I’m having bypass May 7...I was nervous/excited...then I too went through the phase where I wanted to eat...I had to lose 10% of my weight to get approved, I did that fine...now I have my pre op with my primary dr on Thursday and my weight is up a little and I’m nervous...my weight is not supposed to be up at all during this time...I’m thinking of opting out of getting weighed...the only weight that matters will be next week at my surgical pre op...

I'm scared to get on the scale now, but I guess I really need to know where I am so that I can get my act together.. I' pretty sure they won' cancel after insurance approval, but I most certainly don' want to be the one who gained weight either.

Hi! I am May 14 and feeling incredibly excited! My pre-op diet is only 2 days (sat+sun before Monday surgery) but lately I’ve considered following others and doing a 1 or 2 week liquids plan? I’m terrified my liver will be too big to operate on. What does your pre-op diet look like?

I haven' had my preop nutrition appointment yet. It is on 4/26. At that point it will only be two weeks until surgery....I'm hoping for a week but will do whatever he says.

  3. Hi May sleeves,

We are literally halfway through the April and our surgeries are looming. Anyone have any new experiences/fears/updates to share?

I haven' started my preop diet and I just went through a phase where I wanted to eat everything in sight....because I know after I start my preop....there will be no more of that...surgery date 5/11/18

Yes! My first few weeks I was fine on whey, and I was getting most of my Protein from shakes with whey protein as the main ingredient. Then I started getting extreme nausea about 1 hr or so after ingesting whey. Whey from shakes, Protein Bars, protein Water.

I started looking for non whey alternatives. I tried some vegan shakes, powders and bars, but could not tolerate the taste. What I have found that works is Muscle Milk Pro & Medifast Soups, bars and powdered shakes. There are some other non whey premade Shakes that I can also handle, EAS Advant Edge Carb Control, Slim Fast & Lean Shakes, but they aren't as protein dense, and taste worse then the Muscle Milk.

    Hope that helps!

Thanks for your help. You gave me a great starting point.

You may want to work with your Dr./Allergist on your allergy issues with Protein supplements. Getting medical advice in a forum is not a great idea.

Please read the post before commenting.. I am not asking for medical.advice from a forum. And as my post would disclose, I already have an allergist. What I asked is if anyone else had the same experience or anything similar and what worked for them.

  6. Disclaimer: I was called a "walking allergic reaction" by my allergist.

    My nickname is "bubblegirl"

I have never been able to eat Protein Bars, they tingle my mouth/throat...I attirbuted it to food sensitivities..

Been sampling Protein Drinks and have had an array of symptoms from tingly mouth to gastric upset.

Ordered sample packet of fruit flavored Protein drinks and OMG...the ocean opened up, nausea, vomiting diarrhea....tingling lips, tongue etc...

whey protein isolate... not lactose intolerant.

    Anyone else have this experience?
