    July Sleeve

just got my date today, july 25th!
  2. this forum is for helpful information, not to be lectured and ridiculed. people deal with things in all different ways! maybe next time phrase this in a nicer less hurtful way
  3. hey guys i don’t have a date yet for my surgery, but it will be some time in late july. if it does fall around this time, then it’s the same time as a concert i want to attend (warped tour) which is an all day festival like concert. i was wondering if you guys thought it would be okay for me to go if it’s during my pre-op phase (in terms of “stamina” i suppose- could i last all day on the pre-op diet or is that too hard) or the other side of that being a week or so after surgery, would it be too strenuous to go and be standing in crowds, being in the sun all day, etc. the concert is either july 15 or july 27 (i could attend it in CT or MA, as i live in MA). again, i don’t have a date for my surgery yet but late july most likely
  4. unfortunately this is the last year the tour is running! though, now that i’m closer to having my date i have a better idea. I think my surgery will be a few days before the MA date, making it pretty impossible to go. but if I get the date i want for surgery, i shouldn’t even have to start my pre-op diet yet for the date of the Connecticut show, which i might go to instead.

    Hey guys I’m new here

yeah that’s what i’ve been trying to do now! i’ve been planning and packing snacks when i know i’m gonna hang with my friends and it’s made things much easier. i’m also hoping that age will play into not having as much loose skin, but in a perfect world i’d want to lose 200lbs so i think i’m gonna have loose skin no matter what. it kind of sucks because there are so many tattoos that i want and haven’t gotten because i’m afraid if i get skin surgery they’ll be removed! lol!

    Hey guys I’m new here

hey! i’m 22 and just waiting to schedule my surgery! submitted to my insurance provider last tuesday and hoping for a date towards the end of july. i started this process in february, but in the last 2 months really put in work to show my program i’m serious. i’ve lost 15lbs since april, but 20 since my highest weight in march. i’m getting the sleeve surgery as well! my biggest worries for life after surgery are pretty common- loose skin, ill fitting clothes and spending money on clothes, dating... and one “taboo” one that my surgery team isn’t as worried about, but i’ve received some flak for asking about on here, which is smoking (weed). i pretty much smoke every day now and won’t have a problem ~quitting~ for surgery, but of course, after i’m worried about handling the munchies and stuff like that.

Trying to find love during weight loss journey

I’m wondering how to go about this too. I’m only 22 and haven’t been with anyone for like 3 years now. i think it also depends what your sexuality is. for some reason, i am much more shy and insecure when it comes to guys i’m attracted to, but girls that i’m attracted to, i can be confident and myself. It’s a weird place to be at because so much of modern dating is advertising yourself and that’s hard to do. for instance, my tinder bio reads “22, interior architecture & design // live music // feminist ill be hot in a year so give me a chance” mean? maybe... but if you know me, self deprecating humor is my go to “coping” or ~preventative~ mechanism. and i’ve only had one person message me and ask what that’s supposed to mean. most of the people messaging me don’t acknowledge it, though i’m sure it would be different if i actually talked and went on dates with some of these people. it usually doesn’t go further than tinder messages because i’m just shy and insecure. which i need to get over but it’s hard to do! i know if someone is taking the time to “like” me back and message me, it’s genuine, but that 12 year old voice can’t get out of my head saying “it’s a joke they’re just gonna show their friends your pictures and laugh and call you names!!”
  12. anxiously waiting for my phone call to schedule! two business days down.... 8-13 to go 😅
  13. @ALFxRNY i should hear back within 10-15 business days, but I requested end of july (that’s when my mom is off work and timing works best) so it’ll be a little bit of a wait anyway! still exciting though!
  14. just had my last appointment with surgeon and nutritionist. lost 14.3 lbs since may 29th! submitting to insurance today!!! wooo!!!! it feels so real!
  15. hi! i haven’t had surgery yet! (hoping for july or august) but i’m 22
  16. fellow 22 year old! good luck on surgery! would love to talk more

    bathing suit shopping

need a new bathing suit, but getting surgery this summer... we all know how expensive bathing suits are. i just bought a one piece from torrid that i really like and it fits quite nice, it was $100 but i got it for $65 on sale. I’m thinking of getting a 2 piece tankini set from torrid as well so i have two bathing suits to switch off between for the summer (my friends and i love going to the beach and pool/ i bring the kids i nanny to the pool) but does it make sense to spend money on another bathing suit? like is this the type of this that will either a) maybe fit me in a year since it’s kind of compression and bathing suits work that way or b) torrid has nice bathing suits and i could potentially poshmark or facebook sell it if it doesn’t fit? just wanted some opinions on of it’s a waste of money, cause a top and bottom from torrid is prob gonna set me back another $65-80

    bathing suit shopping

@redhead_che no this is why i asked! i’m like medium frugal? hahaha ill spend money when i want to but if it’s not practical then i won’t. like in this case like you said, you lost quickly in the beginning that tells me it won’t be worth it. and not for nothing but i’m starting out at over 300+ and i’ve read that we tend to lose a lot faster in the beginning too, so that’s another factor. i can make do with my old suits!

    emotions all over the place

i feel the same way. i’m in the late stages of getting my surgery date (waiting for insurance approval) and my emotions are everywhere. i’ve been reading threads on here and am doubting the sleeve and it’s results (though it is what my surgeon suggested and i still think at 22 it is my best option because it is the least restrictive?), extra skin and skin removal eventually, healing immediately after and how long i won’t be able to work (i nanny but i don’t do any heavy lifting- the kids are 4 and 6 so don’t need to be picked up). like you said, all my emotions are just everywhere. i do see a therapist so i feel in check and i see her every two weeks and we spend our entire session talking about this, and i talk about my feelings with my friends, it’s just a lot of feelings to handle and i think it’s best to write them out sometimes and just have someone who has gone through it be like “yeah that’s normal don’t worry!” and that helps more than anything else does. I’ve only used this app for a short time, and i don’t necessarily feel like i’m a “part” of ~it~ yet, but i can tell it’s a great community where every is supportive and willing to give advice.
  20. Yeah, I know my surgeon bases it off of BMI/risk factor
  21. i need the shots because i’m on birth control (pills) which i’m stopping for surgery, and because my BMI is over 50. my starting BMI was 53 and our goal was to get it under 50, i’ve lost 13.4 lbs but it’s still 50.6 so i’ll still need to do the shots to be on the safe side. if you needed them or your surgeon was concerned that you needed them, i’m sure they would’ve mentioned it already! but you can always ask them about it
  22. same here! i have one more community support group to attend and that’s my last requirement. next appointment with my surgeon we will *hopefully* be submitting to insurance. she thinks insurance could approve and i could have as soon of a date as sometime in july! i do have to do self shots though (i think, i’ve lost 13lbs but couldn’t get my BMI under 50) which i’m scared of but my best friend is currently a CNA and a nursing student so i’m going to make her do them for me lol
  23. i can’t even picture a day where heels won’t hurt my feet 🤣
