft/pureed on Monday but I haven't been getting my fluids (I pulled a muscle in my stomach hauling trash), so my Dr postponed the next stage for a week.

  2. Speaking from experience, my husband had quadruple bypass last year and it was very intense taking care of him and my 2 boys 5 and 6 at the time. I had my sleeve 4-3 and this past weekend I did too much and I'm having major pains in my right side. I see my Dr tomorrow, but he says I just overdone things. Mentally I struggle so much. I'm irritable and fighting with learning how to live without depending on food. Taking care of my husband last year was exhausting and it itself put strain on us. Me personally, if I had to choose, I would put it off a bit too make sure your husband is more independent and moving around better. He'll need you after his surgery and vice versa. That's just from my experience. If you need to talk message me, I'm here for you.

Below are the supplements I take. The Bariatric 45 is pretty complete so you don’t need to take a bunch of others.

    Bariatric 45 online
    Chewable Calcium online
    B12 dissolves under tongue Costco

My Dietitian looked at those compared to the bariatricAdvantage with Iron and they're pretty much the same, however with the bariatricAdvantage, you have to take 3 a day. So you get triple the amount a Vitamins a day than what bariatric 45 offers. I've noticed that straight out of the bottle they taste like they smell. But when I put them in my weekly pill reminder they taste better after sitting. I only have to take one B12 a week to make sure I'm getting the extra amount. I also have to take Vitamin D for 6 months. most bariatric patients are Vitamin d deficient. I have to alternate 2 to 3 Calcium every other day because I'm a woman still with ovaries even though I had a hysterectomy.

First stages you will need shakes to get your Protein in. The goal is to learn to fuel your body with real food. You shouldn't have to be dependant on shakes for nutrition long term. It's a choice if you still want to use them.

After my 5th month I could hit my Protein goal with real food. Shakes also are a liquid they don't make me feel full or satisfied.

I had to do clear Proteins or Protein Shakes without a milk substance for a week. Then I've been on Premier Protein for almost 3 weeks. hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to start soft/pureed.

Hey Y'all I just heard about this page and I was sleeved on 4/20 (lol!)

I'm feeling awesome, good at getting my Protein in but I've never been a big water/fluid drinker ever so I'm having a little trouble getting all that in.

I've been go go go since Monday, I took the week off of work so I've been spending time with my hubby, doing some shopping, hitting up Lowes/HD for home improvement project stuff and just generally keeping active and busy.

My biggest gripe is the difference of post-op programs that vary from surgeon to surgeon and I was told that it may not be the surgeon but the insurance company that sets it up.

I'm supposed to be 3 weeks on liquids post-op, others are puree 5 days post op. I even saw a TV special about a journalist on Univision that was sleeved and her surgeon said it varies from person to person what the comfort level of food is post op and do what's right for you if you get the sleeve. I had some pudding yesterday and had no issues whatsoever.

But that's my intro, glad to be here!

I'm with you on the different surgeons post op. mine was a week Clear Liquids, 3 weeks Protein with milk based or add Fairlife milk to protein powder. Then I start soft/pureed for about 3 weeks. I've nibbled here and there on things. I'm so ready for substance. I also have trouble getting in fluids and since I'm constipated and nothing works, they want me to go from 64oz to 80. OMG

  6. I homeschool my boys that are 6 and 7. My boys don't have helmets for their bikes and their pediatrician is aware of it. I too was raised without helmets and I saw a kid hit a brick wall going down a steep hill. He had brain damage and lost an eye. I practice Buddhism and I chose a Christian curriculum. The education is as good as private school, but cheaper. I'm a recovering addict with tattoos all over. I don't look like the typical homeschool mom. My 7 year old is ADHD and OCD. He gets one on one attention and learns quicker than he would in public schools. The education in public schools is a disgrace. I want my boys to be boys and know that sometimes life hurts, but get up and don't give up.

  7. Hi Everybody I had my surgery on the 19th of April. Its an insane change but i actually dont mind it much. I did my op in Egypt where i am from and the Doctor’s rules are a lot tougher than what i read around here. I havent seen many posts including the use of a spirometer which he has me do every other hour. Its a nuisance but afterwards i get lots of relief. I will be on Clear Liquids for a week and then the plan is reassessed during my doctors appointment to see whether we move on or not.

Good puck to everyone and lets hope we all reach our goals.

    Peace and Love
    Oz

I too had to use a spirometer and I think most of us here had to. I think we forget to mention that. It helps to keep from developing pneumonia.

  8. I've heard good things about bariastic.
I'm old school I like MFP. It also does the pie chart, scans barcodes to add food, totals your exercise, has recipes, support forums and social media - Exercise log, tips and videos - challenges that you can win money for logging consistently. When you hit completed for the day. It says if every day was like today you would weigh...(gives you the number) I like that for motivation...

The same with bariastic minus the money part. When I last used MFP, I never saw the incentives. I'll have to check that out again

  9. Omg that’s so cool. We will be moving over by Knoxville for my husbands job but I love Nashville. We are in Washington State right now and can’t wait to get closer to family (mine is KY, his is TX).

East Tennessee is where my family is. They're about 2 hours give or take from Knoxville. Washington State is far from family. I don't associate with any of mine so I could care less if I was in Alaska. Lol.

  10. It calculates a percentage and then I have to add the actual Protein numbers up.

I’m actually thinking about switching to the MFP app because I’ve heard good things about it.

I use the bariastic app and I love it. Even if I'm not putting the food in the right category, it keeps up with my protein and on a separate are it shows how much of my intake was protein, carbs, and fat together in a pie chart. They also have bariatric surgery friendly recipes.

  11. I’m using the Premier Protein too. They are pretty tasty. My nutritionist told me to get the Cookies & cream one, freeze it for a mock ice cream treat. I haven’t tried it yet but I’m sure I will once that flavor is more available. Haven’t seen it at Walmart yet.

OMG, I'm going to try that. My family eats ice cream for dessert every night almost and I've cheated with 2 teaspoons. Tonight I had a few teaspoons of yogurt. I went and got a Sam's membership because they had 12 packs for $17. I got chocolate, peaches and cream, caramel, and Cookies and cream. But tomorrow a cookies and cream is going in the freezer.

  12. Mines been doing that too. Gurgle gurgle. Lol For your stage 2 what would you be doing if you were lactose intolerant?

Good question. They said it had to be low carbs. So maybe some kind of almond milk or something along that line that's lactose free. I'm just guessing though. I just went ahead and bought Premier Protein because my hubby tried milk with the Protein Powder I was using and he said it tasted awful, so I didn't want to go that route.
