    Juice post op?

The only thing that has caused dumping with me after my vsg was hot wings from Krystal's. our electricity went out after a bad storm (it stays out for hours when this happens). I didn't have bottled water to make a protein shake and it was dinner. We are on well water so when electricity goes, so does our water. We went to Krystal's and I thought wings would be safe since there's no bun and it's chicken. WRONG! Lesson learned
  2. I meant I can help men find a male to help. sorry auto correct
  3. I have been clean and sober 7 years. I am active in aa and my home group is actually an online group. So for any women that has drinking our drug issues and need advice or want to talk, message me. I'll give you my number and we can talk. Men too, I can help guide you to a feeling make in this area. I always say I'm a "true addict". I take anything and make it unhealthy; cutting, sex, drugs, alcohol, and especially food. I'm not trying to make my message a public service announcement, but I want those struggling with other unhealthy coping mechanisms to know that they're not alone.

    Juice post op?

The same day I had surgery, I had met and made a friend that went through a revision for the same reason. She was eating solids before I was, but her dr was a different one in our Bariatric group. It took me a about 6 weeks before I got to solid I think. I had nothing but diarrhea during my liquid stage. My dr doesn't want me having fruits because of the added calories. He wants the majority of my calories to come from protein. I've been wanting to add fruits to my meal replaced protein drinks. But I can use fruits in infusd water because I'm not eating them. I'm only 6 months post op though

    Advice!!!

I was happy I found a multi vitamin with iron and calcium that I can drink that doesn't taste like meds. And now, I only have to take 2 of those (which I just add to my water) and 1 calcium. Before I had to take 3 multi vitamin with iron and 3 calcium chews. And I have my prescribed meds that I have to open my capsules and take with yogurt. That's the hardest part. I can't wait to be approved to swallow meds again.

    Liquid diet

Just think of it as getting out the bad, but yes, it does pass

    Frustrated

Remember to tell yourself that this will pass. It will probably pass like a kidney stone, but it will pass. I'm 6 months post op and there's times I swear I'm starving, but it's head hunger. Like someone else mentioned, I lived off sf popsicles and broth. I loved the warmth from the broth and a different meaty taste than the sweet tastes of the protein drinks. I couldn't stomach jello, it hurt and my dr's office actually stopped telling people it was good to eat in the first few stages because you can't really chew it and it goes down thick
  8. I'm only 6 months post op. There are times I think my surgeon is an ass, but nothing compared to what you explained. I knew going in that I had/have an unhealthy addiction to food. One, I am an addict/alcoholic and food for me has always been another addiction. I also know but don't really think or remember it, but sometimes it's just head hunger and not real hunger. But when I "feel" hungry I eat and that's where I go wrong. I know that it is my fault I haven't lost more than I have. ( Sorry about the italicize writing when I take it off it automatically starts writing like that)

    Ok...what is that smell???!!!

I've always thought sprays for the bathroom were funny. If you stink, you stink. If I go poop and come out people might know I pooped because it smells like poo. Or they might know because the bathroom smells like flower covered poo. Either way it stink, but with spray you have a hint of a floral arrangement.

    Ok...what is that smell???!!!

OMG you are not alone. My gas and my poop smelled horrible. My dr said it was from the extra protein my body wasn't used to. Now I have issues from constipated to diarrhea and sometimes I want to clear the room myself and sometimes there's no smell. My husband has even threatened for me to sleep in the living room. lol Who knows. I am 6 months post op though.

    Water Infusers

I went and got strawberries, limes, lemons, thyme, and mint. I am so excited for my infuser bottle to arrive. I think it will be here tomorrow. My Walmart didn't have that many fresh herbs in stock. Next time I'm looking for basil.

    Six Months After My VSG

I had never heard that, but I know that my lack of not losing is totally my fault. I went to the store today and bought me so many good and healthy foods to have and plenty where I won't get tired of the same things.

    Phase 2 diet

Soft scrambled eggs and make sure to take small bites and chew slowly. I had an issue with eggs at first because of my size of my bites. Greek lowfat yogurt has been a staple for the longest now. Tuna packs was good but I had to add a lot of mustard and mayo to my canned tuna or canned chicken because it felt so dry going down. Your new tummy will eventually get used to foods but take your time and my dietician said my fluids was more important than getting all the food in, especially in the beginning.

    Phase 2 diet

What is your phase 2? Mine was full liquid diet instead of clear liquids.

    Six Months After My VSG

I was wanting to know the same as wanda247. I had mine on 4-3-18 and I've lost 45 pounds. I know I have not done what I'm supposed to and should have lost more than what I have.. So hearing what you have done would really help

    Advice!!!

We're all different and can give different advice. Remember this is your journey and your dr will tell you different things my doctor did, etc. From my experience, I was fine with a GNC brand protein drink before surgery and now for a meal replacement I can tolerate it, but when I HAD to drink it after surgery I had to switch to premier. There are many different vitamins out there, but ultimately what you like will be what is best as long as you're getting your requirements. there will be hard times and times where you forget you've had surgery. Don't get frustrated and feel like a failure. You're human and we can start our days over anytime.
  18. My boys were 7 and 6 when I had my surgery in April this year. Last year my husband had to have emergency quadruple bypass which terrified them when they were able to see him and he was in the hospital right at a week. I sat them down before going to the bariatric doctor and told them what I was trying to do. they told me I didn't need to because I was pretty the way I was. I had co morbidities and I needed it for my health. I told them that I was trying to do what I can to be a healthy mom. they also know I'm in recovery for drugs and alcohol and they know what my AA book is and I told them momma is trying to be a healthy mom both from bad things like germs and things I can control so I can be with them as long as possible. I was in the hospital for my wls for about 4 days and they stayed at their grandmothers house for a few days and then my hubby went and got them to see me and see I was ok in the hospital and being taken care of. They also were told because I was going to be sore and walking around uncomfortable for a little bit. They were my big little helpers when I came home. Now, since I've talked with them like miniature grown ups (on their level) they actually look at calories and ask me if I can have certain foods. They are a huge part of my journey because they have motivated me to be the best me.

    Fat Shaming

Knowing me, I would have pulled out one of my fat photos and said "isn't it a shame to be so fat and be talked about behind their back." It's always funny how small someone gets when they realize they are talking about something that effects someone they are around. My youngest son has a large head. There was this girl talking about his head once when he was in my sight but surrounded by other kids. I told her thank God I had him C-section and I just watched her shrink down. I just laughed about it, but I've seen it happen many times about different situations.

Unsupportive partners make me so angry!

I am one of those that does keep trigger foods in my home, but I have a husband and 2 kids that are 6 and 8. I've had so many people tell me to make my kids eat what I eat and my husband. I'm sorry, this is my weight loss journey, not theirs. I'm a recovering addict/alcoholic, it's the same as going into someone's home and telling them they can't have alcohol. My husband doesn't drink but if he did, doesn't mean I have to because it's in my house. I don't avoid grocery stores or convenient stores because they sell alcohol and high calorie foods. I just don't get those thigns for myself. When I'm eating things that aren't healthy for me, my kids don't even like that anyway. My hubby supports me, but he also doesn't get it when I'm angry because I want that bowl of ice cream he is eating. It's not because it's in my house, it's because I'm mad at myself for getting myself in a position where food ruled me.
  24. I thought I was past prepared for a surgery like this. Physically I was. Surgery is nothing new to me. I've had a tonsillectomy, wisdom teeth removed, 2 D & C, 3 C-sections, gall bladder removed, and a hysterectomy. I thought I'm a pro at being put to sleep. It's more the mental part that's the hardest. Falling back into old behaviors just because I "crave" something or because I'm still "hungry". Who wants dry baked chicken when dry potato chips go down so much easier. Another thing I crave is crunch. I found I love scrambled eggs with diced red onion in it. .OMG so yummy. So, starting tomorrow. I"m going to plan my meals better where I don't get sick of the same things over and over. Cajun chicken breast in the crock pot is so juicy. But the physical part wasn't bad. OH, and I hate having to crush my meds to take them I'm sick of yogurt just from taking meds.

    Surgery complication support

What a beautiful outlook. We should go into this knowing we can have complications. A lot of us aren't the healthiest going in and we are obese. I'm not losing the weight I should be, but that is my own fault.
